    RIP Kenny Baker

  • Finally, my R2 shelf is complete. Thx for everyone's contribution. I think I'm going to start another row of these. These will not be on the market again for a minimum of 4 years.

If supraboy and christopherjb ever met face to face, it would cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! Grante

These were great when they were $139.95, no tax, w/ the free teddy bear at Amazon.com.

And Even better for the ones who got them for $120-$127 at Barnes And Noble using the 30% Kidsclub coupon and 10% Membership card.

You're such a kid. :sword:

Remember when the Barnes and Noble coupons (non kids club) specifically stated they could not be used on the Death Star and R2-D2 sets?

Yeah, guess who caused that to happen?

Buy the time Barnes and Noble Finally caught on with the 30% Coupon all the R2-D2 and Death Stars in the Baltimore,Md stores they were all bought.

Not too long ago you could walk in and buy as many as you wanted. Forget this and move on to the other great Star Wars sets still available at MSRP!

So that's what a stack of hotcakes looks like...

There will be other opportunities. You can not catch them all.

Congrats

After consulting a few seasoned investors, I picked up three of these at an average price of $304 USD shipped over the past week.  Prices continue to climb but I'm a buyer at anything less than $325 shipped.  I'm not sure if that will happen again, though.

I think I'd rather be buying Slave 1's with that extra dough, just sayin'.

Then you are both gonna be holding for an equally long time! I´d rather be getting ToO´s unless the Slave was well reduced.

Short term, R2 is the better investment.   By the time the time the Slave I retires, R2 can be $500 or more and be sold and the profits reinvested into multiple Slaves.

Buy low and slow.

Buy high...sell higher.

If you said $700 at the time Slave 1 retires, I wouldn't have much rebuttal.  Slave 1 could take a quick jump after retirement, which might make it the better investment at this time.  We're not dealing in absolutes like Anakin Skywalker.

Hypothetically speaking...if a flipper bought an R2 for $300 today, it is not out of the realm of possibility that he doubles that by next winter in the heart of STAR WARS mania.  It is such a popular character and with no other set like it, he can reach those levels in my opinion.   I do not believe the Slave I will retire next winter, so the opportunity could be there to acquire 3 Slaves from the original $300 in the span of a year.

Now you're saying $600, so I'm starting to get on board.

I think R2 hits $750 at Christmas,

This year.

Keep bumping up that number and we might be investing in some Canadian loonie with the profits.

I am hyped on it but I have been I have been thinking $750 for quite some time.  There is no bounds to what Star Wars nuts (myself included) will spend to get what they want.  Put it with Christmas and the Movie and Bam.
