76023 - The Tumbler

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGw5jwBlcxY

Posted this video on another thread but I felt it needed its own thread. At 2:26, he mentions a UCS tumbler coming soon!!!

No idea where thebrickshow got that info from but I'd love to see pictures of it soon!

Cut seals and verify contents. It's the only way to know for sure. You'll probably make 5%-10% less when you go to sell but it's better than shipping a buyer a box of puzzle pieces mixed with mega bloks or a set with no mini figs.

Yep. This. And take good photos for your ad. It's not a huge deal and will actually give peace of mind for the buyer spending  hundreds on a set.

Need some advice here.  Called Shop at Home last Friday on the advice of a local store employee to see if I could order.  To my amazement they thought they could.  Order just arrived today, but I have concerns about the the tape on one end. Two of the three strips look like they could have been lifted and then put back again. Should I be concerned something was taken?  I want to keep it mint, but don't know what to do.  Seal 41 btw .

Thanks for the advice!  All 18 bags, tires, books, decals, and figures are present.  One thing I noticed and had not before (possibly because this is my first UCS set) is that all the larger bags have a copyright of 2011 on the bag and all the smaller bags have a copyright of 2007 on them (listed right below the number on the bag).  Have never paid attention to this before.  Is this common?  Is the copyright just on the bag itself?  Obviously the Tumbler was not around in 11 or 07.

I've seen some seals look like that on multiple sets, and I've always wondered why that is. The end of the tape seal always looks like it hasn't been peeled away though, so I've always assumed they were alright. Glad to see that in your case it was fine.

Yes the bags have their own ID number and copyright date. For the most common numbered bags this date is 2011. There are newer bags (with a white line down the center) that have (c) 2015.

It appears that Smyths have done a bit of a naughty by putting the price of the Tumbler up by £10 a couple of weeks back. Some people on social media have been on to Smyths and had a tenner refunded claiming that they have spoken to Lego who were not happy to hear about it and that they may have breached a contract agreement about raising the RRP (or something along those lines). I've bought a couple since the price went up so am about to fire off an email and hopefully will get £20 Smyths bonus money back like others already have ;)  Get on it :)

One for me and one for my brother bought in store on different days ;)  Plus, I can live without Smyths anyway. And how would they ban me from walking in to a store and buying an item with cash? Unless they pass my name on to Lego and they ban me of course :(

That should not be an issue, I was merely cautioning you to tread carefully with matters regarding multiple purchases of the same items.

Sounds like you know about this first hand

I understand, no worries :)

Honestly appreciate the bits of advice given on here as there are many potential pitfalls.

If one doesn't try to stand out & excel, they shouldn't expect to reap the same rewards. I didn't grow up in the "every player should get a trophy" culture. So, yes, it was either sink or swim from the get go...

Getting back to the topic. Which one of you just scored that Target Tumbler return?

Edited by dcdfan

Wasn't me. But I'm awefully pissed that they cancelled mine 2 days ago, after waiting a month backorder..... Grrr...

I'm building that one......assuming it ships.

Apparently some folks don't mind moving this at a smaller profit - About 2-3 weeks ago when it first started dancing, there were around 80 Amazon sellers. Now it's up to 100 here in the US.

Tumbleritis seems to be spreading. Hope it isn´t as contagious as advent calendaritis.

Customer services got back to me by email this morning. £20 giftcard on the way in the post. Sorted :)

Call Lego and see if they can help you out or buy the manuals on bricklink.

Nice!

What is the general rule for this? I have seen smaller Lego stores increase the price of older sets before, but rarely a big retailer. There is a law here that states you cannot increase the price for six weeks before a sale. A lot of stores used to trick customers by increasing the price a week before the sale and then putting the item 'on sale' at retail price.

I'd guess that the general rule is that the store can charge whatever they like. The law in the UK on sales is that you can only advertise it as a sale versus a previous price if you have had it at that price for at least six weeks in the last six months in a certain % of your stores. You can always advertise it as being below RRP (if it is) so long as it's not marked as a 'sale' price.
