  1. Here's the same effect with two identical PS boxes--one with 15R5 seal codes and one from R4. Boxes are exactly the same size in real life.

  2. Yes this will be back. We are working on a lot of the previous plugins to make it work here. In the last 30 minutes, we just added a new working version of the Recent Posts homepage widget. You will see that it no longer includes more than one post from the same topic, it works exactly as the previous version did. You will also see at the bottom of each page (forums/threads), that there is the "Latest and Greatest" widget that will show you the Latest Posts, Topics, Hottest Topics, and Latest Blogs. We are getting rid of the Wordpress section of this site and it will be integrated back into this area. It will get more visibility this way, more comments and it is one less system to worry about. We will get to the country plugin very soon.

  3. They can still be purchased separately. Including them only drives up the price and makes it less accessible to buyers, so I can see why they wouldn't do it.

  4. I think it's a huge mistake not to include Power Functions on this set. If any set requires it, it is this one.

Computer Professional and University Lecturer. recently Interested in Lego innovation and I wish to do some cool technic ideas and also Lego Mindstorms + Matlab projects. I'm also trying to establish a Lego business for my wife but it is not so easy to start. But never giving up. I'm currently collecting more parts, practicing with Technic and reading few books. My oldest daughter is a Lego fan, this is here first house after buying a pile of white bricks and roof slopes (with other parts we already have)

  6. The June calendar shows a picture of the Ferris Wheel and says build the Ferris Wheel the star of the Fairground. So it does appear that Lego is planning a fair theme.

  7. The best rates you'll get for shipping are Expedited Parcel with Canada Post. I'd love to hear if someone else has a cheaper way (that isn't borrowing from your company's corporate rate). The key to shipping is to get the right size boxes. Since Canada Post uses dimensional rates for anything larger than a ring box (or so it seems), don't follow their advice to have 4" of empty space on each side. Shipping a full size set like a modular should cost between $22-$30 depending on how far it's going. Following their recommendations you'll be about $40-$50 for a box that size. The good news about that is that shipping box sizes like the SSD isn't really much more than shipping Pet Shops despite them weighing a ton (or tonne).

  8. Both HH and GE have - and will - perform fantastically well. It's a fool's errand to try and pick which one you "should have" invested in with 100% hindsight. Each of these sets is a clear winner, and you didn't make a bad choice in investing in either. You'll drive yourself crazy in this game if you try to retroactively question your portfolio with "what if" questions". Heck, with what I know today I wish I had invested every dollar I had in NIB sealed Market Streets. Worth about $1500 today, with an initial buy-in of $90. Percentage wise, they've done even better than the holy grail Millenium Falcon and Grand Carousel.

  12. 10030 was a 2002 set and was available until at least some time in 2005 (I'm not sure what Brickset has it listed as). Light gray was replaced with light bluish gray in 2004. The set was produced in both colors. It was actually fairly common during the switch to find sets that had both old and new versions of the replaced colors in the same set.

  18. Can someone help tell me how many bags are in the box of the GE?? I'm building it now and count 22 individual bags that are #'d. I seem to be missing an entire #1 bag that has many dark grey bricks. This sucks! Have to call Lego asap if this is the case. Also when you guys find out the # of bags, where can I search that as well. Thanks

  20. No mentioning of power functions on the box. If you look closely at the picture provided earlier, you can figure out that that are 2 wheels on each side driven by one single main axle to rotate the ferris wheel. The mechanical structure (90 degrees joint to connect the vertical axes with horizontal ones and of course gears) is on the right, beneath the wheel on the ground floor. I bet you can rotate the wheel by hand at the right back-side but I also think that it will be possible to apply technic power functions to motorize it. It would definitely be a big plus in my opinion :-)

  21. Taking off minifigure legs is easy but for what reason would there be to simply take the white torso piece and replace it with a black one? A mistake in packaging when the character was compiled is strange but not impossible. Looking over Series 9, there were three characters with black torsos, Waiter, Battle Mech, and Judge. Perhaps the machine used for assembly made a miscalculation.

  22. I am not sure how the light gray border can interfere with the barcode? If you are on mobile, you can probably hold down on the image and save it to your gallery. There you won't have any border. Or if you are on a computer browser, right-click and open the image in a new tab. Then the image will be by itself.

  23. You mean if you wanted to purchase a new set from LEGO's website which time zone do they adhere to generally? I've never really thought about it but now I'm curious.

  24. Kinda sorta what I expected--the box size "difference" is a optical illusion created by the camera angle (the owner of the photo states they are the same size). The other differences are attributable to language. Not sure how meaningful this is.

  25. I'm seeing that too with Chrome. The text editor must have its own right-click menu which is preventing the browser's standard right-click menu from working. I haven't researched if there is a workaround or not. I just keep typing the word a few different ways until the spelling sticks and the red squiggly lines go away. Worst case, I use google in a new tab to help. My spelling is terrible so I will be happy if there is a way to get this fixed at some point.

  28. I will look into buying these when they turn 2 years old. What's going on? Look, I get TH through everyone for a loop but every set is NOT TH and TOOS is NOT EOL. This is getting old. It's a self fullfilling prophecy at this point. Something goes TOOS for normal production reasons, and the herd jumps on it cause it is a sure sign of EOL. Doesn't matter if the set has been out 2 years or 2 months. People are seriously asking if Slave 1 is EOL??? Are you f-ing kidding me?? So they start hoarding and buying up all the stock everywhere which causes further shortages. Which is used as further proof of empending EOL. Own Worst Enemy PS, I apoloigize for my mispelling but the new site updates have broken Firefox's spellchecker.

  33. depends on where you are ordering from. but following have been my experience: a. if one orders quantities closer to the listed limit (its likely that one is going to be short on the count). for example if the seller has 2X4 black 3020 available 120 and the order is also 120. its fairly possible with likely outcome that its going to be short. b. high volume items like pins mostly will be shorted. eg. if the order for 3000 parts. then its fair that it would be short few numbers. but not always. some sellers have actually sent me few hundred more on 1000s orders. overall in my experience mostly they are short than over :) last but not the least i have found a lot of sellers (more than 10 so far in my purchases from over 200+ sellers) that they would ship the item short on count and some tell you and refund you. some don't tell you anything but refund you the same day you receive the item. very few actually (only 1 of 200 so far) who sent me a message saying hey we are short the count does this change anything on the order... i have been buying from that person ever since. have ordered over few thousand worth of parts.

  39. People have mentioned most avenues to sell. I don't see anything wrong with getting your feet wet and trying to sell some items on kijiji. I have had a lot of good sales through kijiji. I guess it depends on the amount of people who have access to your set in your area. I am still trying to get rid of 50% off junk I bought at Sears, TRU, etc. I have learned my lesson and stick with mainly exclusives. Shipping with Canada Post use to be much cheaper than the competition but their rates have skyrocketed up as of the last year. Shipping in Canada really needs to be investigated further to find the cheapest methods now. Good Luck!

  40. Sorry to hear that. Here's a bit of advice. I rarely use my debit card. The only time I use it is if I need money from my bank's ATM. If there's fraud on your debit card, it takes directly from your checking account and getting reimbursed is a little hard. I use my credit cards for everything. The cc's fraud department is very good about reversing fraudulent charges right away, and since the cc isn't linked to your checking account, you're not out any money while you wait for the charges to be reversed. Back to the complaint thread: Why are Magna-tiles so damn expensive!! I found a super deal on craigslist a while back and both my kids (7 and 2) love them and play with them the most out of all the toys they have (even Lego). I want to get more but have yet to see another deal on them.

  41. that number of capital is way over estimated for what is needed to hit 60k a year in profit. Our LEGO sales for last 90 days 2234 items $85,779 sales we run right about 20% clear after fees / shipping. LEGO is only a small portion of our overall business but we never run anywhere near 500k in inventory. Not even a 1/3 of that. just for that quarter the estimated profit would be $17,155. For ease of numbers if those numbers stayed the same for all 4 quarters you'd be at $68,620 in profit before taxes. Obviously 4th quarter will be much higher, usually double to triple the slower quarters. Biggest issue you will have is sourcing that many deals / sales to keep the inventory up for a solid year. This month we actually tried a more wholesale volume based experiment and hit 890 items with $51,643 in sales for the last 30 days. Personally being one person I could not keep that level of purchasing volume up with worthy deals being harder and harder to acquire to keep that pace going year round. The inventory is always flipping so your overall capital is not readily rising much. You're constantly buying as you are selling. You would need at least 100-150k though to have any legitimate shot of doing these numbers. You will need help of others to achieve that much volume of sets to reach those sets. Most people will not be able to come close to doing it out of one area. I have a few good friends on BPer and without them I would not achieve the volume of sales needed to make it worthwhile on a larger scale

  45. I think it's time for a mass online petition to lego re: stickers. Lego is supposed to be a premium product. Premium products should not have 50 stickers. With EEE, they crossed another line as well, with stickers that spanned multiple pieces. Yucko.

  48. That has always been a no-no for me. I am "Spanky" on this site and this site only. Every website I visit I create a new username. I've never used my primary eBay account name anywhere but on eBay. I would never use my real name (or anything that connects to my identity) anywhere. This isn't just a matter of avoiding retailer bans, it is controlling what information people can find out about me online. Example: Let's say I was a malicious individual. What if someone make posts here that reveal they have significant resources to invest into LEGO, and there is enough information posted by that person (either here or on other boards under the same username) for me to figure out where they live. Now that person could unfortunately be a target for robbery. To each their own, but I go out of my way to keep my online "personas" not easily connected to my personal identity.

  49. To me, the ban seems pretty arbitrary & random based on the stories read on here in the past. No definitive pattern on what triggers the initial warning, other than the obvious blatant over-purchasing by some. If the multiple promos were a trigger, I should've had at least a warning months ago. I mainly only purchase from LEGO Shop at Home to get the promos & I've done the 2 purchases in a row that DNIIM mentioned on more than one occasion & not a word from them (knock on wood b/c I do like the promos!). What if I have 2 or 3 kids (only have 1 at the moment), are they supposed to share one Darth Revan? Maybe this thread will help decipher a pattern, but the fact that Lego is spending money (man hours) to track customers down to prevent them from spending money is a head scratcher for me.
