Bricklinking the 10143 Death Star II

LEGO_10143_PIC.jpg

The Lego Starwars 10143 Death Star II is an iconic Lego set that most of us know. I have been on the lookout for this for quite awhile and whenever i saw one i couldn't get it for a right price or i got sold under my nose again.

Yesterday i lost another auction on this set so i decided to start Bricklinking it. I wan't to see how much its gonna cost me to collect all the part. At first i'm going to try to keep it to Dutch stores only and i'm already 2.000+ bricks in.

The reason i decided to start this topic is that perhaps you guys like to follow the process, i will keep updating this topic till this set is standing at my desk! (I'm going to try at least :P)

Tell me if you guys like the idea, if it is worth updating on haha.

Currently working on sorting the parts using Brickstore. Collecting Bricklink Carts in seperate files.

Nice work Hendrik and it looks good! So what you going to do with it? Keep it or sell it? If you keep it, will you display it with some lighting?

To be honest i am slightly dissapointed by the final product, it is way to oversized and fat. And the main framework can't handle the weight, it is leaning to the unfinished part (unfinished as in movie). Don't get me wrong, it is a great set. Very interesting building technics and one of the hardest Lego sets that i have personally build.

I am going to sell it, i got no place to display this wannabe-moon. I hope to get my money back, don't need to make profit.

That's too bad. But at least you made the Death Star II :) It does seem a bit fragile on its stands. I think it could look great in a very big office, perhaps with some led lighting around the deflector area. I do hope you get more out of it then just your money  back with all the effort you put into it.

Forgot to add, this is the massive internal structure. Really impressive part of the piece in my opinion.

I've spent a lot of "like it" on that topic.

Thanks for sharing, that was great.

Very nice!

I know the troubles of bricklinking UCS sets all too well with the 10179 and now finishing up a 10030.

This one will probably be my next project :)

very cool and thanks.  I have been accumulating the pieces for our build to go with our UCS collection.  I am about $200 away or so.  My wife is going to use vinyl to get the sticker, she is a serious scrapbooker and she said piece of cake!
