oh wow. sorry to reply to my own post but it seems like just one came back in as its out of stock again. Keep your eyes on it if you are interested. They may be finding one offs here and there. Hope my box is in good shape and it actually ships. I will update the thread here

Haha, no problem.  Hope you get your SSD.  I was tempted to 'panic buy'...so kinda glad +$500 is saved (for now) lol.  I think I'll just stay away from this set all together, you can't collect/invest in everything.

Let me clarify. I never said that sets do not show similar growth in non-US countries after EOL. They do. Prices are different, but their CAGR growths are similar. My point was that reselling, due to discounts and cheaper sets, is more of an North American phenomenon IMO and the activity we have seen lately is centralized around American retailers. I don't live in the UK or Europe, but what from I hear on these forums, I just don't see the same sort of fervor when members discuss buying sets in non-US regions.

So we just have less market to resell but even if we have less of fervor in UCS set, the price will still growth and we'll make same profit (a little bit less because less of discount) if we find a buyer for it ;-)

pretty much.... :umbrage:

Maybe, but we don't get awesome clearance deals, never ever.

Didn't the UK just have 50% off all Lord of the Rings sets as a clearance?

I wonder if its not a case of being much more rare in non-US markets, but they're harder to find as the reporting of clearances is in its infancy there.

I NEVER would have thought there were as many clearances as there were in the US until sites like this started making them easy to find.

If i went to a Target the usual amount of times per year, say, 12. I'd NEVER know there were lego clearances, because the good stuff often lasts days if not HOURS.

Just a thought, perhaps the clearances do happen overseas, they're just not as reported, so folks aren't aware of them in time.

That is on selected items only and of course, the least desirable ones :)

I still need one of these for personal enjoyment at least. Would love an investment set too. Hmmmm, credit limit was just increased by my credit card people today at their initiation. Is this a sign?   ;)

EU folks should be happy that there is still discounts on exclusives while it is strict no discount policy in US.

Yes, the potential for profit appears to be very similar among all the regions.

Where is that? There are no discounts over here, Amazon killed them at the same time US exclusives discounts ended. This guy pointed at a single moment last year and in France. Probably a small b&m shop. I do not believe it was LEGO Shop at Home.

and...it's gone.

Pretty big SW fan myself, but i just don't really like this set. Obviously many do and this is just my personal opinion, but the fact that i really don't like it and the painfully high price has made me shy away from this one.

The Lego store in Sherway (Toronto) still had some a week or so ago for any locals still looking. Of course they might be gone at this point. Especially since TRU (which is many's last resort place to panic buy) seems to be out of stock.

News on 10221 super star destroyer?

Hmmm.... there really ain't any news, is there?  But interesting theories anyway,

Amazon (click on the new link): Back-ordered. Due in stock June 23 -- order now to reserve yours

I'm not seeing it Tony. All I get is "Note: This item is only available from third-party sellers (see all offers.)"

You have to be quick...LOL. I guess we will be seeing that over the next couple of weeks. I am waiting for mine today from last weeks order. I wonder what kind of condition they will be in.

I was wondering the same thing, mine should be delivered Thursday.
