3661 - Bank & Money Transfer

How does everyone feel about this set as a short/long term investment. It is a cool set but I am not sure how desirable it will be going forward. It was recently retired and has already begun to dry up on the retail market so I would assume secondary market prices will start to fluctuate soon. Interested to hear what you have to say.

I always liked it - I know there are a lot of police-type sets out there, but having a nice bank building gives this something a little unique. I don't know if it is going to make a huge profit, but I'm cautiously optimistic I can make a small profit on the two I have somewhere down the road.

I picked up 2 of these the other day when I was at the Lego store, figured I'd give them a chance since they are almost EOL. Plus if they don't perform well I wouldn't mind building one and adding it to my collection. I don't think it will be a huge profit set, but I believe it should follow the growth pattern of most city/town sets, a very slow but steady increase in value over the long run. I could be wrong though, guess we'll see.

I was able to get 10 of these a while back on a Target BOGO 50% off sale that ended up overlapping them putting this on clearance. I got each one for about $27 each. I am keeping one for myself and hanging on to the other 9 for a while.

Thanks for the input guys. If I can find a few sets at a decent price I might pick a few up and see what happens.

That's a great price! You will definitely be safe at that price even if this set doesn't do well. I though I got a decent deal for $38 at the Lego store on clearance. You definitely got an even better deal though, good work!

Also I'd like to add that many city sets like this take years before you see significant increase in value, or vale at all. If you are looking for a quick investment this probably isn't the set.

Agreed.

It is a nice set overall, was a Target exclusive, and already two years old (the copyright is from 2011). The cop car is one of the nicer ones I've seen & built, the armored car and bank itself has some good play features. This is also the only set with the dirtbike in red.
