August 16, 201411 yr I have been in this game since January 2013, so I missed the early modular houses. It's now my goal to get them all on display. Some more are coming but here's the current status of my project with some noticeable gaps: I will update this thread as I fill them in!
August 16, 201411 yr The dinosaurs really bring the whole display together. Don't forget to get a Haunted House.
August 16, 201411 yr I have all mine on my desk, though I have not purchased Parisian yet. It gets lots of nice comments about how cool they all look together.
August 16, 201411 yr Best get a GE before it retires/goes OOS for good, which is bound to happen eventually. How do you intend on displaying the corner modulars if you have them lined up chronilogically like that?
August 16, 201411 yr Author Yes, the Pet Shop has added some big stock on the roof. As far as display, I guess I'll just display the corners from the side at first. I really want to see them all lined up chronologically. I don't have space to point the corner out front. As it is, this shelf isn't long enough and I'll need to add another one above or to the right!
August 16, 201411 yr Kudos on having the Market Street. That is the only one I am missing. They do look nice all together.
August 16, 201411 yr I like you current display, especially the dinos on the top of the Pet Shop. Hopefully you will be able to complete your display. I would get a GE when it comes back in stock so that you don't miss it.
August 16, 201411 yr Nice work. Cool idea for a display project. Now it's things like this we should encourage more! As investors we want people to decide one day to start back collecting old sets like the modular lines, or all the LotR sets, or all the UCS sets, etc. That's what fuels a good chunk of secondary market price growth.
August 16, 201411 yr That's a good start. The first three are too rich for my blood. What I'm wondering is when they are going to announce the next modular. Seems like it should be soon.
August 16, 201411 yr Be patient and you can find the cafe, fire brigade, and market for a good price on ebay. I bought an incomplete cafe corner and counting the parts I ordered and the original cost, I paid $150 for it after I sold some additional sets in the lot. Same for the market street.
August 17, 201411 yr I just bought a bulk lot with the Cafe corner, Market Street and Green Grocer so I will have my block completed in a matter of weeks! - Keep going, you'll get there!
August 18, 201411 yr Author Nice finds, guys. I dream of such a bulk lot. Plans are in the works, though, and I might be able to complete this.
August 18, 201411 yr Its getting harder to display the whole collection. ive got the complete set of modulars + haunted house and it takes up a whole wall.
August 31, 201411 yr I know the World Cup is over, but you really need to change the title to "goooaaaallll".
August 31, 201411 yr Author Lol, sounds like a mod request. I wish the next world cup started tomorrow!
August 31, 201411 yr Very good progress. I need to get the Parisian myself to get myself caught up. I should get a picture of my desk with the modulars on top ot it.
October 9, 201411 yr Author This took a little longer than I expected but I'm finally done! Bring on the Detective Agency, hope it's cool.
January 8, 201510 yr Author Detective Agency added, and it is way cool...I probably only have room for one more!
January 8, 201510 yr Detective Agency added, and it is way cool...I probably only have room for one more! very nice display. I like how you've added more supports over time. That's lots of weight now
January 8, 201510 yr Nice display. I myself am planning to build all my modulars (all except cafe corner and market street) in a town layout. Will post pics when I'm done but may take some time.
January 9, 201510 yr I know the feeling with the modulars. My wife has all of them built except the first 3. GG, CC, and MS. I would absolutely love to own those 3 sets, but the aftermarket price is just beyond stupid for those sets. I might try to find a used set for them, but I doubt it. They are sooo awesome all linked together. I can't wait to see what the next modular is going to be.
