August 14, 201411 yr Has anyone tried to advertise that they buy Lego? Around here there are a number of ads stating they by bulk, collections, sets, etc. If anyone has done this, what is your success rate? Any issues? Thanks,
August 25, 201411 yr I am curious too about this. It always crosses my mind to put an adv. up. But never done it cause I think it will not be successful.

August 25, 201411 yr I think you would waste time and money with adverts. Better to regularly scan second hand sites for good deals and to verbally mention to people you buy from that if they have friends or family, that they can contact you to sell their Lego
August 25, 201411 yr Does anyone have business cards? I was thinking about printing them mentioning I buy lego on them. Or is that too cheesy?
August 25, 201411 yr Does anyone have business cards? I was thinking about printing them mentioning I buy lego on them. Or is that too cheesy? That on the other hand is not a bad idea.... Ciglione Lego Restauration & Sale Doesn't seem cheesy to me unless it's printed on ordinary paper
August 25, 201411 yr Hmmmm... doesn't look bad at all... you are right! Maybe that is what I will do when I have time... make a nice design and order them online. I can also leave them at local toyshops if people ask for retired sets which they do not have. Some time ago I was looking for a legoset in a toyshop. I asked the owner and the lady said that particular set was not sold anymore. Then she gave me a business card of someone that maybe could help me out. I contacted the fella and he had alot of lego sets indeed. Just not the one I was looking for. But could have been.
August 25, 201411 yr Author I posted an ad on CL offering to buy Lego. My first response on the first day as a biggie. Seller had roughly 50+ pounds of Lego that he wanted to sell. He also had a stack of the instructions. Here is the list. Number - QTY 6086 1 6090 1 6276 1 6988 1 6071 1 6195 1 6983 1 6973 1 6957 2 6955 1 6062 1 6175 2 3053 1 6981 1 9492 1 6386 1 6180 1 6049 1 9493 1 6923 1 6939 1 5958 1 6048 1 6265 1 7126 1 6969 1 6999 2 6381 1 6047 1 6442 1 7130 1 6887 1 6898 1 6259 1 6896 1 2153 1 6590 1 3050 1 6919 1 6261 1 6675 2 6582 1 1822 1 4012 1 6836 3 6876 1 6037 1 6043 1 6879 1 1821 1 8816 1 9490 1 6878 1 1737 1 6027 1 6155 1 5938 1 6007 1 6877 1 6831 1 6851 1 6556 1 6812 1 6458 1 6829 1 6531 1 5918 1 6909 1 6852 1 6811 1 6813 1 6125 1 6467 1 6572 1 6465 1 6115 1 6453 1 6837 1 6835 1 6235 1 6903 1 6107 1 6452 1 8825 1 6818 1 6463 1 6431 1 6324 1 6585 1 6110 1 6626 1 1461 1 2880 1 That is 99 sets. I don't expect 100% completion on that whole list but the top 10 sets are looking close and those are the meat of this lot. I paid $350 for all. Now comes the fun of cleaning, sorting, building, posting and selling! I did notice that the baseplate for Black Knights Castle is missing, all others are there. Also looks like all the minifigures are there as well. Too bad the forest and ninja females were re-released. Those used to be very valuable. I'll get some pics up around lunch time.
August 25, 201411 yr Author Well, I did put up an ad last week. I got 4 responses on the first day. If I had unlimited funds I would have went after 3 of them. The first response however was awesome. Here is the post about it link. I would advise anyone to at least trying to advertise buying Lego, if it is Free, what could it hurt?
August 25, 201411 yr Are you kidding me man... that's gotta be a couple thousand right there. All the 90s space and castle stuff... Congrats
August 25, 201411 yr I can't easily merge from my phone but why would you not just include that with this post?

August 25, 201411 yr I did in local freeads after Xmas (unwanted gifts) but, sellers were wise, knew the value and asked too much like I would. These days, there are lots of deals around but, I'm not buying right now.
August 25, 201411 yr Author Here's some pics of the bulk I got. Not the best, just quick shots from my phone. I can't wait to start building when they all dry. Last shot is the forest female torso. I was always partial to Forestmen sets.
August 25, 201411 yr Wow nice job, I always assumed those ads brought about fake replies from resellers trying to sell their scraps or just mess with you. Super jelly.
August 25, 201411 yr Why put the add for buying lego? It usually attracts 'dump lots'. May look good but wait till you dig in. There are plenty of adds out there of people selling their lego because their kid got tired of it and it has been collecting dust since. I like the idea of some sort of business cards better. You go visit people that you buy some second hand lego from and if the lego looks decent, you give them a card. One condition, both buyer and seller need to have the feeling that they're actually making a good deal and not being ripped off. I encountered alot of soccermoms or families selling the lego of their kids. 2 weeks ago I met a Turkish woman that sold 4842 Hogwarts Castle for 85,5

August 25, 201411 yr While there may be plenty of selling ads if you live in a competitive area like I do you will rarely get these. The ad has sold within 20 mins of posting. Posting an ad has the seller come to you. You just need to be smart about your purchases and know what to look for. Out of the 15 replies I got only 3 of those looked to have any potential. I do like the idea of having a business card. Years back I bought a bulk lot where they had a complete Cafe Corner and Green Grocer. Paid $150. The seller said that they split her sons collection into two bins, one to sell and one for her classroom (she was a 2nd grade teacher). As I starting digging through the lot I notice parts and minifigs to the Cloud City set. I believe that the bulk of that set went into the "Classroom" bin. I wished I had given her a card or offered on the other bin. I makes me sick that possibly a printed Boba Fett is being tossed around a bin by some grubby 2nd grader. Plenty of competition but most too greedy and too lazy.
August 26, 201411 yr Never gotten anything on craigslist advertising buying. Several more people in my town doing it too.
