You can sell this for cheaper shipping on the continent. Registered shipping for the Tumbler (3.47kg for box alone) would cost us about 55 euro from Ireland to the continent. Hard to compete with that overhead at current prices to make the margins worth it,

Ordered one from Smyths yesterday and it arrived this morning, sent off an email querying the price increase and they just replied saying that had refunded me £10 so definitely worth contacting them in you buy one at the current £169.99 price.

The same outcome for me, however I sent an email and a customer services representative replied quite abruptly stating that Smyths are well within their right to change prices without prior notice, and I should have noted the price as advertised before placing my order!!!!!! After reading your post I then phoned them up and spoke to a nice gentlemen that was quick to refund me £10 without hesitation !! So if anyone else gets an email reply from someone who was having a bad day, I suggest a follow up phone call as well !!

No projected date for re-stocking on the Smyths website now. Stores either showing stock or out of stock. Could it finally be running out for good? Hope so

Not over here anyway, I was in 5 Smyths in 2 days around Dublin and counted about 50 Tumblers, be a while before that's eaten into. 

Although could be that we get a blow out and they clear them for €150.

Yes, it's all well and good that Irish stores have stock (as usual) but the point I was making is that Smyths as a company are not (at the moment) predicting that they will be having any more (additional stock) available in future, whereas for the past however many months they've always been saying on the website that stock will be available again shortly. Many posters in Ireland have formerly stated that they can't be bothered to ship them anyway so I'd suggest that Ireland is making very little difference to things on the whole. We know Ireland have loads of stock for some strange reason, we can see it on the website. Do we have to be told this every time we post anything about the Tumbler? It's pretty much a given anyway. The Tumbler will be selling for £400 in two years time and Smyths Dublin will still have 50 Tumblers in at £169.99.

Just because some people don't sell overseas doesn't mean everyone doesn't. The point about the Irish stock levels is that if those Tumblers are still there in 2 years time, then you won't be getting £400 in the UK, because anyone looking to make a quick buck from over here will be able to undercut you. With the exchange rates the way they are, you're paying a lot more for these than we are anyway.

This is a global business, it's very easy to underestimate that, most of my business has been to the UK and the continent, with even some to the US and Australia.

if i could find a place that sells and ships to Australia, then i'd certainly get myself one! i'm having all sorts of difficulty finding somewhere that is stocking them at the moment.

You mean our daily Smyths updates aren't as exciting as your multiple daily Smyths updates??? We can see the English Smyths website too for stock appraisal.

It was only me and one other poster who said we're not bothered shipping yet. When English stock tumbles (lol geddit? hilarious), Irish will soon follow. Maybe even excess from here shipped to English stores. Who knows? It's all very thrilling really.

All I know is that when England taps out, it's more affordable to ship to there rather than the continent so then I'll start taking the Queen's shillings!

Unfortunately I think you've missed the boat on getting the tumbler at a reasonable price from overseas.

my only advice would be to keep your eyes peeled on Target Australia's eBay store, their website and their catalogues.

Target was the only Australian countrywide retailer selling the tumbler and had two drops of it in the last year that I'm aware of.

  There may be a slight chance Target have one last big order on the way but every man and his dog is going to want one so if it does come you'll need to be ready to buy it at a moments notice if you want a tumbler, or two, or a few.

For the really popular big sets you really need to buy them when they arrive and are on sale here in Australia as we have no Lego stores and drops of big highly desirable sets are few and far between, and we never know when the last drop is going to be before a set suddenly retires never to be seen again.  If your buying for investment this is the only reliable way to ensure you have the big ticket sets in Australia at least.

For me I do this to make sure my kid never misses out on the great sets by following this rule and storing them away for birthdays, rainy days and let's just build Lego today days.

Dang it. If my local store would still have 50 Tumblers I would have at least bought half of them...

crazy, hey? oh well. i missed the boat and i'm not really interested in swimming for it. that said if target re-stock, i'll be all over it! haha!

speaking of which, had a look at target, big w, dj's and myer tonight. absolutely nothing on offer although myer and big w did have the millennium falcon 75105 for $249 & $245 respectively. i held off though. uh oh, this isn't a star wars thread! my bad!

You're right in that most people here are either not savvy enough, not committed enough, or don't have enough time to do what I suggested. This is a legitimate business for me, so doing stuff like this on the side is pretty second nature... but for people just looking to earn some extra spending money, they most likely won't be dedicated enough to do this.

For the profit, I am factoring in the profits each month. Start with $200, end the first month with $220... then reinvest that entire $220 - not just $200. Also worth noting this isn't limited to LEGO, so I might start with $200 and buy a Tumbler... but next month I might spend that $220 on adult diapers instead. For people who want to buy LEGO and nothing else, reinvesting becomes even more difficult.
