  1. Sometimes, you have to sell for political reasons. Sold a SSD 10221 for $725. Long story: Managed to get a couple of SSDs last month, below RRP. I had to spend some political captial with the wife to make the transaction happen. Since these were taking me over my target number of SSDs, wife insisted that I try to flip one before the end of the year. I agreed to it, and it sold last night. Once she heard what we cleared, after taxes/fees, she was a little disappointed (which is a good thing). It reminded her why we're holding onto to some of these sets. So, I politically won the battle, cleared over $200 for holding onto an SSD for a month, and everyone's happy (more or less).

  4. Still, sold out is more encouraging than 'temporarily out of stock' like other sets we're pretty sure are coming back (or already came back).

  5. Yes its just dummy text for now, it will all be replaced with real content very soon. The word LEGO overall is fine, it will be good for Search Engines later. Whether people want to include it or not, it doesn't matter to me. I do have a shipping calculator in the works that will help with Domestic and International prices to help people build shipping profiles if they want. If you have used Etsy before it works just like that which we feel is a good fit for this type of marketplace.

  8. Welcome to the site. As a fellow relatively new member, I've learned from the wisdom of the group, and would definitely advise a lot of lurking before actual purchasing. Based on your intro, buying $50 a month worth of sets won't return the short term gains you would like unless you're extremely lucky. Definitely start saving that money, but don't deploy it unless a "sure thing" comes along. Quick flipping is tough business, and margins are often slim. Fees are high on eBay (13-20% depending whether you pay for shipping and have cheap shipping materials), and selling through other avenues may take longer or have fewer customers. You also missed the prime holiday sellling season, which is unfortunate. Make sure to do your research before buying sets; look up the all time lowest prices and try to make sure you won't be undercut on pricing. Look on Bricklink or other sites for the minifig values and see what a worst care scenario part out might return. Stalk Craigslist for bulk lots on the cheap and try to put together used sets. You can lick into short term success here, but as an admitted newbie like myself a few short months ago, I would definitely advise a "measure twice , cut once approach". Good luck!

  9. Maybe our "target" seller is not all that serious. Maybe it's the small seller, with 5 or 10 sets that dabbles in this that we are looking to make happy. Maybe that's what most of our 37,000 members are. Maybe we are the Etsy of LEGO sites.

  11. We appreciate you wanting to take part in helping shape the future of Brick Classifieds. Ed and I want to try and get it right (well the best we can anyhow). We invite Brickpicker members that are currently active in listing their products in any of the online venues to talk to us about what works, what doesn't, etc. Some features you will have to go into with an open mind and trust that Ed and I want to try something new and not just duplicate what is already out there. Will we get it right 100% of the time, no, of course not, but it never hurts to try. We value your time and opinions. Don't be afraid to bring anything up, you never know if it will be a big factor in the growth of Brick Classifieds. Thanks Jeff and Ed Note: We made this discussion public due to so many requests of people that want to take part in this. Ed suggested it is better to get as much feedback as possible. If you have any other suggestions that you don't want to make public, feel free to send me a PM.

  12. This is just a little tid bit of info for how I will be trying to keep my inventory organized. A lot of you have a closet or tucked away place where you store your sets out of carboard boxes. While this is great to see it's not so great for little prying eyes. Of which I have two sets to contend with. The storage closet where I keep my sets is locked most of the time, but it also has bikes and other outdoor toys in it for my boys. Just about all of the sets in this closet are in carboard boxes of varies sizes. Enough of the back story. I have created a pdf Label template to put on the outside of my cardboard boxes to help me keep track of whats inside each box. There is a thumbnail of the theme (to aid me) for each label. I've also added a line item to let me know to hold or to sell the item. These labels were set up to use with 1/2 sheet labels (5.5x8.5) that I print my shipping lables on through eBay. Take a look and let me know what you think. This label can be filled out via acrobat. (pm me if you'd like a copy of the labels)

  20. Aquaman is back in set 76027 which will be released in just a few days. He looks identical to this version. I don't see many people paying extra for a white suit arctic Batman, so Mr. Freeze will have to carry this set. I can see it doing well because of that, but I would set the ceiling much lower than 6866.

  25. I have high hopes for this one as well, honestly need to pick up some more before EOL, cheap little set with a lot of potential. I don`t think it will go as high as Wolverine did though, at least not in the short term. There has been just too much supply is seems, and still is. On the way out definitely at this point, though it still has a bit of time here for those that would like to pick up more. I`d do it fairly quickly though if that`s the case. Should double pretty fast I would think, though 300% like Wolverine I don`t think will happen right away. Maybe by next Christmas if you`re very optimistic. Guess we`ll see, I`m excited though!

  26. Hello and welcome. The question you pose is a question that each should decide on their own. Please read alot about the different sets here in this forum, their strong points, weak points and similar set performance in the past. Then you will be able to answer that question yourself. The only tip I give you at this moment is to focuss more on the larger sets, exclusives. I am sceptic about people that have no real interest in LEGO being good investors, but then again, there are some examples here (like hxckid88) that did and do pretty well. A piece of advice, do not buy everything in clearance. A set costing 50$ marked down 50% doesn't mean it is pers

  30. Yes. And also a warning: don't get excited every time someone, or even multiple people get excited in this forum about one or the other really great deal nobody should miss. Yes, they may be, for them. Or they might not, or not for you. Don't let others do your homework for you. If you see great excitement, especially in the daily deals thread, it is not immediate time to buy - it is time for homework. You will miss deals that way. But you will also pass on many non-deals, which is more important.

  47. I really love all those nice displays! (And storage room photos of well though I thought there was a thread especially for that). There are quite some great pictures and I especially love the fact that there are other nutcases who love LEGO like I do Don't really have any big displays right now since I lack the space and the time to do so. But I got my minifigs displayed and maybe some here enjoy the pictures so I'll post some of them ^.^

  48. Exceptions can be made when a seller has a certain amount of positive sales. We already discussed this with Justafrog awhile back. We are going to have a badge that is called "BrickPicker Approved." This badge can be used for special sellers and circumstances. If you are selling hundreds or thousands of sets, then of course Jeff or I can make special pricing or arrangements for any seller who we see worthy of it. Basically, a seller would submit all of their eBay, Amazon, Bricklink, Brick Owl information and feedback and we would check it out. If a seller has perfect feedback on other sales sites, we could stamp them with our seal of approval and the photo option could be overridden. We figure that if you are a great seller on one or more sites, you will probably be here. As KShine stated above though, I believe real photos help sell, but if you are willing tom show us your history from other sites, we will make it work for both parties.

  49. I am glad you like the Brick Trader feature. Brick Classifieds will be a whole new site and not even be attached to Brickpicker or the forums at all. Over time elements of both sites will cross paths with information, but they will be their own platforms.

  50. War Machine was my only reason for getting the set for collection as well. If someone is realy into getting Iron Man and all the suits, they have to get this set. Otherwise, I think the set is kind of useless. I'd grab at least a few. They seem to be cheaper at the moment. The price can only go up,especially if there aren't any other sets released with him when this goes EOL.
