  1. These crappy GWPs and the price thresholds have me sitting this one out.

  2. Hot take: Consumerism is still thriving. People are just not buying any random overpriced junk they can their hands on. Black panther bust (stupid), $500 "Exclusive hogwarts train" (stupid). These are super niche sets targeting a small demographic of people at absurdly high prices. Same goes for all the soccer stadiums (especially in the U.S.).

  3. I can confirm. No waiting in line at the store, but me. It’s embarrassing what I’m willing to do for points, but it is a dragon and she does have a knight’s shield.

  4. Agreed, I was considering getting the castle and/or lighthouse. Was up last night looking to buy one and just couldn't pull the trigger. For me it is a cumulation of the GWP's are average at best, and then I either already have the sets or they are significantly overpriced. I just don't feel like enabling Lego with the increases, so I will end up waiting for a better deal.

  5. 1 of each of the 40% off sales (queeer eye + camp nou) gets you to the threshold for both GWP but not sure about resale potential of these. still part out value to discounted buyin price is strong. high partout value can provide base level of price support post EOL. along with 2x vip and gwp seems like a decent deal but kind of not feeling like taking risks this year on plastic brick money and just stick with what works and/or what i'd like to build.

  10. I honestly would have been happier with more of the Forestmen set. I previously loaded up on enough to get to 7, but now looking back would have done a few more.

  11. Just my opinion, but I think that the reason we aren't seeing these larger sets sell out this year like previous years is because there are more options now. I haven't actually counted, but it feels like there are 2x maybe 3x the number of large sets as in the past, buyers are spreading around their money more. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk

  12. You and me both. I redeemed a dragon ride and that is it. Not a single purchase and I'm not biting on any other discount or gwp.

  13. I had 10% last night when the LEGO VIP event started, same thing happened last year so I knew to look for it.

  14. It’s the economy they have lots of stock because people aren’t buying plain and simple the price increases was the wrong thing to do the way they did it but if things were better they would sell out of all the cheaper older sets and they arent inflation gas food autos etc I think it’s a good deal for 5x points to get all the vip points for redemptions that may come up if they have the other bricktober sets over the next few months plus two gwp’s that I like you do you and be happy with what you decide : )

  15. The good old days when I thought *that* was a really expensive retail purchase.

  16. I don't think that they actually had any of the Green Grocers available for $75 when they cut the price down that year, but that was an epic sale. 2-3 days before Christmas, LEGO Shop at Home put all of the retiring sets on 50% clearance online and in stores. Back in those days, the purchase limits were 99 and they had tons of stock. I remember stocking up on the $75 venators, $5 battlepacks, and $20 midi-scale ISDs or MFs. Good times.

  19. It was only available for a little bit last night from what i understand....I logged in at Legoshop at 10:30 CST last night and had the offer Between the Rakuten 10 percent, 2x Vip Points, 2 GWP's, Dragon VIP Redemption, and Cash Back on my CC it turned out ok

  20. I was on the fence as well but the Rakuten 10% helped seal the deal.....Crazy thing is after placing my order and going to bed i get a notification saying my order has already been processed and shipped I've never had a lego order ship this quick.....Plus i just scrolled through the higher end sets for fun and not 1 that i can see is on backorder.....Speaks volumes about how they've upset people with the price increases not to mention the looming recession and other things going on The higher ups at lego might wanna have a roundtable discussion soon to figure out to straighten this mess out or 2023 isn't gonna be pretty!

  21. I was thinking of it the same way. AND I didn’t have to drive two hours to a Lego store 😂 I figure a net $140 off (28%), two substantial gwp’s, and the credit card points I’ll get for the transaction make a pretty solid deal.

  28. I feel for you. I had a similar situation and I feared they might try to fine me so I took steps to prevent that. My situation was me was driving into an intersection with a two-way stop. I was going the direction that had the right-of-way. Literally, as I was driving through the intersection to turn left, a school bus had just pulled up to the stop sign to my left. I did not see any flashing lights, nor could I see the stop-sign on the bus. The driver deployed the stop sign, honked and yelled at me that I should have stopped as I was next to the bus driver. *facepalm* I have no idea where he thinks I should have stopped considering he did not begin to deploy the stop sign and flashers until I was right next to him. He was at a stop sign; how could I have know he was going to let kids out AT the stop sign? When I got home I looked up the school district bus company phone number and left a complaint about the bus driver creating an un-safe situation by letting children out at a two-way-stop intersection. I gave the intersecting street names and time so there would be no mistake who the driver was. I never got a bill or complaint.

  29. Well, the 10229 Winter Village Cottage that I ordered last week when it randomly popped up in the daily deals thread for RRP arrived last night. I expected it was going to be a mislabeled Santas Visit, but to my great surprise it was indeed a sealed 10229! Sold and shipped by Amazon. Box is a bit dinged up and it has a price tag from another retailer on it, so I'm very curious of the story behind it.

  33. It would definitely be more enticing if they had their 20% - 30% discounts on a select retiring sets. Nameplates for those little piles of bricks isn't worth dropping $250 for me.

  34. Are you sure about the immediate points? Could you test it out in the reward center please. I’m in a broke point position and have to go to the store to get immediate points to redeem the Bricktober Dragon before it disappears. I’d prefer to skip the mall..
