  4. Lets take the confirmed cases in the USA (30,900,000) divided by deaths (560,000). We arrive at a 1.81% Fatal rate for Covid 19 in the United States However, this leaves out a major detail. This basic calculation ignores true number of infected. A lot of good science believes 50-60% of the USA population has contracted Covid 19 over the past year and never tested positive. If we add an additional 100 Million infected who've not been counted we are looking at a 99.9% survival rate. Yes, what I wrote above is just a meme...I'm just a lunatic conspiracy theorist, so please ignore everything I've written. My fudged calculations are intended to deceive everyone. With that said. Brickvoyeur's charts are accurate. However, If we add in those who've been infected and not counted this number reaches the 99.0-99.9% survival rate. Please understand I'm not trying to brush Covid 19 aside. I'm very sad for all those who've family have been changed. My grandfather passed away from it. I just want to point out a alternate view as the phycological effects of this virus may be more dangerous than the virus itself.

  6. It's as likely as local, state, and federal levels adjusting the numbers downward, or upward, in order to spread their specific agenda. I think if every country had the mass testing, and healthcare capabilities, as the USA... that you'd find that there have been both many more cases and many more deaths. The 2% overall death rate seems reasonable. But I believe the exact numbers about as much as I believe that China, the epicenter, has only their reported 90,341 total cases and 4,636 total deaths. All we can go by is the collected data, and the "excess deaths" total for the pandemic was wildly over the upper limit:

  12. Not to derail the chip conversation with more COVID ramblings, but just wanted to give a quick update on the J&J single shot I got yesterday. Walgreens had their act together, and I was in and out in under 30 min. Felt fine all day yesterday, but had a pretty rough night…chills, headache, and some very weird dreams. I feel a combination of jet lag and a hangover this morning. Still better than my COVID experience a few months ago…that was kinda scary. And I completely agree with keymomachine…we don't have any idea what the long term effects of COVID are (and by the way, I still have zero sense of taste or smell). I'm grateful we have a vaccine this quickly, and would encourage everyone to get it when available, even if it seems like a leap of faith to you. Humanity doesn't have the luxury of a "wait and see" approach with this virus. Let's get it under control, minimize potential variants, and get on with life.

  18. Everything's become political; impartiality has been pushed to the margins in academia, journalism (Slanted by Sharyl Attkisson), and, yes, even science. Bias is not only accepted in these areas, but becoming increasingly encouraged. Arguments like the one below can be made and, in a vacuum, are reasonable: But it's not simply that people don't trust the vaccine; they don't trust the literature and, especially, the intermediaries. I mean, Fauci instructing the public not to wear masks without the truthful why (effectiveness vs. supply for health care workers) was an error on the sheer grounds that it shows scientists are capable issue misleading people on the basis of the ends justifying the means. Further, There has been pushback. I had a difficult time finding it, too, despite using very specific criteria to search for a video that I watched a couple of weeks ago. I nearly assumed it'd been removed, but I found it when I circumvented the search and went directly to the channel. Search results are being manipulated. For the record, the hosts of that video agreed with the underlying sentiment that the long-term effects of new technology carries risk (is the sky blue?) - while also expressing flaws in the suppositions. (When legitimate questions like this one are shouted down or censored [e.g. search algorithm manipulation], that has the effect of making people more likely to believe the jank Facebook conspiracies.) Even if somebody has the desire and the aptitude to perform their own research, they simply don't have the time when everything has to be questioned and investigated: the news sources, the scientists, their motivations, the search results, the data & methodology, etcetera. Broad "but science" claims have been deluded to the point where the "Listen to doctors, get the &*/$&# shot." isn't seen as an appeal to credibility or logic - it's received as bullying. More than ever, we have to treat each other like individuals, listen to concerns, address them as best we can, and give people the space and respect to change their own minds. Thanks Ed for allowing Brickpicker to be a place where that kind of discussion is allowed & encouraged. Oh and, on topic, today I spent too much time writing this.

  20. You need to contact the post office personally to see what that means -- although I wouldn't put any more effort into this if I was you. It is theft if you keep a package that was addressed to someone else and refuse to give it up if asked. In which case, the buyer can file a police report. But that message is extremely vague, and I think if I contacted the postmaster at my PO and they told me "our attempt to recover your package was unsuccessful", I'd like some more details -- I don't think the buyer is putting much effort into this, and probably for a reason. Ironically, I have an open case on ebay right now where USPS shows delivered and the buyer claims he never got it and is expecting me to refund him. I told him to submit a case to ebay, but his chances of getting his money back was dependent on the generosity of ebay to take it out of their pocket since the tracking clearly showed it as delivered -- and since he sent me a message claiming he never got it, it'll be difficult for him to try a SNAD attempt later. I also told him to contact his USPS but he claimed he worked during USPS hours and that wasn't an option... Right... Well he filed a not received case with ebay, I sent the tracking info to ebay, and then I sent a request to USPS and got a message on their website that the package was part of an ongoing investigation. I followed up with the buyer that I contacted USPS and said either ebay automatically filed a case to track down the package or he was able to contact the post office -- what changed? Crickets since then. In any event, you owe the buyer nothing financially. It was delivered. Your obligations are done. Insurance is to protect you to the point of "delivery". If the buyer felt they needed insurance after delivery to protect them, they could have asked for it, but they didn't. It's the responsibility of the buyer to provide a safe location for the package (if theft is an issue).

At 10 cents a bottle and 10 cents a can, we're pulling in $500 a man. 9998 bottle and cans in the trunk, 9998 bottles and cans. We fill up with gas, we count up our cash!

  22. I think the amazon listings are very misleading tbh for most of us. The majority of people reselling only have access to ebay and other avenues. Ebay prices are hugely different from amazon and the majority of at st sets on Ebay have not performed that well compared to other sets. Great if you have amazon but people need to remember that a lot of just simply can't access it.

  23. i sold through 22x 20th anniversary slave1s last month for $279-285 FBM under the FFP listing which was pricing higher than the standard listing. i did not ship them in a lego box. i shipped them inside a new plain 20x16x4 box wrapped in small bubble wrap with extra cardboard strips along the top and bottom to prevent denting. i sold through all of the "white label" euro imports. grandma doesn't care as long as it arrives in good shape. zero returns on this set which is pretty amazing actually. ymmv since easter shopping is over and only jerky nitpicky collectors are buying now until graduation season. i also sold a megaconstrux uss enterprise for $399 fbm which is also pretty amazing.

  25. The long-term side effects of Covid-19 *infection* are also mostly unknown at this point, but can be severe, and that's if it doesn't kill you, something the FDA-emergency approved vaccines almost certainly will not do - so this is not a good argument for delaying vaccination. You want the economy back? This is how we get the economy back.

  26. LOL...Dr. Ed to you. I am a science guy. Yes, I fear the future side effects of this new technology. One major issue that I read about is cancer and how this vaccine will disrupt the body's immune system fighting it. I'm sure there are other issues as well. With any sort of medication, there is nothing without side effects. Even aspirin gives people ulcers. That being said, what I have witnessed over the past year with regards to people getting sick and the mental stress it is putting people under (including myself and my family), I believe it is worth the risk. Many people and their kids have lost a year of life in many ways. Not seeing friends, family or going to school or work is life changing. We are social animals. This is a wicked disease and the politicians and media outlets that have weaponized it to remain or gain power should go to Hell. Whether the vaccine is safe or not, whether it works or not, time will tell. But to me and my family, it has given us a little more positive outlook and hope that we can all get back to normal. I miss going to swim practice and eating at Red Lobster. Sounds silly, but I am willing to take a leap of faith and give it a shot. I mean how bad can it be? After my first shot, my private parts got bigger and I could read minds. That's pretty cool.

  27. It's not mob mentality to listen to epidemiologists about taking a vaccine. It's not political. It's about drowning out the virus before new variants emerge because people went with their gut, their preference, or their facebook research and we all end up locked down for another year. Listen to doctors, get the &*/$&# shot.

That being said, deGrom most definitely cares about winning. Not only that but he cares about his legacy and the HOF, both of which are in jeopardy simply because he cannot get wins. And that contract? One of a few that a player actually earned. (Also the same contract he can opt out of in a few months. and probably will. he can easily demand more $$$) Fun Fact: deGrom was paid 7mil and 7.4mil respectively for both his (2018/2019) Cy Young seasons. A bargain.

  29. Exactly. It’s psychological warfare on the world. Look at who is benefiting from the covid crisis. There’s a reason Bill Gates grins when discussing covid. There’s a reason the “Great Reset” was rolled out just a few months after covid hit. There’s a reason they are all using the crisis to profit and make humans more like tagged cattle.

  30. As others have mentioned, the long term effects of COVID are unknown. With what I've heard of people who had COVID and recovered and still not having a sense of smell or taste, that alone is awful enough for me. I LOVE to eat! FDA approved vaccine is the way to go for me and my family.

  33. It's never wrong to follow the money. And I have read up about this. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/apr/21/facebook-posts/Fact-check-Hospitals-COVID-19-payments/ I've read several inquiries on this and it comes down to this, most hospitals cannot claim covid unless there is a positive test. But yes some can say, vivid probable. There is zero evidence this is happening, and if it did there would be massive lawsuits. Hospitals get more money depending on how much work they do on you, so yeah if you go on a ventilator Medicare pays them 3x than if you dont. I've talked to to doctor friends about this. Absolutely no one who isn't a psychopath would put a patient on a ventilator if they didn't need to. it's incredibly painful and can have a long term impacts. They are a last line of defense to save lives it's not something they tack on to your bill at the auto dealership. So are hospitals getting paid more to treat covid,,,yes. And that's cause they have to dress up like astronauts to treat you. They have to quarantine and quarter off entire units. But they're not faking covid diagnoses. That would be insane, and it would come out. They would get caught. There would be massive consequences. On the whole every article says were likely under reporting not over reporting. The overall deaths number in the US is waaaaay up. waaaay up. That cannot be faked.

  37. I’ve read that most usps scanners now have gps that attaches coordinates where it is scanned. So, if they deliver to the wrong address, they can check where it was delivered. I experienced this first hand last year when our mailman came to our door and told us he left someone else’s package with our deliveries. I was surprised he remembered and would have known given how many boxes are delivered each day to our house. But knowing this, it totally makes sense. We looked at our stack of packages we hadn’t gotten to and sure enough there was the package he was looking for.

  40. I tried to find an article of a reputable epidemiologist who does not think everyone should take the vaccine and I found one from UNC Chapel Hill the article title says the vaccine is not a silver bullet. The funny thing is when you read the article the reason she thinks it's not a silver bullet in the United States specifically is people don't believe in vaccines. "Vaccinations are not the silver bullet for the United States. They may be for other countries, but not here because a significant portion of our population either don’t believe in vaccines or don’t trust them and want to wait for more evidence that they work and are safe. " So even the most negative article I could find about taking the vaccine says the vaccine isnt a sure thing because people refuse to take them. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/benjaminkomlos/2020/12/14/why-this-epidemiologist-says-the-vaccine-is-not-a-silver-bullet-for-the-us/amp/

  41. Normally if someone disagrees with me I'm happy to let them do so. Especially if it's a matter of opinion. However this is not a matter of opinion. When it comes to public health, and airborne transmitted disease, your hesitancy directly impacts people around you. This isn't a wearing seatbelts thing this is a drunk driving thing. Please read this article . It directly addresses most of the misinformation concerns people repeat.. 1st the RNA cannot impact the nucleus of your DNA and it cannot be passed on to future generations. Also, RNA vaccines are not brand new. they have been in use before COVID. Additionally 0 steps were skipped in the trials for this medicine. they were done quickly but 0 steps were skipped. https://m.ufhealth.org/news/2021/unsure-about-covid-19-vaccine-uf-health-s-chief-epidemiologist-has-answers Epidemiologists OVERWHELMINGLY AGREE everyone who can, should get the shot. They have zero incentive to be wrong about that. There is no conspiracy to get everyone microchipped. We already did that to ourselves with our phones . If you care about people other than you not getting sick, get the shot. If you care about small businesses reopening, get the shot. If you want concerts and ballgames, get the shot. Please people, get the shot. I cant do another year like this.

  43. Just like you don't wear a mask to protect yourself necessarily, you wear a mask to protect others from yourself potentially being infected/asymptomatic - you take the vaccine not necessarily to prevent getting infected, you do it to help create herd immunity which leaves the virus with less targets to jump to, which causes it to die down and hopefully not infect those who are too frail to get the vaccine or at risk for getting severe side-effects from an infection.

  44. For those curious of the reactions; The Pfizer vaccine contains approximately 30 ug (micrograms) of vaccine in each shot. Each Moderna shot contains 100 ug. This is why many more people have expressed more symptoms for the Moderna shot and has reported the most reactions (allergic and fever related) The J&J single shot contains more ug of vaccine of both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, but it does not use MRNA like the other two, rather uses viral vector vaccine technology similar to that of the ebola vaccine. J&J modified the common cold virus to be harmless and also encoded the Covid spike protein to train the Immune system. All quite fascinating to me really.

Some people have been suggesting jumping on list date, riding the pump and then dumping and waiting for a correction (seems like they refer to the activity ROBLOX received upon listing) Either way, I wish I wasn't saving for adoption fees as I'd empty my bank account for Coinbase action when IPO is live.
