STAR WARS VII - "The Force Awakens" - Movie Discussion

Featured Replies

Agree with Trek about Jake Lloyd.  Poor kid took a lot of flack for Lucas's ham-fisted dialog.  I think he pulled off the role exactly like any other eight year old would have.  I mean was Ewan McGregor any better in that film?  Aside from the light saber battle he basically stands around gawking at Jar-Jar for the whole film.

I got ours for Christmas eve.  I might have to catch it in IMAX 3d as well given we have the worlds largest IMAX screen at 65 feet.

as I remember Jumper was not enjoyable

I am not against the guy

I remember the story of someone telling George Lucas you try and read this script so your point is well taken

I just think jake was a little kid with a lot of pressure piled on him and I enjoyed him playing the role

I love all Star Wars even Jar Jar and Hayden

I agree I really do feel bad for jake I remember reading an article after he was arrested recently and he said things were horrible for him afterwards

your spot on about Jake

I do not know what real truth is on any of it

But I have read about his story his life that he was apparently shut out or something at conventions and George Lucas did not take him under his wing or something went on there

that he ended up burning all of his star wars stuff literally

that is one side of the story and I am sure there is another

in any case I felt really sad for what it did to the guys life

To be fair, Hayden's portrayal as Anakin does come off as dark, strange, unhinged... kinda creepo that would unravel and well, become Vader.

I challenge you slog through the entire Clone Wars series while you're at it.  A real fan could do it.

there is one spot in episode II he nailed it

right when his mother died he looked up with his eyes and was ticked

right then I thought he did an awesome job with his look if eyes could kill and he then did

the rest seemed not that great.  no idea the actor the script or what

I have nothing against him and wish him the best

did you read that they may be having him in training currently for episode viii ? seriously  apparently there may be some flashback scenes of live action like from his clone wars days where he is kicking butt and he is undergoing intense martial arts training to support it if true it could be very good but would rather they just move on

the mind is willing but the body is weak

the nice thing about the clone wars is that it gets better and better, my favorite story arc is umbara from season 4

Finally got my tickets. Fandango only had one theater that was like 30 miles away available. Tried Movietickets.com a little bit ago and they had the theater i always use so i got 8:25 opening night (18th). And the site wasn't crashing. It went through pretty quickly. So if you don't see your theater on Fandango, try Movietickets.com.

You need to change your name to StarGate. Oh wait, that's a whole other thing.

How many of us saw Star Wars in the theater in 1977?  I did.  (I was just shy of being 5 years old).

I feel like a little kid all over again.  Too much to process.  :)

First time at the movies with my Mother aged 8

I've got 20 tickets already! Massive group going to watch the cinema! I've changed 687 pairs of pants already since this morning...

You QFLL!

Looks like fandango is fixed. Was able to get 7pm IMAX now.

I was able to get a local theater for Friday at 12:30.

10+ years ago, never thought I would be saying this but "I'm taking my son to a new Star Wars film in a theater".  Pretty cool as 32 years ago, my grandmother took me to watch ROTJ in Deptford

Next time you force yourself to sit through those movies, think of the stiff dialogue as the awkward personality of a lunatic instead. (The things a Star Wars fan will do to try to make the PT suffer-able lol)

I heard about him possibly coming back but that'd be a disappointing reason. I went spoiler heavy for VII but stopped going to the Jedi Council Forums after reading what you posted earlier lol and am going to avoid them for the next two. That said, my uneducated speculation is that he would be involved in some kind of battle on the spirit plane. Lucas had plans for something like that in the third trilogy way back and had said publicly back around the time of the OT, in general terms, it would be more "ethereal". It would be weird as heck but I would be all for a battle between Force Ghosts. Better than an unjustified flashback...
