At Grand Teton National Park, I hiked 17 miles round trip through Cascade Canyon to Lake Solitude. It's at 9035 feet elevation and the water is melted glaciers. So I jumped in and swam to the island. In the picture, my wet footprints are on the rocks - nobody nearby to take a photo of me.

SO - Day 1 of the garage sale has ended. I sold 92 sets and generated 4663 dollars in revenue and generated 1895.83 in profit. To put this in perspective last year in the may garage sale my three day total was 113 sets sold for 4501 in revenue and 1495.48 in profit I am in utter shock and exhausted. I will now be restocking tonight - good problems to have!!!! (Can I do a $10K weekend????)

Can we have more people comment on here how they are done with reselling LEGO because of this? Lol! Folks, move your crap when it's time and don't sit on 100 sets just for the sake of drooling all over them. Ya'll better dump all of your T1 Campers before the come back before Q4 2021. How long were you going to wait to dump all of your Saturn V's, till they got to $400?

Not the point - The point is running a toy store for a couple of days. Meeting people, talking Lego . Seeing a kid get a new set and smile. having a customer talk to me about Lego and learning what investing is like - I do this for the fun of it and to make a few dollars

I have done this sale for a number of years. Last May (2019) I sold 113 sets for a total of $4100 . This will be the biggest one I ever do according to selection. 400 plus sets (120 different star wars) I have a reputation now as the lego guy but I am also the garage sale coordinator for the neighborhood so the press ads lead with Lego. I carpet bomb the neighborhood entrances with signs and provide ample direction to get to my place. I cover face book market place and Craigslist. The key, I believe is location, selection and pricing - I have the location (Troy, MI - suburb of Detroit well entrenched upper middle class, lots of traffic around the sub.) Selection - give them something so out of the ordinary from a garage sale they are overwhelmed. Once they get here it is no longer a garage sale it is a store and they treat it that way. Plus all the signs that say Lego priced as marked - no negotiation. Pricing, be reasonable - Look at eBay and take off some money for shipping and selling expenses. Don't try to get ebay prices (or Amazon) - Give the discount for buying from thew garage sale I still get idiots like the Craigslist guy who offered me $1200 for the collection I politely told him he was an idiot. But my ad says pricing is reasonable and how I price and put a disclaimer in there that you are not going to get a $100 set for $10 - that is not going to happen. Also, I sell nothing used - Damaged boxes yes but nothing that has been built or put together. Used implies discount. - I give no discount. I don't even open that door.

re-release of ship in a bottle is a game changer (IMO). I think fundamentally...this changes many investor's idea of "going deep" in a set...seems like just too much risk. Also hold times are also looked at more closely and with the recent uptick on scams on $300+ sets...there's is now a "too ripe" in my book.

I've been selling on Amazon FBA for 6 years. I've never had a Lego set returned with missing pieces or any major refund/return issues with Lego sets. On the other hand......man am I getting sick of these thieves that order Marvel Legends figures, steal the build-a-figure piece, then return the item as "Not received by delivery date" or some other free return reason. I'd say i've probably had 30 or 40 returned Marvel Legends figures with no build-a-figure. When I looked up the one I received back today, the buyer has ordered 3 figures from me in the last year and refunded all 3 after removing the piece. I always open cases and report these buyers to seller support, but kinda makes me sad that people do stuff like this.

I usually sell with "no box" and put all the bags in a shipping box. The resulting shipping box is usually much smaller and cheaper to ship than the original so its win-win one damaged box. I could probably pull $260 free ship like this to get rid of it and make $15.

That is awesome. Sucks some people think something cool has to be done by ill gotten methods but that is their their problem. Best moment of the day was when a little boy was so excited he just ran up and gave the Lego guy a hug. His mom promised him a Lego set after his hair cut and he was so beside himself and the smile was huge. One of the reasons that I love doing the garage sale. Seeing actual kids get the set and the joy it brings them. I just don't see that on eBay. I assured her the hug was cool, his mom was shocked when he did it but hey unbridled happiness is an awesome thing. We all have to remember what toys are for.

Nice job on the sales! Someone on Facebook posted about it saying how nice it was. Of course, trolls were commenting about how they think all your sets must've been stolen.

I thought the sky was falling when the DS got the extra cheese slope, then I was certain it was falling when they re-released the winter village toy store, then taj Mahal, then that Technic semi truck (I'm sure I'm missing some more). The moral is, it's happened before and we're still here moaning about it because the sky never really falls. Stick around long enough and you'll see that this is just part of the game.

I'm not with those that have beef with LEGO over reissuing. If on the decision making board, first thing I'd do is look to see the most popular selling sets of last 20 years and re-issue the top 100 on a rotational basis. From a business perspective it absolutely makes perfect sense. It's almost nonsenical not to reissue winners. From a personal perspective though, It is painful as I have many Saturns but all this does is turn LEGO from an investment to a memory of my youth.

No, but they should realize the advantage that they have in being viewed as a premium collectible which increases in value. They don't always seem to embrace the value of that fact.

Seriously, stop it with this OBVIOUSLY doctored photo. LEGO is still releasing it under the theme Ideas. Remember last time I pointed out all the mistakes in this or do I need to refresh someone's memory.

This is exactly what I'm thinking. It seems now the lego group can retire anything after christmas only to bring it back before the next christmas to take advantage of the boost in sales. They can clearly do this with any set, ship in bottle in just the start. The risk is just way to high now for investors as christmas period is the best selling time for most and this takes away all that. They will do its only a matter of time.

Guys, calm down...lego won’t be able to mass revive massive amounts of successful sets without retiring others. So, there will always be sets that retire for good or long enough that they can make us money. It just makes the game of choosing the proper set to invest in even harder

I'm out of Lego Investing. No more buying for me. The entire premise is the retirement of sets. After a few isolated re-issues, it's now clear that all sets are fair game for re-issue. Yes, you can still invest in the "unpopular" sets that have less risk, but that defeats the purpose. Treeshouse obviously will follow this.....

Dude, I'm on a solo road trip for 8 nights (shoutout to the wife staying home with the kids). I was going to do 5 nights in Yellowstone, but people on TripAdvisor convinced me to get to Grand Teton for a few nights. After a lot of research, I ended up going with 2 nights YNP and 3 nights GTNP. You are SPOT ON. I thought Yellowstone was pretty cool last summer, but Grand Teton is so much better for a hiker. I did Delta Lake yesterday - amazing. Lake Solitude today - even better. Tomorrow is Holly Lake and I'll get over 10,000 feet - and another swim. For a flatlander from Minnesota, this is amazing.

No selling expenses so a return of $77.52 for an ROI of 110% 75953 Hogwart's Whomping Willow purchased on 12/27/2019 for $37.10 and sold for $55. No selling expense so a return of $17.90 for an ROI of 48% 75951 Grindelwald's escape purchased on 12/20/19 for $19.95 and sold for $17.00 No selling expense so a return of .05 for an ROI of +0 I knocked off a few dollars on the deal because she is literally my next door neighbor and she has spent $200 plus every year for the last four. Two more sets to sell and i have cleared 10% of the collection this year 🙂 IF you have been looking at some of my other posts here I am moving across multiple states next year to a home with a lot less storage space. started the year with 1350 sets across seven pallets in the basement. I have taken the view that selling is a lot easier and more practical then moving seven pallets. Would much prefer it to be four. My wife still questions my definition of practical.

If it was just the Saturn that was being re released then I wouldn't be so bothered but the ship just concerns me. Was it really a great seller towards the end of life, Lego had both these sets reduced 30 percent off not long ago. Maybe there just testing the waters of a new strategy with regards to re releasing to see how they sell at Christmas.

The funny thing is though that sets like the great hall etc are being kept going by resellers and then we kind of shoot ourselfs in the foot. Maybe now they have done this and many are out the game they will find these sets not doing anywhere near as well and retiring then properly.

What's going on is that Lego appears to have made some recent decisions about the products it would be retiring and those it would be continuing into next year. This is not surprising given the wrench that COVID threw into the gears of its manufacturing and distribution operations. My guess is that they had a plan earlier in the year about what would stay and go, and revisited that plan in the last few weeks based on what has happened between when it was first developed and now.

i sold a smashed to hell minecraft ender dragon for $245 a couple of weeks ago, much more than any of the minty ones i sold earlier for less. i forgot i even had this smashed one otherwise it would have sold it for less too. so you'll either make the most on this one or the least on this one. the choice is up to you. personally i would not discard the box over a popped seal and a crease. you are underestimating the value of the box to the collector even if it is damaged. oh yeah and by the way... @ us shop at home

This is so funny, I was doing the same math earlier today. However, the 100th store opened in NA last year but I don't know how many more have opened since then, if any. I wasn't sure each store received four cases (10 ea), I was guessing three cases based upon feedback from the mgr but we end up with roughly the same number - between 6000-7000 units in NA. What we don't know is how many more were released world wide. That is where your comparison to the TLM2 Bhz (5k ea and only released in NA) falls apart. We do know this was a last-minute addition GWP and so it could end up being one of the lowest production runs for a GWP in recent history. The fact that LEGO ran out day-one I think is testament to that. As for value, well, I guess we'll find out.

I just received my biggest bricklink order (size wise). It's 3500+ pieces in 252 unique lots. I have no clue where to start to check that everything I ordered is there. I know...first world problems.

Lego is relaunching 21309 and 76020 in November 2020 and January of next year. Will the prices drop instantly?
