This is quite simply absolutely gorgeous. Who knew that a Lego set could ever be more detailed than a professional grade model kit? Oh, here is the box with some promo videos. via The Brick Fan

Better get the spray paint ready ...

If I do, it'll be spice orange!

I may seriously try to do an alternate color and see if I can make it more like the remake in the process. After building the proper set of course. :)

That why I wondered earlier whether it had any unique parts, if not, then you should be able to build it in any colour. :)

Looks like the exterior wheel humps (Windscreen 3 x 6 x 1 Curved) are unique. They are usually used as windshields (e.g. the 8092 Landspeeder). Only available in 3 solid colors including the green (black and white)

On a side note... I wonder how many MOC we will see that resemble the Austin Power's 2001 version but with the Lego model year (1996-2000). :)

The British / GP flag on the roof would be AWESOME.

Unfortunately, that's on the BMW version (not a proper British Mini) which I hate with a passion,  nothing like the original classic.  I like the number plate in the picture above though! ;-)

Dark green, oh how I love thee. I wish a few more things used that delightful shade of the forest.

Oh wow, it comes with the picnic linen. Sticker or actual linen?...

Actual linen.

Any of the forest-y hobbit sets have lots of dark green :)

Apparently no unique parts, but some like the wheel wells (which are windscreens) haven't been produced in very many colors. In fact only trans colors and white. The rare parts are all body pieces and don't come in same or complementing shades. Booooo.

So we can make it white, witha black roof, or black with a white roof.

You don't need one in spice orange, you already have one! :P

  • 4 weeks later...

I figured this topic is in need of a good bumping so here is a Eurobricks topic where member Dirk1313 has somehow already acquired the set and modified it into a convertible! This certainly is one sweet ride. It seems scaled well with action figures or Lego's Scala dolls from back in the day.

I think the size is right. It's in proportion to the T1 from looking at the pictures above. You can't expect it to be as big as the T1. It is a MINI Cooper after all.

Dumb

Such insight and I don't even know what you are referring to.

The first part of the set review posted or the set itself? :scratchhead:

God they are going to sell so many of these. Mini Cooper fans/owners are rabid. Even better, they'll be selling a ton of bricks in different colors for people to customize. :-)

My only complaint with the model is the rear windshield, it's too vertical and doesn't flow smoothly down into the trunk like the real thing does. This gives it too boxy of a look. But otherwise I love it and definitely plan to pick one up to build.

No nevermind its ok

That side profile above is a superb shot and I take back what I said before about the arse end looking odd.  I've already reserved one at my local John Lewis branch to pick up the day it's out (and maybe clear the shelves!).

It's supposed to be released on August 1st.

And it will be the VIP early access set for July, so only about two weeks to go!

You predicting a shortage?

First one on Ebay UK

is that confirmed?

With 34 watchers (one of them is me) and counting on the eBay listing that CNH1974 sent, this will be in very high demand.  Americans much prefer Mini's to VW Campers and this will be a hot item and I have a feeling Lego may not produce enough.  After fees and if it's a fussy buyer,
