I agree. I read a lot about the Sea Cow and nearly got scared out of buying them up. I have been making 50-60% off my sea cows so far in the past 3 days of selling.

This tumbler is a no brainer. Watching both sides of the argument is quite interesting. I will do what is right and will make myself believe I am making the right decision by buying another 10 today.

One for one is obviously not a good business decision for me.  Current values suggest a ~4.5 tumblers to one SSD.

This isn't going to be Orthanc or Red Five or Sea Cow. Once it is gone, it is going to BE gone. 1) Shortest shelf life for an exclusive in recent memory. 

2) It's an iconic vehicle and not a play set. Vehicle > Building > Play set (with some notable exceptions). If AA is your reason to steer clear of the Tumbler, you're wrong.

3) It's from the best Batman series that will probably ever be made. They're going to keep trying, but Nolan's trilogy will remain the king, at least in my lifetime. See #5 below.

4) Heath Ledger's Joker.

5) Batman is.... well, Batman. Whether he Begins, Returns, is Forever, Rises, or faces off against Superman, he is never going away. Ben Affleck is going to make people long for the Dark Knight Trilogy and the 76023. 

Get them while you can. If you pass, you'll be sorry you missed this one.

4) Ledger's performance as the Joker will likely never be topped—he won an Academy Award, for Pete's sake—and I'd put him up there with Vader and Hannibal as one of the greatest movie villains ever. Ledger's untimely death magnifies his legendary status (James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, and River Phoenix, anyone?) and it means that there is no danger of his Joker being watered down by a lousy sequel. He was one of a kind, the performance was one of a kind, and the minifig will remain one of a kind.

Not sure what it would prove one way or the other then because I wouldn't pay $950+ for an SSD cash now and I certainly wouldn't give $950+ worth of inventory for one. For the record I do like the Tumbler. I don't think it is going to be a massive flop like most Batman. I just don't think it is going to be a huge massive hit like some. There is middle room.

If you're so enamored of the exclusive Joker minifigure, stock up on ebay. There are plenty of them for $23. This should not be considered a selling point of a $200 set.

Anyways, since Warner decided not to go with this version of Batman's continuity, the interest in these movies and the Tumbler in general will fade. It's no R5 or Death Star. The classic version of the Batmobile is the only one that is timeless. There will be many more.

I watched the movie more than ten times and never got bored. If Heath Ledger was still alive, I'd say that Joker in this set wouldn't be worth as much.
Batman itself has been around since the 1930s, Star Wars since the 1970s. I put my money on any Batman collectible before putting them down on any Star Wars collectible.

Fair enough on what you would pay...Even on the Bay the prices have breached 1K for the 10221 so I feel my perceived value is close.  Thank you for your own assessment.

Which version is the classic?  In comics history there have been many Batmobiles and there will continue to be new additions in the movies.  I don't think this takes anything away from the previous versions, especially when it comes to merchandising.  Just look at all of the Batmobiles Hot Wheels has made in different scales including Batman '66, 1989, Returns, Forever, Batman & Robin, Dark Knight, Arkham video games, etc.  Mattel recently made the Arkham Knight version in 4" figure scale and Hot Toys made the Tumbler and 1989 version in 12" scale.  I think the Tumbler will be remembered for a long time because it is unique and part of a great movie trilogy in the history of the franchise.  Batman has been around a long time and will continue to be at the forefront of super heroes in popular culture.

It is a selling point if you want to make sure you're not getting a counterfeit one.

Is it odd that the Tumbler doesn't tumble at all, but the bike inside it does?

That's right. The Joker IS one of the selling points, however, those wheels, unique pieces, and the design are the other hot stuff in this set.

I find that one can gauge interest based on number of pages in a thread. Compare this to other exclusives, this by far has generated more responses than any other pages. You need to factor in time. This was out for only a year or so. More responses than ToO, EEE, TH, SSD, DS, GE, FB, etc.......

Either there are lots of batman fans posting here to jack up page count, or this is the real deal.

14 pages of pre release hype and another boatload since the retiring soon tag was put on. TLG can give its marketing dept.the afternoon off.

When there are more pages of ebay sold items than the above sets, it´ll be the real deal.
