Do Lego Shop at Home maximums mean anything?

Featured Replies

Forgive me if this has been discussed elsewhere.  I was just looking at Shop at Home exclusives, thinking about my next purchase... 10225 R2-D2, ... or 10937 Arkham Asylum, ...or 10214 Tower Bridge, etc, etc...

I noticed Tower Bridge, VW T1, and Pet Shop all have a max limit of 5, ...and R2-D2, Arkham, the Triple-E, Sopwith Camel all have a limit of 2.  Could that be an indicator that the latter might be going EOL first, and the others might be hanging around a while?

Or is it maybe just an indicator of current (or anticipated) inventory, demand, etc?  For instance, the (out of stock) Tumbler is also limit 2, and it's brand new.

Sometimes, when larger sets are first released, they also have limits of 1-2, but IMO this is mainly to give the biggest number of builders an oppurtunity to buy and build the set. Personally, I wouldn't interpret it as retirement.
