Many pooh-poohed the UCS B-wing.  I rather liked the model, but admit some changes were needed.  I attempted to make the changes I felt were necessary to become a true UCS model.  Pictures are on my MOC pages.

Nice job. I agree with you, that the B-Wing didn't get as much as attention that it should have. The part I like most from your version is the smoothening out of the exterior. In my opinion, for SW ships/starfighters, the outside has to be sleek and the look can't really be achieved with exposed studs. 

 

I can't really tell from the pictures, but did you do any modifications to the cockpit? I also noticed that you made some additions to the stand. Care to explain?

 

With the additions that I made to the model, it added approximately 420 grams.  Therefore, I needed to strengthen the stand to make it hold the model securely.
