79003 - An Unexpected Gathering

Featured Replies

if you were a LOTR/HObbit fan, and 10 years from now you wanted one set on your desk or shelf at work or home, you'd probably want this one.

Orthanc tower is way too big for most folks, and Helms Deep is too wide. This one is perfect, and comes with a bunch of hobbitses.

$50 today, $200 1 year after the line leaves the shelves.

Bold on the $200 prediction...I think it might go that high, but I really don't think a year is a reasonable time frame for that kind of growth. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty and love the set, but it has had a good run and has been widely available and widely discounted at times.

I see a second Black Pearl in this set.  Even though it has experienced some major discounts, I can almost guarantee that people will be kicking themselves for not buying more of these.  This is a ver

If it does retire, will it be "unexpected"?

Not a chance this set ever hits $200, probably not even above $100 with all the BPers hoarding sets now.  Just because people are reviving this thread there will be a few thousand more of this set stored away by investors/collectors.

Hello,

Here in France, call to check avalability on Lego site.

Amazon does not sell it anymore.

It may be on its way to retirement :)

If this set suddenly disappears before Christmas I could see it hitting $100 quickly.  Hard to say how many have been hoarded away.  It was released when reselling was peaking and it's universally praised so my guess is that there are quite a few in storage.

My wal mart has them for 26 bucks. Had atleast ten more when I got mine today

TAKE THEM ALL! You can't beat that price!  :money:

I know it's super cheap but I don't have anyone to sell them to lol

I'll pay you 40 per for 10 and provide ups label for shipping. Easy 100 bucks clear after 26 plus tax

Thanks but I can't. I can tell you where that walmart is maybe your not that far away. What state are you in?

I checked the city on your receipt says hour and forty away. Was down on south side of atlanta earlier so would of been only about hour then just wasnt reading bp at the time. Any other good clearance there?

Not really all sold out they had dolphin cruisers for 28 but there sold out still some jr sets tho like the batman one for 13 original price 30

I'm a little bit surprised that it wasn't mentioned yet, but 79003 is "Sold out" at LEGO Shop at Home Europe since at least Sunday.

Now if only North America would move to sold out, BPers would panic buy up all the remaining brick and mortar stock and happiness would prevail!

I'm glad to have a couple of Bilbo's houses tucked away for the future. This one will be gold in a few years--and I doubt we'll see a LEGO set like it (at least not for a long, long time).

Went to WM on Telegraph Rd in St Louis County today. They had 5 of these for $54. I told the guy I was hoping they would be cheaper by now and he said I could have two for $45 each so I bought them.

There's still five or six at a walmart near me for 26

And why are you not driving at top speed to Walmart to buy all 5 or 6??  heh

You do understand you are on the brickpicker site... "lego price and investing guide?" Yes?

Tell me the walmart so I can stop by
