Saw this pic on reddit today. Sure the DO isn't a huge modular or anything, but man the Slave I looks massive.

I finished building the 75060 UCS Slave 1 the other day.  Here's a quick size comparison between this set with the Hasbro POTF toy (uses the Kenner 1980 toy mold) and set 8097 from 2010.  A

Have one arriving today purchased specially in the event that these sell out. I am hoping that these go up just a bit higher on ebay to make a flip worth the time. I know these are already out 30 days, but are we suspecting another Tumbler situation and an extended absence in availability? Let's raise it up!

Do you think there will be a sale of the set ?

In May you can hope for a 10-15% since you are European. Add the promo to that and you have a pretty good deal.

So I ordered one of these. It's the biggest LEGO investment I've made yet. It arrived yesterday, and the box is pretty badly creased. Not sure what to do? If I return, there's zero chance of a quick flip but I think for long term collectors the box damage will be a serious drawback. Thoughts?

In the longterm, if it's a damaged box over no Slave I, I think a collector will just accept the damaged box. My .02

Right now I would assume buyers just want to build it, so box should not matter much, just document the condition. I wonder if worth breaking the seals to take a photo of the bags to show everything is there?

I am an obsessive perfectionist, so take my credit just like that.

Intending to build a set and box condition are independent. If I build one I still keep the box in pristine state. Scratches and tears don't appear just from opening it.

However I acknowledge that most collectors don't care about the box being perfect, but still, in my opinion there is a limit to that. Scratches appear to be ok most times, but utterly destroyed boxes are a disadvantage, especially if box art (Architecture, new UCSs) represents considerable value.

Thanks for responses!

I'll probably see if I can get a LEGO store to switch it out with me at some point, damage isn't "that" bad though.

Those are probably the worst two. One or two others, but all seals are fully intact...

Man, I think it's a sign that you need to build it. I get it though. I only have one and want to flip while I can but man, it's calling my name!

Here is a Jangbricks review if you can't get enough. (Mmm, reviews.... :nyam:)

Stop posting these please. The temptation is too high. I need to buy older sets! This is too new! Damn those designers...

2x4 - Those little crunches are not a big deal at all. Don't open it to count the bags; you'll be doing more harm than good. Collector's really won't care about minor corner crunchies down the road when the S1 goes eol.

Sell the Boba fig. I had the first and lowest sold listing at $50, my bad didn't realize I underpriced, but I based it off of the Heath Ledger Joker fig. The high one at $160 is from a questionable seller but 3 others have gone for over $90 one was sold by a fellow member. There are only 3 listed now, one by the same questionable seller and two with the lowest starting at $89.

Just wanna add that I got to see this in person at my Lego store and I was completely awed! Just fricken beautiful and I like how it's pretty much spot on with the size compared to a mini figure. It is an awesome model! Nice and big. Will definitely load up on this one.

I think I will just post mine at a reasonable $5000 for a few days to see if I get any hits. If not, then clearly it is a sign that I should keep and build it instead! Although after watching the video review, it almost sounds like pieces will fall off if you look at it funny, so I am a bit wary.

Not at all build it if you are going to display it. It is very sturdy only two loose pieces not like the crumbler, I mean tumbler. That being said it is not meant to be played with.

Anyone know what the "landing gear" structure is at 5:55 of the review video? It is between the two blue engine discs and is able to extend and retract but not sure what or why.

It's just for looks.

Purchased 1 with full intent to flip it, but i just couldn't resist!

It is such a great model on display. The display stand really makes it stand out and gives it a great size/angle. And since it's taller than it is wide while on the stand; it's easy to find a small spot for on your desk/shelf.

No regrets!
