Just cancelled 5 Tumblers from Walmart, so they should pop back up on the website at some point.

I only think it's fitting for this topic as the box is bigger than most at this price point. I'm not saying keep posting, just saying maybe it's fitting...

It's silly to think because of a few articles the last month, that all of a sudden everyone and there brother bought all the Tumblers everyone had in stock.........  Did the Tumblers go to many a resellers, perhaps; but not nessecairly newbies.......

No, obviously it wasn't just new re-sellers. This site had has had a massive influx of new members in the last few months, put it down to whatever reason you want... I have mine. After reading through many posts from newer members and the what did you buy today thread the tumbler seems to have been a very popular choice. Nothing wrong with that, but I think it will have a noticeable effect on this sets growth.

Well... I agree with your sentiment. But who else should have bought them?

Only because of about 25% Damaged boxes Target & Walmart sold.  It's a good reality check for those new ones that did dive in......Sorry.   Not really though.  Lol

Can we please stop posting box conditions? No one cares, and it's not Tumbler-specific. Every day I see there's a new page in this thread, but when I skim through it, it's just:

How was your box?

Assuming of course you mean gold, the main difference here is that with Lego, there are hundreds of potential "rare earth metals" to consider, and probably 90-95% (roughly, I have not taken the time to bust out my protractor) will not ever explode in value like all of the prospectors are hoping for. Therefore, picking wisely, experiencing builds, measuring popularity, and putting yourself in the mind of the common consumer are vital towards solid investing decisons. Not all Lego is gold!

What I was rather trying to say: You dont need first-hand experience with something to judge its potential right.

Guys, the EU is not the USA. Over here we had very short notice of EOL and it was very hard to buy a lot of these unless you started buying early. The US had prior warning of retirement with what looks like stock available in the thousands online and it still lasted 3 weeks to sell out.

Probably the EU has a years start on this set.

I agree, it was all "whaaaat ? the tumbler has retired ? no way !" and lots of guys (builders & investors) checking for tumblers in B&M shops to get one set (or many).

Last week-end I saw some panic here and there on the internet. A little sad I would say for the builders but HEY, this set is 18months old, a buyer had 2 Xmas seasons and 1 birthday to have a reason to get one so I'm not so sad...

Again, EU investors who purchase their sets at the very last moment have been caught by surprise. I'm sure this set is not as hoarded here as it could be in the USA.

Actually a lot of the box problems were tumbler specific.  I don't remember any set having this problem.

And... I only have two. Stupid me.

Come on, it was marked retiring soon for 3 weeks - DS didn´t give a sniff of a chance and I know more people that put off getting that one (incredible as it may seem).

Those 3 weeks = a year more shelf life in terms of hoarded sets - we´re not seeing it yet because noone is selling with a full RRP buy in but just wait and see......

I wish it went the other way around with the US getting a surprise retirement. I was ready for this. Now I have to wait for that girl, her uncle, Big head Joe and your dentist to sell their 30 Tumbblers first.

Yeah, you guys have it much worse. Tumbler will be as common as Windows 95 was over the pond.

Maybe I misunderstand your post, but "retiring soon" is a low indicator on the LEGO Shop at Home , many sets have the "retiring soon" logo for months, it's a way to help sales for old sets...

It's ok having something marked as retiring soon but if you can only buy a few over that period it is meaningless. Aside from that DS gave a huge sniff this summer, if you go back on the DS thread you might realise that was the case.
