I have been enjoying this thread.

When I am not investing, my main Lego activity is breaking up vintage bulk lots, concentrating on 1980's space. This has led to a pile of spare pieces and I realised I had enough to build some classic sets in different colors.

This was my first attempt in January. I think I used too much TrYellow.

 

I this one looks better.

I am building one with a TrBlue window now. This color is cheaper and more available on Bricklink.

I have also tried a few smaller sets.

The black ones look OK. I am not sure of the Black&White and Blue&White versions of 891 though.

Nice. That reminds me how I have come across a number of recolors for the Galaxy Explorer and a couple other Classic Space builds done as Blacktron, M-Tron, Spyrius, etcetera.

Here's my Blacktron 1 version of 918.

I think the two yellow 1x2 plates on top may look better in black and the red lights need moving inboard by a stud.
