Two of our more popular threads are "What LEGO set(s) did you buy today?" and "What LEGO set(s) did you sell today?" These threads are filled with great information. But we all know LEGO bricks are about "building" LEGO sets and models, so why shouldn't we talk about it on this site as well? I mean, many LEGO sets that are fantastic builds are also investment winners, so why shouldn't people share some of their experiences of build and set quality that might affect LEGO set values, either positively or negatively? Let us know what you built today and your overall thoughts on the set. Don't forget to leave more in depth reviews in our LEGO SET REVIEWS section...

I love this set.  By far the most unorthodox building techniques of any set I have built to date.  Kudos to TLG for Making it very sturdy.

I am not sure yet how I am going to rearrange and fit this in yet though.  I was hoping to display vertically.

Just finished building mine today. Lots of little repetitions along the way but it is such a great build with bonkers techniques all along the way that you can't help but stay absorbed by it. It looks fabulous and by about half way I had already decided it NEEDS a custom built case to display it in. Just need to decide whether it will be vertical or horizontal. I love it

I built Krennic's shuttle today and the striker on Friday. The striker has really grown on me. The elongated body isn't my favorite, but I love the length and shape of the wings. The mechanism to move the wings and lock them in place are nice.

The shuttle was ok. The wings are huge, but I hate the body shape. Not thrilled about the ball joints for the wings. I'm less sure of the friction keeping them up than the ratchets in the tyderium. Interesting how every panel is designed to open. You can carry 5 characters and stash 4 guns in back. Honestly, I got this set for the figures. 

The Scuttler - a very unique build. We'll see how it holds up to play when my son gets his hands on it.

I built the UCS B-Wing 10227 over the weekend as the kids and I continue to work our way through our Star Wars want list whenever we have enough profits from Legos sales to finance our next buy.  I enjoyed the build as it had some different pieces that I have never used before...plus I am always a sucker for a large OT set.  I haven't built the 75050 B-Wing for comparison, but have been busy selling them to pay for sets like these ?.  (Sorry for the low quality pics...we had bad lighting and just snapped them quickly.)

Next up for us will be the Tantive IV 10198, which we are excited to finally build.  

Finally completed US Capitol this evening. Taken me a couple of weeks, half an hour here and there. The dome at the end was the best part of the build. Amazing how long this thing is (45cm) and twice the length of White House. Really like the contrasting white and sand green. 

 

Wal-Mart clearance helping his collection along. At a dollar to 2.50 a piece we cleared the shelves. One of each for him.

 

He already snubs the mega bloks. He finds it much easier to use the short LEGO studs in comparison to the one bulky mega blok stud.

Recently I got back from a duty in Nigeria and bought some retired sets for myself (thanks to the allowance). One of these sets is set 10027 "Train Engine Shed". After I received the set I dismantled it, washed the bricks and base plates and started building. During the building I found several parts were used which are not original and some parts were missing. Still need to order those. Nevertheless I am very very happy with this set. A great appearance and it looks great on display. One day I will use it for my future City. Luckily I found out the Emerald Night (another set I bought after my duty) cannot pass it due to the width. A major crash has been avoided .

First attempt at using rebrickable and brick link. Should have really stuck to building 1 model at a time but complicated life by ordering for 4 different models to save on postage. Finding some parts of both brick link and rebrickable more hard work than they really need to be. Here is my first moc, Anio's ST19 Sith Infiltrator. Still waiting on a few final printed parts and the sticker but happy with the result.

Roskolnikovs large AT-AT is next up then the upgrade pack for 42056 and thanks to @thoroakenfolder I'm busy collecting parts for a 10134

Rebrickable is awesome and bricklink can be addictively convenient.  My first moc came from open set stock and bricks and pieces orders from LEGO.  Today I'm up to 9 mocs on the go.  I like to keep the pipeline full.

We decided to open up an oldie. The box was rather shelf worn as it has been stored on various shelves since 2007.

Finished building this today. Very fast build since there aren't a lot of pieces. Still love the design and I think it displays very very well. Can't believe it's 15+ year old set.

I have quite a few sets that I have recently built and still in the queue.  The most recent build is the new Snowspeeder and I was happy to get a refresh of this set for my collection.

I built two-to-three bags every day for 5 days and I really enjoyed the build because there wasn't a lot of greebling.  My favourite part is the ass end; it looks fantastic and the designer did a great job on both that and the sleek appearance.  I put the stickers on but the only ones that add aesthetic value are the front orange one and the side window white stripes, the others are a complete waste.  I would like to see a little more work on the underside (or how about a functioning tow cable) and two tiles on the back 45 degree 1x2 bricks instead of loose studs but it's an overall great piece and I don't really like the Snowspeeder to begin with!

This was a conscious decision to break down my "normal" sets and to stick to UCS style sets. 75050,75054,75055,75096 & 75105 have all been sacrificed so far.

I've also got Anio's a-wing, quigons venator and the huge zeta class transporter(Rogue One) on my list for this year.

Having pretty much worked through the backlog of UCS sets, I'm now turning my focus to UCS MOCs as well.  Already built Mort's Nebulon Medical Frigate and Cavegod's  Tie Defender.  Currently building a mini-figure scale AT-AT, based on Cavegod's AT-AT.  Got the rest of Mort's rebel fleet planned (specifically rebel transports and the Tantive IV) as well as Docking Bay 27.  Will probably also do the Rogue one, since that is amazing and reasonably cheap to source all bricks, given the number of pieces.

I'd love to build some of those MOCs but need to put larger builds on hold until I've raised cash for the garden man cave to put the existing collection in first.

This is one of the old LEGO Star Wars builds where the usage of odd colors (in this case blue) looks stylish in a way. Being a good design to begin with also helps.
