  1. On Amazon: 1/7/15 66 sellers, lowest price $323.99 ONE WEEK LATER (TODAY) 1/14/15 48 sellers, lowest price $399.99 + 8.49 shipping IMO, this will easily be a $500 set by next Christmas (2015).

  3. Even if they did stop production on previous WV sets, I'd wager this would be the first to "sell out" in between production runs. That's Gold Jerry!

  4. Yeah, it was so popular last year that FAO Schwarz was giving away the $80 7347 Highway Pickup Truck with a purchase of the Palace Cinema to entice people into buying them.

  5. Please use a more muscular image in referring to me in the future. Thanks. The irony Is I was in honors English and advanced writing classes throughout school life. I can write very well. But, I'm way too lazy to do so on here, or in text. Seems like a lot of work.

  8. Its hard to believe Lego is telling a few people that the Pet Shop will be out 1-2 more years, end of 2015 it will be out over 4 years,I see the Pet Shop retiring sometime this year and I don't think that the Cinema Palace is done this year, that will make that set a little over 2 years, and its still sells very well.

  9. I agree with runormal too many windows on the toy shop and a false roof. It just looks and feels cheap. I prefer the beach hut it has a nice roof and some neat display features. I would recommend picking this one up on sale to build.

  10. I know it's not a highly talked about line here, but the master builder academy sets seem to be done for. 2 of the 5 in the series are on the official 'retiring soon' page. All 5 of them have been out of stock on LEGO Shop at Home for some time. I bought the entire collection for my kid this past year. They might not be the best dollar per brick value, but they're nicely done sets. I also picked up a couple in the wild (Barnes and Noble is the only place I could find them) to keep for investment. I have a feeling these could be a sleeper, especially in the non-US areas where these weren't ever available.

  13. Miracles do happen.. 4 TH from TRU order place early AM on 1/10 actually shipped today.. Was waiting on cancellation like the last ones I caught but this time they shipped. Am I concerned there is only one tracking number? Maybe just a little.. Also, received all my Rovers today. Seals older than my previous batch, all 51S3. No new run, sorry.

  14. I thought that surely, with a Star Wars movie coming out, Lego wouldn't discontinue the set they have with one of the most iconic Star Wars character's in it (r2d2) but they did. Now I am done with the f5game. if it's been out for a while, and I like it, I am buying it. If I hold it for a while, well, at least I have time to acquire them with discount giftcards and the like as opposed to f5ing for retail. And the fact that everything else has restocked, but this hasn't, scares me.

  16. Almost a full year ago, Bold-Arrow started a thread about his experience with Amazon Warehouse Deals. As I mentioned in today's Daily Deal thread, we recently had our third child, and there was a ton of down time in the hospital. I spent a lot of time browsing the back alley's of Brickpicker's forums, and Bold-Arrow's thread was one I stumbled across. About every 15 minutes or so, I'd refresh the listing of AWD and browse through the results. It's amazing some of the cool older sets that pop up on there! Many of them aren't investment worthy, or even buy and build worthy, but they are interesting to discover even if I ultimately decide not to purchase. I have bought 13 sets in the past 10 or so days, and I have not yet done anything but open the shipping box to verify there was an actual Lego set delivered. I figured I might as well share the excitement of exploring the purchases with all of you while we wait for some actual Lego deals to pop up. My format will go as follows, with each set in an individual post: Set Name: Set Number: Release Year: Retired (Y/******/Maybe): Regular Retail Price: Current Brickpicker Value (New and Used): Purchase Price (Discount): Listed Condition: Description of actual condition (maybe some pics too!): Worth the Purchase?: If any of you have also made recent AWD purchases, feel free to post your own! I'm guessing what we'll find is that the condition code is impossible to crack, but that there may be some trends that develop and can be used to our advantage. I don't think I purchased any "Item is Damaged" sets, but I'm kinda curious to know what that means in regards to Lego. It would be pretty difficult to "damage" any actual bricks, and if any were they can be replaced relatively cheaply on Bricklink/Brickowl/etc. I'm going to go in chronological purchase order, starting with a 9493 X-Wing.

  18. Should of stayed with ole propeller head!!! Finally put an avatar up, joke with my wife that with my luck Gattis will get traded and wtf happens today. Traded to the Astros. 24 hours later. Good for him though, AL park so he can DH and blast homers out of that short left field. Lost our 3 most excicting players other than Kimbrel so rebuild is upon us.

  19. My buyer asked me to ship without the boxes, so it appears mine will be parted out. If anyone else is having buyers remorse on this set get them on bricklink at a reasonable price and you may be able to off load them in one shot.

  23. Been meaning to post this for a while. Pretty much what I think of when trying to determine EOL for sets and other "Plans" of TLG.

  24. Pretty sure it's more of a tactic to try and balance warehouse stock levels, manufacturing schedule, and consumer demand instead. I was also under the impression most of last year that PC was a poor seller, along with TH. I just saw PS or GE going out the door most of the time instead. Could be many reasons for that, but it wouldn't surprise me to see PC and PS blink out together later this year the way GE and TH basically did. Lately I've seen a lot of love for this set on these forums, but still... As the last apparent $150 modular set, with the new "midi-modulars" line, and the general chaos factor, there are plenty of reasons TLG may slap an early retirement on it. I'd start getting serious with PC now if you every plan to (and for my money, it ranks well above PS, maybe even GE).

  26. Availability on US LEGO Shop at Home: Green grocer: 05 Mar 08 - 08 Nov 10 Grand emporium 03 Mar 10 - 05 Oct 14 So they have been available at the same time for 8 months. That's what I was saying: It's some form of an ad that the PC is on the back, something like "hey guys who are new lego collectors and bought the fiirst modular with this one, the great Detective's office set ! Be warned that we still have the PC and the PR and they are available now so go on the LEGO Shop at Home to get each of them !" The back aims new lego collectors to help lego sell the two last sets, not to make people the need of a set they would not be able to buy. Sorry if I'm not easily understood, I still have some trouble to write in english and brickpicker is the only forum in which I write in english, since the last 20 years ! lol edit: but again, it's ok to stock some PC, no problem, I have a lot of them in my room (there were some deals on this set last year).

  28. Out of stock at most retailers online? It's post-Christmas supply chain slow-down. I'm just not feeling PC retirement yet, not with PS still available and 2 years older. Maybe I'm wrong and you can all take it to the bank, but it just isn't in the cards. That said--do the prudent thing and buy a few just to be safe. Slow and steady wins the race to avoid F5 panic.

  29. Or it is PR. You can't know. HH was unavailable at most places. You don't have any information to make inferences like that. There are also other reasons. Differing production costs etc. R2 being a poor seller was probably true though, too much competition from other SW UCS.

  31. Personally, this is a long term to me. This is iconic. Arkham is *the* place the criminals are placed in Gotham. Look at all the minifigs in this set. I think it's great. Batman will always sell, and I think this particular set has a lot of upside to it.

  33. Great idea for a thread! My experience. I bought 2 MF off of AWD last week and a Simpsons house on Sunday for my son's birthday. #1 MF listed as like new for 125. Box was pristine but seals were broken. I verified all bags and instructions were sealed and present. I photographed all bags and the box and listed it as new with open box and sealed bags on Ebay. It sold in 5 hours for 199.95 shipped. #2 MF listed as very good for $115. Box was creased, not badly, and open. As above it was photographed and listed for $199.95 and sold in less than a day. #3 Simpsons House for $164 listed as very good. The box was pristine...better than some new sets I have ordered. All bags and instructions sealed and accounted for. I didn't make big bucks off of the MFs but they were easy to flip and ship. I just had to retape them and slap a new label on them. I would take the risk again. You can always return it if you feel it was not as advertised.

  37. We already do have something to handle this. Its the Variations tab that you see when listing a product. This is here for those that may want to list parts. That is why I have a bunch of the part colors already listed in there in their different categories. Then there are a few CUSTOM attributes there for people that may want to sell items like you or many some clothes, etc. We will continue to fine tune it, but it does already exist. It also allows for different pricing for each item as well as quantity management. So you can say I have 10 red ones at $5.00 each and then I have 100 Blue ones at $4.00 each, etc. You can also list sets this way. You may have 100 #10188 Death Stars. You can use this to breakout conditions. 50 maybe MISB, 20 may not have a box or no minifigures, etc. Then people can select what they want and it will allow you to set the different prices.

  41. It will be surprising this set goes this fast out and will really catch a lot of people off guard. Definitely a good set, a corner one of awesome design! Not sure if it's just holiday shortage or what. We'll see. I didn't even see one at my LEGO store last weekend when I went there. If it's out and PS is going, LEGO only has two modulars out? hmmm... I will bet they're smarter.

  44. Ok, I'll just keep track and post them occasionally. As for the site itself, a couple questions: 1) Is there a "vacation" mode for your shop? I'd like to setup some listings, but not make them active yet. I have to "unpack" some items to get real photos but I'd like to tinker with the listings in the mean time <see next question>. I imagine that I can just set quantity to 0 for now, but that would be kind of a pain if you really do go on holidays like I did over Xmas. 2) Can someone explain how setting up shipping works? I saw an earlier post about a "shipping calculator" but I see no such option? All I see are shipping profiles which seem to be flat rate shipping for 1, then additional cost per additional item (and is that per same item, or different item?). On the note of shipping, I fully support the option to filter by "ship to my region." I think all but one or two of the listings I clicked on don't ship to Canada. That will majorly stink if all you guys down south don't ship to us up north!

  46. Well I'll be. It looks like we are on the same page. Haha. I do miss those tires so it is great to see them make a little comeback. My other favorite feature is the new color for the space armor Toxikita is wearing. Galaxy Patrol was dark blue, Alien Trooper and Space Miner is dark bluish gray, Infearno with red, now here it is in yellow. Perhaps eventually that armor will be available in every classic color. ^_^

  47. I use a mild laundry detergent, get a plastic tub/bin/drawer/whatever, pour a cap's worth of solution in there, fill it with warm water (same temp you use for washing your own hands), put all the Lego parts in there, swirl em' around for a bit to mix it all up, then let them sit for a day or two at least (maybe more if you think they need it). Now get a strainer (try plastic cause metal can damage pieces if you're not careful) and pour them out into it allowing the water to drain while catching the parts. Let them dry and air out for a day or until done. They should smell better and be sanitized for your protection! This isn't for cigarette smoke specifically but the process I use to clean any Lego brick typically gets rid of any kind of stale smells and filth. However, it does usually make the parts smell 'lavendery' instead for a while though.
