  1. Honestly, I think they're kind of running out of ideas for true UCS ships. I mean, they've already REDONE several popular ships. What else is there? They've done all the main ships from the movies that anyone cares about. I guess they never did the A-wing, but that ship has been done to death in minifig scale.
  2. I liked the Vader bust alright, just because it was the first and limited, but this helmet series is a definite pass for me. If they had made them life sized, maybe.... the detailing would be nice enough for me to get a little interested, but no, these are lame...
  3. The Republic Gunships, in all their releases, have had a great track record for holding value. I think because each one has been different enough to not hurt the value of the others. I think the idea of a UCS gunship doesn't really make sense, because a ship much larger, would not be that much bigger to be true to scale. So I would not be looking forward to a UCS gunship.
  4. I sold one of the OLD Mando battle packs I had for around $75, so I'm thinking this new version may be a good one to buy and hold...
  5. I hardly ever buy pre-orders, just because Amazon is so good at reducing the price on most sets I buy, so I just wait for the inevitable 20 - 30% discounts once a set is out for a month or so...
  6. I watched it once in the theater, with low expectations, just to see how they justified Palpatine coming back..... aaaaaand it was a mess. Now I know why Lego Star Wars ep8 and 9 toys have been selling so horribly...
  7. I think these are cool too, but not sure when the Slave 1 and Sith Infiltrator would be released as micros, when they've already been released as exclusives. That wouldn't make their owners too happy...
  8. So a visual dictionary is coming out that features a set that has not even been leaked yet. That's never happened before that I recall...
  9. Looks great. The latest TIE set is the template for all future TIEs so you are on the right track with those wings...
  10. Looks cool but way too big for the Micro line. Seems like they are sticking with a 100-125 piece count, but I would not be surprised to see an AT-AT in the next wave!
  11. It's really hard to judge from the photo angle, but to me, the main problem with the original sandcrawler was it was way too wide and not tall enough. It was more of a box than a wedge, so if they can fix the overall shape in a new version I would applaud their efforts. Still not sure that this pic represents an actual Lego set though, there's a lot of good customs out there...
  12. I'm pretty excited about Benny's LL929 coming out, but not sure that it will help bring back Classic Space. Not saying it wouldn't be nice, but it seems like Lego is sticking with the Galaxy Squad and other themes to satisfy out space set hunger. I suppose with any Lego Movie sequel there will be the possibility of another Benny creation, so that is cool.
  13. I picked up a few of each of this line when I found some nice clearances. Just don't see them as a huge payoff outside of the few we all know about already.
  14. -------Sorry, for some reason I can't get the multiquote to work, but reply is to the post above about the Disney anti-villain stance...-------- That is interesting but totally makes sense, in that these are marketed to a pretty young female demographic. Disney doesn't want evil creeping into their Princess line...
  15. I am just wondering if the friend originally bought these at full price. They have been on discount a few times since release. That being said, I would still not be interested in Fire Brigades. I think the Emporium is a better set so I might buy those if I were wanting to help a friend. Better than nothing.
  16. Ha! I didn't notice this was an old thread. For $400 I was going to say get the AT-OT, but I doubt they are still selling for that amount now, since they were like $250 new, right? Ah well...
  17. I'm mostly interested in Star Wars sets so really, there haven't been many polybags I've cared about. I usually only get the ones that Lego gives away with a purchase, like the ARF trooper, while Boba, etc... Actually I wish they would do more small set SW polybags that are not minis, like that one Stormtrooper mini speeder thing.
  18. Interesting topic, and I pretty much agree when people say that a lot of new investors will soon be dropping out due to time, space, etc. I will keep selling (partly because I have to support my Lego habit), but I have modified my buying habits also. I read all the posts but did not see anyone mention what I think is key, and that is, the so-called Great Recession, and how it has lingered far longer than most of us would have imagined. I have noticed the past couple of years that most of my shipments are going to, let's just say, upper class areas of the country. I think a lot of middle America just doesn't have the disposable income to purchase retired Lego sets. Perhaps it's just an anomoly, as I've never seen anyone mention a demographic shift in their customers. If the economy came roaring back next year, I think it could possibly support all the new investors jumping in, but as it stands I see a lot of new people dropping out when they realize Lego investing is not as easy as it seems.
  19. Actually I wouldn't mind if they rereleased the 10179, if this time they included a full interior. That was the one thing that bugged me about the original. If they had to price it at $799 so be it. You know they would still sell out of them, and it would be different enough to not make the 10179 owners/sellers too upset.
  20. It's a nice looking build, but I thought the whole point of CUUSOO was, design something that Lego would otherwise not produce themselves. Minas Tirith will ABSOLUTELY be made at some point, regardless of people voting for this or not. There's probably already a team working on it.
  21. What a dee-lightful surprise -- and I was beginning to think I had missed out...
  22. I think the problem with the Hobbit movie and consequently, the Lego sets, is that it is being spread much too thin. Jackson and co. have had to create a lot more non-book characters, conflicts, etc, to stretch the book into three movies -- whereas in LOTR the opposite was true, and they had to cut a lot out to make the film. To me that translates into less interest in the Hobbit trilogy and less interest in Lego Hobbit sets. I could be proven wrong, but I just don't see real enthusiasm for the Hobbit movies like I did for the LOTR movies.
  23. Well lookie there! Okay, so what's the smallest set I can get to pass the $50 threshold...
  24. I look forward to any new ships in the Rebels series, because familiar ships like Tie fighters and so on are not going to look different "McQuarrie-ized" and thus will not warrant a Lego rehash, or at least I hope not. It will be interesting to see if fans accept the "Ghost" though. They tried giving Anakin his own "Falcon" early on in the Clone Wars series and that sort of fizzled out after the first season, even though it was clearly based on the B-Wing.
  25. "nothing special"? Wow. I think it is an amazing build and just an all around cool looking ship. I love Sith and/or Tie based ships. Everyone in entitled to their opinion, but man, I guess I'm just curious what ship you think IS "special"?
