I don't really understand what's happening with the tumbler. More deliveries still yet to come in smyths, LEGO Shop at Home getting them back in temporarily. Finding it very weird.

Red 5 is back to "retired" now but not tumbler. Want to know what happening...

I suspect it's stock that Smyths have had sat in a warehouse somewhere, or stuff that other retailers have not sold and returned - which has then been picked up by Smyth's/LEGO.

Don't seem to be any brand new seal codes, so it's not a fresh batch. Just stock working it's way through the system after EOL.

Seems there was one last huge pre Xmas run of Tumbler in week 43 and there are still some units moving around out there. Any advance on week 43 in Europe?

The Tumbler seems to be the most massively horded large set out there, with already optimisticticly-sized stockpiles still being frantically augemented daily .

I forsee a looooong hold on this one until prices become moderately decent.

This is pretty typical for large set retirements the past couple years.

1 month advance warning from Lego did not help.

Those Tumblers in Smyths Sheffield were there an hour ago - C&C may not show stock but they have them, for how long I don't know.

edit: If C&C is showing as available, it only lets you have 1 per order. To order more you have to put through another order.

More information.

Yeah, I made two separate orders but one was mysteriously cancelled - so no idea why that might be. Not too fussed though as I'm happy with what I'm holding right now and can play the waiting game, as people have said it seems like a lot have rushed out and bought these in bulk so I'm not too bothered about getting a lot of them.

FYI that home delivery stock has already gone. Has been going in/out for home delivery all week but they only seem to have a few available each time.

Now there is a bug on German LEGO Shop at Home. If i try to search tumbler, the site will always reload and dont show results.

If i try to get to the tumbler by selecting the theme "Superheroes" and want to switch to the 2nd site, the starting page will be loaded...

Here's how I see it: at the moment Lego dropped the "retiring soon" tag, the number of Tumblers in existence was already fixed - it was finite. Lego was finished producing them and it was just a matter of when they would sell out, not if.

All the "advance warning" did was accelerate that process by several months.

So every "end user" who would have bought a Tumbler in March of 2016, or June of 2016, or November of 2016 from Lego or Amazon or wherever else for RRP is now going to buy one from us for 50% to 100% more.

Plus, the timing was such that a LOT of new kids on the block bought these en masse and they are the same people flipping them now for $20-$50 profits with no idea how much more they would be making if they just had a little patience.

Put differently, which would you prefer: a 16 month production and then one month for everybody to stock up, or a five year production and then disappearing without advance notice?

Strange, I took that photo when I went to get my C&C around 12.40 so they definitely still had plenty. Might pop down later and pick up another if they still have some, I'm in no rush to sell and it looks like most people are shifting them straight on which is good.

Lets see if we can go 48 hours without a Tumbler post, starting........1...2...3... Right Now Go!

That is precisely how I viewed the situation. 41999 with legs long term. The difference is I don't have a certain UK speculator with daddy's money knocking on my door to buy all of my stock for $500 each. If ever there was a time to corner the market...

That is not a new bug - has been doing this for me for months and months on the LEGO Shop at Home US site. There's something going wrong with cookies and their crappy website. Anyways, just open up an Incognito/Private Browsing window and go to shop.lego.com there - you should have no issues.

I'm lost. Why do we not want a post? This is a forum... [emoji15]

I don't think this thread can go 48 minutes without a post...

Saul good man! READING other threads about retiring products will tell you all you need to know about the behavior of the Tumbler. The only thing abnormal about the Tumbler is the length and topics of this thread!

I agree that all it did was speed up purchases so we should never give too much importance to time on the market when there is a goldrush stampede in the last month or so.

Based on the DS, I´d have preferred and 8 year life with no warning, even though for this set it probably would have been 2 years if no one had shouted out.

We had the same thing here in Architecture - UN and Villa Savoye went quietly and are doing nicely but IH didn´t and isn´t.

I guess TLG saw how well it was selling and decided, why retire it? It's a top seller! Spin up the machines and crank out another 10 million!
