And not just shot - shot by the freaking Bow Caster.  We saw what sort of damage it did a few other times.

Ren isn't a "fully formed" villain, from the perspective that he isn't a full-fledged villain yet.  When we see Darth Vader in ANH, he's had 15 years to become who he is.  Ren is still learning.  Even Snoke says that Ren still has training to complete.

My point is that Ren isn't going to be a bad ass Jedi every single time we see him.  He's going to be fallible.  By that point in the movie, he's got quite a lot of things going on.

No but that's my suspicion. Rey is kylo's sister, not brother. I think they hinted at that from he flashbacks and also Ren's first exchange with Rey when she was captive. Han's or Luke's kid, but I'm leaning towards Han.

There are a lot of issues this film has that the critics and fans are glossing over.  JJ Abrams is good with keeping the movie entertaining but telling a coherent story he's not.  What purpose would an AT-AT serve on a desert planet?  Was Han the one capturing the Falcon or was it the Space Pirates?  Why was there a giant squid aboard the Falcon?  Why was that Castle with all of the flags also a cantina?  Why was Luke's lightsaber conveniently found in the basement of the cantina?  Why was there a CGI Yoda stand-in needed?  Or a CGI emperor stand-in named "Smoke"?  Why did the Star Killer base have such a sucky defense system?  I could go on...  Again the movie was entertaining but also pretty light weight.

An AT-AT would serve just as much purpose on a desert as it would on snow.  What purpose would it serve on Endor?  Anyone could easily counterpoint your other observations, but se la vie.

How much traction would an AT-AT have on a sand dune?  It was a superficial nod to fans just like 75% of the rest of the movie.

 

As much as I marked out to be in at the movies watching a Star Wars film after so many years.

I was kinda left with a slighty underwhelming feeling, upon leaving the cinema.

Stars Wars a new hope version 2.0 was not what I wanted, there's a fine line between a paying homage to the Orignal Triliogy at the risk of becoming a self parody.

The Falcon, crash taking off, and numerous crash landing seemed bit hokey to me.

This movie was plagued by over acting by our new cast members, I just didn't think Kylo Ren, aka "Hippster Vader" was evil enough, just full of teen angst.

Han & Chewie moments, were gold, and I thought Harrison Ford's performance saved this movie for me.

Supreme Leader Snoke, just looked ridiculous, and Captain Phasma had no presence.

You would of though the remnants of the Empire now First Order, would of had a conversation regarding the failing's of the two Death Star's vs the Star Killer Base.

Keep in mind they have had 30 years to think of some thing new.

I still think that Finn is will turn out to be Lando's son.

 

Watch it again, and I can pretty much guarantee you that you'll like it a lot more the second time.  It's a lot to take in/evaluate on the first viewing.  Yeah, I'd rather it not have rehashed so many of  A New Hope's plot points, but that doesn't take away from it being a really, really good self-contained film.  I absolutely loved all the new actors, especially Daisy Ridley who played Rey.  I think she's an absolute star. 

Im the same. I had all the same issues but after a second viewing i knew plot wise what i was in for and i loved it. Yes it follows a very similar plot to ep 4. But there is also so much more it eludes and lots more and different stuff to come. The perfect reboot in my eyes. Some of the visual work with the dogfights was amazing. Loved the camera view we get on the side of the x wings as the swoop about firing lasers just felt like those ships were real.

Han had the big scavenger ship, those squid things were in it, he captured the falcon then the pirate crews boarded his ship. The at at was just scrap leftover from the space battle, may have just fell out of a crashing SD.

That's a good point. Of course the AT-AT always seemed to me to be a really cool but improbable vehicle.

Who f****** cares?  It's a new Star Wars movie.  I am always baffled by people who let stupid little plot contrivances like some of those above get in the way of their enjoying a movie like TFA. 

BTW...an AT-AT would serve the same purpose on a desert planet that it would serve on any other planet...to blow s*** up.  They don't call it an "ALL TERRAIN armored transport" for nothing.

Han captured the Falcon...that was pretty clear from the movie. 

There wasn't a giant squid aboard the Falcon, the rathtars (sp?) were aboard the freighter that captured the Falcon.

The castle was also a cantina because Maz has run that watering hole for hundreds of years.

Luke's lightsaber was in the basement of the cantina because Maz has come into its possession some time before then.

etc. etc.

But, at the end of the day, who f****** cares?  It's a new Star Wars movie.  If those sorts of things prevented you from enjoying the movie, I feel very sorry for you.
