February 26, 201312 yr To clarify if you use the code yoyo30a at checkout you get $20 off this set and free shipping. This is a 1 time sale for new accounts only, so if you've previously ordered from them you're out of luck. No, you can't order multiple sets either. Its designed to bring in new traffic to their store, though I'm not sure how well its going to work out for them. I'm an equal opportunity shopper, so if they offer the big sets I'm interested in at a discount price I'm all over it. Not sure how they're going to pull that off and make money though...

I don't they are losing too much money if they are only offering this as a one time deal to attract new customers.
February 26, 201312 yr It's showing 52.09 for me so thanks very much for the tip! This was a blast to build and the minifigs are among the best I've seen.
February 26, 201312 yr I thought everyone already used their 30% off. I clicked on this thread thinking yoyo had it for this price without a coupon. Misleading title.

February 27, 201312 yr For me this set is top Hobbit set so far. I do hope the make Battle of the 5 armies set and Battle at Dol Guldur
July 5, 201312 yr I am curious as to what everyone else thinks? I think it is a really possibility, but it might also stick around until the following years holidays. I think it is easily the most iconic set of the Hobbit so far, and possibly even of the whole LOTR/The Hobbit theme. Disregard Isengard (Orthanc, but I liked the rhyme).
July 5, 201312 yr I agree with you in that it is one of the most iconic sets in the whole theme. Will it last longer than 2 years? Perhaps, especially since it seems like the theme will stick around for another 4+ years. It truely is difficult to anticipate things like this, but if I had to guess, it will retire Summer next year, then be re-issued later on. Once again, this is speculating though.

I am not too worried as I haven't seen anyone start clearancing them out yet. But I don't have it and eventually will need to purchase it.
July 5, 201312 yr I am not too worried as I haven't seen anyone start clearancing them out yet. But I don't have it and eventually will need to purchase it. True. How could I forget about clearance signs? (<- I love that!) I will need to buy at least one also. I think it could have one of the biggest percentage gains in the theme! <- Me when it retires before I can buy it.
July 5, 201312 yr I wouldn't be surprised to see these selling for $120+ the first xmas after eol. It's also a really fun build.
July 5, 201312 yr As it is an iconic scene I could see them producing it right through until they stop making LOTR/Hobbit sets
July 5, 201312 yr I bet it's on a 2 yr life cycle. It wouldn't be in Lego's best interested to retire it after 13 months. Additionally, the 2013 Lego wholesale form has it listed for ordering the entire year.

July 5, 201312 yr Are you a wholesale buyer? Emazers talked about the wholesale list in a thread so Jaisonline might be referring to that.
July 5, 201312 yr I bought a used one off CL to build a few months back, it was the one that had a surprise Elrond thrown in. I still need to get some to hold onto, been waiting for a significant sale or discount.
July 6, 201312 yr Emazers talked about the wholesale list in a thread so Jaisonline might be referring to that. Darth is correct.
July 6, 201312 yr (<- I love that!) <- Me when it retires before I can buy it.I think you may need to see some professional help for that.
