This is a set I have been waiting for personally. I love this set. I can tell you that I have ordered two already. One for putting away and one for putting in my foyer for Halloween. This set is an instant classic.

Why do you care? You don't invest... yet! ;)

Oh! That Orc Forge makes you such a BA investor, doesn't it?

correction: "the zombies" set makes you a BA investor

Wow. So far, 11 out of 37 people think the Haunted House is a modular. That's like 30%.

Amazing....

I voted no. At first I thought it could be, but the more I thought about it, I decided no. Mainly because it doesn't connect to other modulars, but also because the floors do not lift off and it opens like a dollhouse. As a side note, I hope that LEGO designs more buildings that open like the Haunted House does. I prefer seeing the entire inside at once rather than one floor at a time.

Ha. If I were building a modular diaroma, the HH would be dead smack next to the Green Grocer on the block.

Only $10 off, but first time I've seen it discounted.

Thanks for the heads up. Won't be picking one up, since it looks like we still have some time to grab them, but if all else fails, I might just use a 10% off coupon. ;)

Thanks. Had some credit card points so I picked one up.

Came here to announce this, already beaten me to it. Zoolert alerted me to my target Amazon price.

The problem with that style design is that you can't hinge open a house while it is connected to series of them on a city block. I understand that its nice to be able to get at the whole building but its not really a good implementation on a large layout, which really reinforces that it indeed is not a modular.

And its back up, I was hoping that would be one of those several week long sales, no such luck.

Do you think it will be on sale for a larger discount before it goes EOL?

Once it gets discounted on Amazon, there is a good chance it will be discounted again.

Good point. The Haunted House would need need to be on an end (corner)

There are many sets that don't ever get a large discount, especially ones this large and rare, since TRU has had for $170 before, I thought it was likely Amazon would sell it for that much as well at some point. I would be extremely pleased to see this for less than $170 considering how solid its price history has been.

They have discounted the modulars $50 or so in the past, so that is what it would take for me to load up on these.

I'm glad they hinged the HH. Lifting off each floor in the modulars is the main thing I don't like about them. If you really want to "play" with the modulars, it makes sense to space them apart anyway, in which case the lift off floors offer no advantage. Whereas if you just want to staticly display them, a hinged system would offer no disadvantage. But I'm not in charge at Lego, so this is what we get... :)

As of now no. But if they make a haunted village anything is possible!

I think the reason they didn't go with a hinged system is because they have to be able to connect the buildings. Would make that part a little difficult. I do actually like the idea better though. My old blacksmith shop with the blue roof is my favorite set, largely because of the hinges.

In Lego's Designer video for this set:

it is referred to by the product's designer as "a direct set". The word "modular" is not used in the video.

I feel a CUUSOO coming on... ;)

Haunted House at TRU again for $169

get it here

Thanks, I finally jumped on another one. I had some TRU Rewards to burn and you get a free Star Wars Gauntlet polybag with purchase this week.

Looks like they are all gone!

Def not a modular, it opens differently, it not build on a standard 32x32 baseplate and of course is part of the Monsters theme. However, i can see a lot of people adding it to their modular/city collection of buildings as it certainly is a nice large building, even if it does look a bit out of place and would be difficult to access when placed next to the true modular buildings.

With that modification it feels like it belongs with the other buildings
