November 24, 201411 yr During my package pickup today, my regular UPS guy (Who knows me all too well) gave me a heads up that UPS is expecting up to a 50% increase in deliveries this year, and that I should plan (shipping and receiving) for delays. He said I should ship stuff out a week sooner than I normally would, and that any incoming packages could be delayed up to a week as well. Obviously can be taken with a grain of salt, but nothing similar has been said to be the last few years by the fine folks at UPS. So there might be something to it. Any of you volume/last minute sellers, not to mention hot item opportunists, may want to be aware. For urgent deliveries, might want to check out 2-day or whatever.
November 24, 201411 yr Maybe since they'll be busier they might have less time to damage the packages.
November 24, 201411 yr From what I've read both UPS and FedEx have increased their capacity for the season. They've also worked with the retailers this year, whereas last year they got screwed because they let stores guarantee 12/25 delivery up until something like 12/22. I'm sure there will still be screwups here and there but everything should be good this year (assuming there isn't another giant storm)

November 24, 201411 yr Not sure if others have had this but USPS has been delivering packages on Sundays. Not surprising. You'll probably see both UPS and FedEx doing this as well in the next couple weeks, especially if you're in town. I'll almost guarantee you'll see FedEx Ground/HD trucks rumbling through your neighborhood. Edited November 24, 201411 yr by cvail8
November 24, 201411 yr After last year, I would think they are trying to keep expectations low/in check.
