The SSD I just picked up at TRU has 50R1 on the seal.  I haven't read through the production number thread, does the R1 mean first production run?  If so, they must have found this one in the back of a warehouse or something.

What TRU did you hit that had a SSD in stock?

I wouldn't recommend SmartPost or SurePost. SmartPost only covers up to $100 and last time I checked no signature options were available. Not to mention it can be extremely slow. I also don't like how the product moves through different channels, which I feel leaves it open to more damage. More transit time/more people touching it....more potential for damage. For smaller or cheap stuff that doesn't need day definite delivery times then it can be nice option. Basically anytime I get a shipping confirmation from somebody who uses these services I cringe.

If you are not careful with the size of the shipping box, then "just buy Fedex ground" could mean almost twice the difference in shipping price...

I was referring to his concern with having insurance. Smartpost can be very useful except for these larger sets that have higher values.

I'm guessing it was an online return, the TRU's by me don't normally stock exclusives.

So I see that they are going for close to $600 used on ebay. I have one new without box, how much do you see this climbing in price? Should I wait to sell? I have no rush but will the price get higher?

- If you think its coming back and can live with it, sell

- If you think its not coming back and may be gone - Hold.

I paid $100 at a local auction for it. I know I will get my money back and then some no matter what. But I want to get the max out of it.

TRU doesn't allow over-the-phone transactions, so I had to arrange a store-to-store transfer, which they do by putting the set on a return truck, moving it to the distribution center, then moving it to the store that requested the transfer. Hoping you managed to find someone else's return, but if it was the one I requested I can only say, "well played." I've got one in the closet already, just wanted a spare I could actually build.

Worst case scenario, I end up with some cash to plunk down on new star destroyers in August. Or is it a worst case if you found a different one, mine still comes through, and I still have to scratch for cash to get the new sets when they come out? Hmm...

In any case, enjoy the spoils. Hoping it turns out to be a good investment when it goes EOL (soon...?). Does anyone have a strong idea when that might be?

Being stingy over signature confirmation that costs $4 on >$500 deals is just silly IMHO. Again, insurance and signature confirmation are for the SELLERS' peace of mind

Direct signature is basically free for DV's $500 or greater. So no extra money is wasted.

In effect, you can't unselect "direct signature", once DV is above 500. So, you don't really know if it is free :-)

With FedEx you have 3 options for sig: Indirect, Direct and adult.

Indirect is where the customer can sign a door tag and leave it for the driver. The driver can also get a signature from basically anyone in the area, like a neighbor, etc.

Direct is as is from someone at that specific address. Adult sig is from someone over 21 at that address.

I can't speak of ebay pricing, etc, but if you do it online at FedEx or via your FedEx shipping software it will do it.
