I'm having trouble dealing with PayPal right now and any input is much appreciated. Last August I placed an order with a local toy retailer and my PayPal balance was instantly credited for the total amount. This particular order was eventually cancelled but the payment authorization was not, which lead to a month of going back and forth with customer service and PayPal, but it finally got cancelled. The problem is that a week has gone buy and my balance is still missing those ~250

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think this happened with the previous winter village sets, so I tend to agree with Huskers.

Dropped by one of the local TRU and there they were, high and proud, seal codes 31S4! Was not expecting that.

Ha, had I known that and I wouldn't have asked a friend to go through the trouble of bringing me one from the US. With the USD appreciation and sales tax, it ended costing me a little over retail. Not only that but I'm pretty sure the other residents of my winter village don't speak English...

I tend to read a few reviews and understand why people are disappointed by a particular set, whether it be for building or investment purposes. I think that, in this case, the sample is just too small to draw any conclusions. Also, that 2.7 rating was obtained during VIP early-access, so there's a chance the people posting the reviews are a little more hardcore than the average LEGO fan!

I agree, it looks like it was selling poorly and I believe it was glucapg who stated TLG had a warehouse full of these and it would make a comeback. Maybe it'll keep popping up all over the place, even after retirement, much as the 10216 Winter Village Bakery did.

It's definitively odd but I'm not sure this rationale applies to other lines, only time will tell...

Wow, the LEGO Elves box design is pure eye candy! I'm thinking there might be some cartoons in the works! Also very happy with the overall Friends line, hoping 41085 is the Vet Clinic so I can keep most of my 3188 Heartlake Vet for a little longer. Confirmation of a second house, to go along with Olivia's, is also pretty sweet!

I think, for the long haul, I'd pick the SSD but I'm very confident series 1 will do extremely well. If they go for $150 this Christmas, it'll be a 200%+ ROI and I don't even think that price target is a stretch:

One of the problems with the Sopwith is that the box doesn't do it justice, I find it totally unappealing, whereas the set itself is pure awesomeness!
