Damn. Sales normally start Thursday, right? The day I will be leaving home early to take my daughter to a friends' farm. Wonder which shopping centres we'll pass on the way...?
-
Would love to be going. Just wondering (and hoping) if the Discovery Centre down here in Melb will have something when it opens. Rumours I've heard about Dreamworld will be the Lego store set free for purchases of $199. That's a set I want to try and get.

Customer Service have confirmed there is an issue work my account. So currently earning points but unable to spend them. We'll see how I go with that getting sorted out.

I'm having the exact same problem with point redemption. Several back and forth queries with customer service has resulted in the latest response that there is a fault in the new store and it is being rectified. The only option for now if you want to redeem is to place a phone order. Assuming you are having the same problem as me.

Thanks for the comments about VIP points. Looks like it is to Customer Service I go. Am logged in OK; have tried different browsers; have cleared caches; have used different computers; have tried the phone. Always the same issue. Mind you, I could see points balance on previous site, but could never see my VIP transactions. I suspect there is something screwy with my account that doesn't sit well with the new store. On a different topic, I saw General Grievous 75112 on clearance at my local Target for $30. Should anyone be interested.

I know now is not the time to use them, but has anyone here cashed in VIP points on the Aus LEGO Shop at Home since the site was re done? Not only am I not able to see my point balance through my account/profile, in all of the orders placed recently I have never seen an option to use my points. Curious if others are able to and if so, when (and where) the ability to use VIP points is showing up through the checkout process.

<snip> I was too slow and out replied with better information

That's the hard part, right? To buy now, or see what happens with the larger retailers where you can get a steeper discount. That at least applies to me for personal buying. I've held off on Big Ben and VW Beetle as I'm sure someone will stock 'em down here and will be able to get a better deal. Disney Castle may be a similar issue. My approach: am I likely to build it straight away? If no, I'll hold off buying.

Bucket Wheel Excavator is showing as available to buy now from LEGO Shop at Home (Australian store) for those that were speculating about when it would come up. http://shop.lego.com/en-AU/Bucket-Wheel-Excavator-42055?fromListing=listing

I was in HK several times last year, though never had much time for looking (there for work). From the places I did see Lego, there was never any really compelling stuff that I could see, though I don't recall seeing any stand out places on Nathan Road. A lot of Lego knock-offs, though. Lego is pretty big there, though. As seen at this exhibit that was on HK Island (at a shopping centre just south of Causeway Bay train station)...

Is that where it's from? I bought the shirt (from TeeFury) with that cos I loved it, but had no idea where it was from. Mine is a tattoo I have...my homage to The Simpsons and The Shining.

I'm a buyer for me (I once dabbled in extra sets here and there for sale, of which I still have too many to sell), so generally don't feel I can contribute to the investment side. I found the buying the good bit, but hate going through the selling, so will end up (maybe) MOC'ing a lot when I create my Legotropolis in the new house. Should have room for a 3m x 1.5m to build on.

One been, and another going. I have the wife agreeing that, in a few years, we try to secure tickets on the Inside Tour. Probably not going to happen simply due to popularity of it, but agreement is step number 1 Enjoy your trip there, gazza.

Thatc was my thought. More about what does Myer have left versus cashflow. I have too many unbuilt sets to buy too much more.
-
Mine finally turned up a couple days ago. Started it last night but opted to bricklink some parts to make some recommend changes to the gearbox. Not sure why though. Heh. I wouldn't be surprised to see it shipping after August 2 as it has been stating that for a while and been in the top seller list. But November seems too far out.
-
For me, it was all about the personal build (few purchases are for anything other than that). Had gift cards bought at 8% off, so ends up at about 12% discount. Just not sure when I'll get to build it...

There were a couple of runners and some fast walking once everyone heard the lady say the big sets were at laybuy I was just happy to get one for the collection.
-
I was at my BigW at opening, and was fifth in line to get a GB HQ. Store ended up having a total of 8 available, and 6 of those were gone within 10 minutes. If the West coast stores are anything like over here, head straight to the laybuy counter.
-
Are you referring to the actual building, or just the Lego version?
-
I was going to grab one from online for my own collection, but that DJ site keeps failing when it does an inventory check. Had the same issue when I tried for the Mixer, hence time to hit the local to see if they have it. Maybe if SOH is there I'll consider one...does look pretty impressive.
-
I'm going to hit the local DJ tomorrow to see if they have any mixers. The only item I'm interested in right now. Just ordered the Ferris Wheel from LEGO Shop at Home, so need to mixer to go with it. After missing out at Myer, I ordered a couple Detective Office from LEGO Shop at Home a while back, and almost finished the mega-DO with both of them used for the building. I have a second Pet Shop which I will likely use to rebuild that into a double set, too.
-
Tried three Myers, but all had sold out of anything they had. All I ended up walking away with was 4 packs of road plates. Still hunting out a DO so I can add to the streetscape.
-
Very true. Have to balance keeping the boss happy and sneak some calls in Shopeforme right now has the Star Destroyer (not SSD) showing as Add to Cart at 25% off. I notice the mini reduced from being able to buy 2 now to just 1.
-
Obviously knowing that you'd need to be there is somewhat critical. Times like this I regret working in the suburbs and not in the city. As Ted said, live and learn for those that missed out, and celebrate those that scored.

I've checked Myer over hour or so over the last two days and did not ever see modulars come up! Son of a gun...sounds like I can stop haunting the Myer web site.
