Wow that looks amazing. And I like the glass display case you have as well. I'm looking for something like that for when I move out.

Yes, to the OP

where did you get the tall clear display case?

Looks like the IKEA Detolf cabinet. It only has four shelves, but they can be removed to display taller items like the ToO.

Correct it is the Ikea Detolfs with Ikea LED strips.

Great cases, i really recommend the LED strips for each floor too, really lights everything up vs just 1 at the top.

I had someone ask me for some pictures of my 10179 wall mounted and directed him to this thread, but he told me the pictures were broken/not found.. and so they are! Maybe the forum move broke/lost them or wherever i hosted them from (can't remember) had a problem.

I've taken a couple new photos as i can't find the old ones. I have not touched the thing in almost a year now. It shows no signs of warping or anything. Still the best display piece i have imo. everyone we have over loves it.

I can't edit my OP to re-include them; so i'll just add them here. If a mod wants to/can move them to the OP that would be great (not sure that's possible).

The pics in your original post are gone! Instead of moving the pics, I just removed the broken links and added a link to your latest post. I think that's good enough! :)

That still looks awesome though... Too bad you don't have it on a swivel mount so you can put it in different flying positions!

Thanks! ;)

I do actually! I'm just not confident enough my mounting mechanisms will hold without the help of the landing gear pressed against the wall haha. I'm sure it would be fine, but i have yet to take that risk.

gave you "likes" but the whole time I was thinking "G@% D*@& I hate this guy. lights and all %'ing A".  I am lucky enough to have one but thanks to my cats it needs major repairs.  If I copied you the falcon would last longer but it looks like a big undertaking.

You still have yet to greeble the wall to look like the back of the bridge of a Star Destroyer. Tsk tsk.

Such a beautiful thing.  The lighting is a great touch as well.  Love that nice glass cabinet too.

You need to hide the power in the wall!

We're actually debating moving within a year or two closer to the city (and my work) so I've put off any projects or anything that will mess with the walls and create more work for us down the line to cover up heh.

I love the placard mounted to the wall like an art museum.

Hey it is a piece of art after-all really! certainly just an expensive (if not more) than some good ones too...

I thought i'd post a few pictures of UN-mounting my 10179 just for fun!

We're moving in a few months, and i decided to tackle this as early as possible in case something went terribly wrong and i'd need to rebuild it.... This was quite the stressful event as taking it off was harder than putting it on. In the end it all went without a hitch though. I did need my SO to help out at times, but it came down with only a couple pieces falling off! Testament i think to how well i built the mount and re-enforced the build. Some of the elastic bands i used to support the weak underside have deteriorated, so those will need to be replaced.

Also included a few pictures of the mount sans Falcon for anyone curious in how i made it.

I look forward to re-mounting this in our new place ;) Enjoy!

Step 1: Remove the turret circle plate thing and reveal the main mounting area as well as unplug the power cord into the LED lights. You can see the IR receiver inside.

Step 2: Locate all technic pins that connect from the mount to the falcon frame and "unplug" them.

IMG_6241.JPG

Step 3: Push away from wall and level out the falcon so gravity holds it on the frame. The wall mount was bending/flexing under the weight so far away from the wall, this creeped me out.

Step 4: Remove all technic beams connecting frame and falcon and lift off of it's last line of support (LEGO stud connections).

Step 5: Lift off very carefully with some help and your're all done! She's safe and soundly back on the ground :)

And here's a shot of the mounting mechanism. The falcon sits right in the center and connects with the studs. From there the technic arms line up with the Falcon's frame and the technic pins slide in to hold it on the frame. The technic pieces are screwed onto the L brackets, and many technic supports are used to keep it all firmly together as 1 big piece.
