I took my 8 year old and 5 year old. The 8 year old had a harder time with some parts than the 5 year old - probably because he doesn't really get a lot of what happened (well, that and we went to watch it in french since I'm in France at the moment :)).

December 18, 20159 yr Just got out of the film about an hour ago. I would rate it a very good action blockbuster, not a classic film by any stretch of the imagination. It would fall in 3rd place behind Empire and New Hope for me. Loved JJs characterisation and the new actors. Surprisingly I wanted more of them and less of Han, Leia and Luke. In the first 15 mins there was more interest and intrigue than the entire 3 prequels. I did not like the constant nods to the OT - by the end of the film it was too much and hokey. One character channeled Hayden Christensen's whininess big time and going forward it will be a cringefest every scene he is in. Hoping JJ is done playing it safe and appeasing OT fans. So much potential I cannot wait for the second installment. I feel Rogue One will actually be the better film, but then again I am a huge Ben Mendelsohn fan and I feel he has more talent in his left pinky than most of the cast of TFA
December 18, 20159 yr Loved the movie. It fits in perfectly with the OT. The new characters are great well rounded characters. The acting is very good. Sure there are things to nitpick but we just got a very good new SW film and we should be grateful.

Your comments rings no bell; a character channeled hayden? Huh?
December 18, 20159 yr Jumping on the SW love bandwagon after seeing it this afternoon. I am huge OT fan and saw the original film in 1977 when i was 8. TFA is fantastic. A great story told with precisely the right amount of detail and not a drop more. Perfectly edited. I did not expect the emotional response at seeing those yellow letters scrolling up the screen like my life going by but it was so justified. One of the most satisfying motion picture experiences of my life. I was one of those weirdo's giving it a standing ovation at the end. Going to see it again in 2 days.

I prefer a good force choking rather than tantrums from grown men with daddy issues. The scene where he is throwing his second tantrum and the two stormies hurriedly turn away is hilarious. I can imagine them rolling their eyes in their helmets and thinking "this was not in the brochure".

Poor acting on top of horrible lines. Throwing tantrum is kids throwing toys around when things don't go their way.

Come on living off blue bread on a desert planet is totally different than blue milk on a desert planet lol. All joking aside it was a good and fun film IMO. Disney and JJ have the fans safely in the bank now and can push the envelope a bit for the next one..Clearly Disney had JJ leave alot on the cutting room floor from the second half so hopefully we get a directors cut down the line that will fill some holes.
December 18, 20159 yr The more I see it, the less I like it. Ep IV rehash. So why do you keep going back to see it?
December 19, 20159 yr Second viewing and I'm still in love with it. Great film. One of the best for me, and I was there in 1977. Need to plan viewing number 3 sometime next week.

Give Kylo a chance to mature and become a more efficient killing machine.
December 19, 20159 yr I saw it today with alpine and I loved it! I won't get into details since there are other members who haven't seen it so I'll leave it at that

It almost seems like Episode IV reimagined. I saw Episode IV 10 times in the theater in 1977-78, and countless times on VHS/DVD/Bluray since, so that could be why this does not feel new. If I had never seen the previous films, I would say this was a good film, but I just can't get past the zillion similarities to a movie I saw almost 40 years ago. It's as if Disney went back to square one on this one, and used Ep IV as the formula. I wonder how bad the original plot they rejected was (if they did).

Everyone will relate and dissect this in their own way and that is cool. I think there were great nods to the original but it is far from a copy or rehash.

I've never seen a movie where a droid escapes with valuable information on a desert planet, only to be found by accident by a person that has fantastic powers but doesn't know it, and is chased by an army of white armored soldiers lead by a black suited leader, stopping off at a cantina of weird aliens, then onto a weapon capable of destroying a planet by using a giant beam, where a rescue is performed, a mentor is killed during the rescue, and it turns out the weapon has one weakness that can be exploited by flying down a trench. Sounds all new to me! Edited December 19, 20159 yr by JimboJet added mention of cantina
