April 17, 201312 yr What do you guys think of these new minifigure magnets with the cardboard back? Will they be good investments, or just a waste because the minifigs are irremovable.
April 17, 201312 yr Great question!. The Ahsoka i hacked off with a chisel survived the operation, but dunno if she is worth anything. My daughter still plays with her. Ticked me off when they started attaching them, maybe bit into Lego profits not needing to buy a set when you can get the magnet MF?

No, part of their licensing deal is they can't sell figures on their own (hence why we get battlepacks) When they sold the magnets that came off, they were in breach of the deal (Hasbro has the license to make SW figures) which is why they went back to gluing them on.
April 18, 201312 yr Author Oh, Blackjack, could you provide a link to the new magnets? Sho thang. I just saw these at a Lego Store yesterday, and that was the first I knew of them. There is a metal piece which runs through their body and into the card, so no chance of redeeming the minifig... http://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-Star-Wars-Boba-Fett-Magnet-850643

Then again, I haven't been paying much attention to the magnets either. This seems a little weird because it is just really bulky. It's more like a pin to put on a backpack than a magnet now....
April 18, 201312 yr These are probably not good investments, there are better things to invest in. Just my opinion.
April 18, 201312 yr I saw these a couple of weeks ago. They look more interesting than the standard ones but I still don't care much for magnets at all. When guys like us want minifigures, we want them to do everything a minifig should. Not just look the part. Granted they do standout but that's about it really.
April 18, 201312 yr WASTE OF MOOOOOOOLAAAAAAA IMO!!! I'd rather buy polybags all day befor I buy magnets...and polybags are even cheaper.

April 18, 201312 yr Even low appreciating polybags are a better investment than magnets in my opinion. Agreed. When you could pull the magnets off and disassemble the figs it was awesome and you could easily flip the minifigs for some decent change, Now they are worth next to nothing investment wise IMO

April 18, 201312 yr I'd buy them only if they were very deeply discounted without an expectation of profit. Just for my fridge.
April 18, 201312 yr Ugh, i've never liked the magnet figs... I do like the keychain megafigs however -- something about the larger scale is very cool.
April 28, 201312 yr Thanks for the advice wont bother with these then except super herosmfor my fridge :)
October 12, 201411 yr Hello guys, I would like to know if some of you have invested in magnets previously and if it can be successful ? For example : http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Wolverine-Magnet-851007?_requestid=2726728 Do you think it can be a good seller in 2 years after they stop selling it on the Lego Shop ? Thanks for your advices Yannick
October 12, 201411 yr I would say stay away from these as far as investments go. Lego crippled any play value to be found in them. You would be better off buying the set that has the minifigure in it if you can afford it.
October 12, 201411 yr 2009 magnets have gone up 56 cents. http://www.brickpicker.com/bpms/set.cfm?set=852552-1 Best place to start your research?
