That's $20 off retail, maybe $30 after tax. They seem to vary on ebay, but I don't think it's a terrible idea!

  • Depends on who you ask. I would place it on the smaller end of the large sets. For me, anything with over 1,000 pieces is considered a larger set for Technic. A medium set is from 500 to 999, an

Let me put it this way, this car was aimed at adults who likes to fiddle around with the car after it is built.

I have an opportunity to buy a lego 42000 set new and sealed for 102.50 no tax. What do you all think about the deal?

I was leaning the same way. Around West Texas the only retailers that carries them for a 5.5 hours drive distance are TRUs. TRU prices the set at $159+tax -- ouch!

Thanks for the thoughts. Have good one!

As for building, its a sweet set so go for it.,

U think 42000 will go below the current $98 deal from uk amazon going on right now?

Thxs.  Eventually I want to get some of these and looking for the right price entry point.  If uk amazon had the same deal on the service truck, I'd jump.

I am wondering how this set will do after EOL. It looks really nice in my opinion.

I'm very surprised by the fact that the common price here is about -20% MSRP, anytime, anywhere (on the web).

That's the reason why I'm holding and have only one set (got with 30% off, easily again)...

I'm really not sure but have a bad feeling about it (CAGR about 0/5 % IMO), and the fact that there is no licence (mac laren, ferrari, etc.) will not help IMO.

Although this is a tough comparison given the difference in release dates, the 8461 Williams F1 Team Racer is very similar to 42000 in size and shape, albeit with a license. The price guide has the Williams going for $400 NISB. FWIW-
