My son got named as a "top reader" in his second grade class, so he got a couple little rewards to build today... oh... and dad got a couple things, too...

It's been sitting semi-built for a few weeks. Built one of the expensive $74 WM clearance ones ;) I tossed a couple finished build shots over the one and only astrophotography shot I have. Fun build and looks great on display.

I generally try to avoiding posting after @midbenne posts his awesome pictures, but the kids finished The Phantom 75048 last night and combined it with the Ghost they built last week.  Now all they have left to build from my son's bday stash is Kylo Ren's Comand Shuttle.  Luckily my birthday is this weekend...

@uaford thank you for the compliment :) Great shots. I like the phantom, just can't bring myself to open the only one I got my hands on at a meager 10% off which is basically retail for me b/c that's my tax...so that one might stay put for a min :). Great builds. Have fun this weekend w/KR Shuttle...that's also boxed for me still but at least I got that for a little better of a discount...still probably only breaking even at the $90 I paid. (if that)

I personally love The Ghost and Phantom. I thought they were great builds and look great together. I'm also a big Rebels fan so in a bit biased.

I guess that's how it works: If you love rebels, you love rebels sets ^^

I don't know about that. I was sorely disappointed in the build of the Ghost and I like Rebels.

There are some misses with the Rebels sets.  I definitely don't love them all.

Tonight I finished the GB Headquarters, and I have to say what a fantastic set and great build, definitely one of my favourites!! Yes the walls can get a bit repetitive, sometimes the roof has got a tendency to pop up at the ends, and the fact the chairs in the kitchen aren't secured can be a little frustrating when moving the set (which I'll mod) but in the grand scheme of things this all becomes irrelevant because this set has it all. For any GB fan, they will appreciate that no detail has been overlooked, it captures so much from the films to the extent I even put my Jackie Wilson CD on and was expecting the toaster to start dancing on the pool table, but no cigar!!!7095625ec54a3dec98f06322790c1472.jpg703cfbfc9d973e7a95690abe8f1a9a67.jpgbac728221cc7a1f9871c09c60716de1c.jpgb83bb2914b1cc91213170da0497aeda8.jpgf456016317752a3bbe154b9c58b1f823.jpg

Been on a conference call 12+ hours today, so I decided to get started on 10212.

Sorting the pieces detracts from the adventure but it's a lot better than a conference call.

Just about to start building a used Kwik E Mart, 95% which wasn't delivered in numbered bags!! Oh joy!! This set has so many small detailed pieces as well, so not ideal!! 38a4428f3ab0380a0fc76295b6bc7df6.jpg

Built yesterday. Pretty nice movement with the bin raising/dumping out/lowering, the bed goes up and down as well and the door to unload also opens/closes. Not bad for a decent price last week :)  (and my big guy loves it, hasn't put it down since it was completed)

Painful to follow up those beautiful shots with these horrible iPhone ones...

I'll post this up in the BP MOCs thread when it's completed, but I spent most of Friday sorting bricks I'd already ordered, disassembling (and sorting) a Brick Bounty, and cracking open and parting out a second Brick Bounty. My total build is still missing about 90 parts I need to order, but I had enough bulk to get started. My goal is to have a customized Pirate operated ship to pair with my Imperial Flagship. Many weeks spent in LDD fine tuning the model, with lots of inspiration drawn from the original Flagship, but many of the parts borrowed from the Brick Bounty. Many more were purchased. Total count of 1968 pieces.

Here was the first portion of my progress yesterday! (It won't let me add more pics so I'll have to add the rest later on.)

My daughter was up early and built Friends Jungle Falls Rescue 41033 this morning.  Now she wants to build the Jungle Tree Sanctuary and Jungle Bridge Rescue to round out her Friends Jungle set collection.

I would be interested in seeing the final model.  I have never used LLD for my ship MOC's.  Can you make PDF instructions from the LLD program?  I woul dbe interested in seeing the details of your build.

The short answer is no.

If you head over to Eurobricks forums though, and search for "Blueprint Software" there's a fellow over there writing a 3rd party tool to do just that. It's more or less ready to go, still in beta, but ready to go on Windows platforms. I'm using a Mac and the developer doesn't have one to test/make builds with. So I did all of that by just manipulating bricks in my LDD using the hide tool. I was "smart" when I built the thing up originally, and made sure that I put all the main sections into Groups. This 3rd party tool reads and respects groups as sub and sub-sub models, and when I was working on it I'd hoped there might be a Mac version by the time I'd finished. At least I could select a group, hide all others, copy paste that group into a fresh document and then hack it apart as needed.

The whole build process is kind of unique in that sense... there are no "steps", no points where you pause to evaluate the model against the instructions before moving on to the next stage... its just sort of one continuous step. Kind of neat in that regard, but I sure would prefer instructions. Several times I had to backtrack because I missed placing a 1x1 plate etc.

Which sort of details are you referring to? Happy to inform if I can. Happy to share the LDD lxf file too if anyone wants to poke around!

Finally, I found the time to build a little bit today. It's Battle on Takodana with some Jedis visiting Maz while the bad guys are out of town.

Thankfully, there were only two stickers in need of application and the banner is made of some kind of fabric. Also, most of the parts and bricks seem to be easily repurposed for MOCs.
