  14. I agree but if I may offer a contrasting point... If everyone stocks up on The Tumbler now, then we will miss the inevitable F5 adventures and the following expressions: "I thought that this would be around for another year" "I only wanted one to build for myself (then you should have bought and built already, like I do)" BrickTrader posts "1 set that is worth 2/3 of the current value of the Tumbler for your NISB Tumbler" - Deal of the year "Tumbler at Amazon" - Stampede runs until BA announces "Poof" and the next post is "I had it in my cart!" or "Stupid Work!" or "New Credit Card..." and lastly, an Ed post stating how Ed has bought these and has 40 of them and you should have been buying one every month instead of 5 smaller sets. On second thought, please don't stock up on these now, I will have less entertainment in the future. Thanks for your cooperation

  16. If this was a final run then they will be at $50 in the USA quickly. HK buyers are already at $50. If this is not a final run then that is what 90 day free returns are for.

  17. In my opinion It will be a very long time before this is above 50 again. There is a lot of stock going to resellers the past couple days...I know without trying very hard we have gotten about 20; 5 from target preorder, 12 from WM initial offering (thanks to BP), 4 2x each from Amazon and 1 or 2 from Lego store...Since I usually aim for at least 2x what i pay I have a feeling I will still be staring most of these until at least this time next year.

  20. Remember prior to SW every winter set in the theme was available at a very steep discount. 7347 has offset the cost of our WVMs quite nicely. We have made good money on all of the retired sets so far in this theme. Buying WVM at retail is a tough sell but you could certainly do worse.

  23. I've stated my opinion on this set before, It looks like 5 small winter sets combined as 1. (4 poly bags surrounding one Carousel.) The fact that Amazon still has these at msrp while Lego is Sold Out, its only a vindication of popular (investors) thinking.

  25. I have the warm fuzzies. I just sold an ender dragon set to a dad who drove over 2 hrs so that he could make his boy's Christmas wish come true. This is what Christmas is all about.... going to any length to get this year's hot holiday toy or have your kid hate you forever.

  28. Comparing Tumbler to RI is like comparing apples to a '79 Yugo
    1 point
  29. I'm all about ordering just before EOL, but I don't want to be caught, either. Look at the Research Institute set. TLG said they would make more of the RI, and oh yes they did, but I was only able to recently order one, and the next day it went to officially sold out. While there is a possibility that this Tumbler set will be available all through 2015, there's also the possibility that its availability will be very limited to most people (not everyone has a Lego store they can drive to), similar to the RI and the Exo-Suit. I rely on Toys R Us (shipping and local store) and LEGO Shop at Home for all of my Lego. If too many people continue to order this set, it will still be hard to get all the way through to its EOL. The real problem is, like with 41999 Technic Crawler, how many of the sales Lego has for this set are to end-user collectors/builders, and how many are strictly flippers/investors? If this set is selling like hotcakes at LEGO Shop at Home and 90% of those sales are to flippers and investors, what happens when EOL comes and now there are hundreds or thousands on the market? I can say from first-hand experience I've watched a collector's market go from what LEGO is currently at, to implosion, within 18 months. I'm not talking about some dinky figurine market, I'm talking about a multi-billion dollar market. 18 months ago most of our customers (90%+) were collectors, but overnight we experienced a surge of flippers. This irritated a lot of collectors, as they were not able to get the item they wanted before its price going up in the aftermarket, and it selling out. Flippers would even buy from other flippers in an attempt to corner the market. It all came to a halt this spring when the manufacturer started increasing the number of each item made, due to the "increased demand", which was actually artificial. Flippers are not end users (consumers), and therefore, do not add to the number of total consumers. An item that normally would have 5,000 made, but now has 10,000 or 15,000 made because 100 flippers who bought 50 each in an attempt to corner the market will never be able to sell those 5,000 pieces as the end users don't exist in those numbers. Not now, not ever. I see a lot of parallels between what I've seen in the market and what's happening with LEGO and what has happened in the market where I work. I wrote a bit of the same sort of commentary a year ago with regards to the 41999 Technic Crawler, and I still see it more and more each day I look. Based on the current sales and the supply of this set on BrickLink, 41999 will never be above $400 and is actually trending downwards at the moment. Look at BrickLink sales over the past 6 months. A total of 57 have sold in 6 months, and currently there are 252 for sale. Even at the steady rate of sale, that's over 2 years of supply that remains. I'm not saying Lego investing is a bad idea, but you do have to pick your battles, especially now. You have to be really smart about it. Sets like the Town Hall going EOL caught people off guard. There will be others. The sets that catch people off guard (the sleepers) will be worth the most when there are few investors/flippers who bought them up. But only if there are end-user customers for them. Locutis

  30. For personal collection, you're not going to get a better price than that, so go for it. For investment, the set has only been out 6 months, so it's likely going to be around another 18 months (which is the trend with most exclusives) - your money would be better spent elsewhere.

  31. Not overly sure on the Mixer, I bought one for a quick flip when they first launched and was lucky to break even. I've had one on eBay for a couple of months ranging from $200 - $250 (later with free shipping) but haven't had a bite. I think that this set falls down is with the exposure (only at DJ) and where it fits in? Modulars, WVM? Depends if you want to drop $150 on that, or put it against something like a PC, etc.

  33. Thanks for sharing, Raven! I don't operate on a scale anywhere near your's, but I'm always willing to pick up a tool to make my job a bit easier (and cut costs). At this point, I'm able to sustain my shipping with boxes I get from online orders, stores, etc., so multi-depth boxes aren't really an issue, but I'll definitely keep it in mind for the future. Thanks again!

  34. Also just able to carry a few box sizes less. We use 24x16x12 a lot in our daily operations and with the sizer you can change the depth easily as thats a common size for us. They make a 24x16x12 multi depth but with the indented lines the boxes lose some of there stability doing it that way so I rather use the non multi depth version and cut it to my size. In the instance of this box size the 24x16x12 is also the cheapest of the bunch by 12 cents to 20 cents a box. Not a ton but when you use a lot it does ad up.
    1 point
  35. yes we use it daily. Theres some box sizes that its cheaper just to get the larger depth size and cut it down. Its a quick process as well so not losing to much time. You do need to change the blades out after awhile but they are reasonable. we just order with our Uline order. Same thing though http://www.uline.com/BL_3401/Carton-Sizer?keywords=box%20sizer

  37. Congrats to the plasticmanor for winning our first ever brickpicker fantasy football championship! It was a fun season and hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves, even if your season wasn't as successful as you had hoped. I have sent the prize money to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers via a paypal friends payment. If you choose to spend your winnings on a lego set(s), please take a picture and show us what you won. I'll run the league again next season since it seems like we will have enough interest again.

  38. Yeah, with the week 47 run and it due back in stock at Amazon (and presumably elsewhere) there should be availability for several months now. I'm not sure about 2016 retirement unless one expects Jan. 2016 as the official retirement date, but if it behaves like other hard to find sets this year, Death Star could be very hard to find everywhere come late summer or early fall. The new movie may only expedite the retirement process depending on Lego production schedules. This set will do very well in retirement despite its lengthy life IMO.

  39. Does your gut hate money? I don't really get all the funhouse hate and the knee jerk reaction to a rumor about a new "Jokerland" set. The funhouse was available almost this entire year at TRU markup. Despite that, it is selling for $80 on Amazon right now. That's pretty good for a $40 MSRP set that many folks were able to get for $30 or get it with some freebies. Effectively, its only been retired for a few months given the TRU availability. But hey, if people want to rush and dump now based on a set we haven't even seen then that's their choice. Maybe people are just being impatient for having to hold the set for so long? That is a risk that is taken when purchasing TRU exclusives. On the flip side, people were being criticized for "dumping" their Quinjets. Which is a set that has performed below most expectations post retirement, been retired longer than the funhouse (or to put it another way, been gone from primary retail channels longer than the funhouse) and we have actually seen official pics of what the remake is gonna look like which is coming out in a few months. What if the new jokerland sets actually pairs with the funhouse?

  40. Bought a Tower Bridge on EBay last night, since I had some discounted gift cards and wanted to take advantage of the EBay bucks promo. Has anyone purchased from Niko at New-Sealed? He has crazy prices on some stuff, but decent prices on others. His store disturbs me to the core, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

  41. Report REGARDLESS of whether you hit the 20K and they report. Don't mess with the IRS. They are the only bill collector who can knock your door down and take your stuff WITHOUT going to court first. They are the only bill collector who can put you in jail. PayPal's reporting requirement has nothing to do with your reporting requirement.

  42. As a fan of the entire series of books and movies I have let it cloud my judgement a bit with the LEGO sets. I still think there is hope for future performance and think that once the theme is gone for good people will realize they missed out on it. It's a theme that will likely never be revisited. As a fan, I just wish there was one more wave of LOTR sets to round out the Two Towers and Return of the King characters and locations that they never got to.

  43. Don't listen to the hipster critics on the new hobbit movie, it r0x0rs b0x0rs. They found the "multiple storylines" confusing. I would image they also find tic-tac-toe a strategic quagmire, as the movie only had 2 major locations: lake town and the mountain. Almost no unnecessary dialog and loose ends were tied. Did a nice job foreshadowing what was coming in LotR. I loved the cameo of a LotR protagonist in his good form during the witch king battle. I couldn't turn off the lego investor as I watched. All I kept saying was "YES YES YES". May be too little too late, but hopefully the older sets get a nice bump from the closing of the series. I for one can't wait to finish my collection now and will enjoy a LotR / Hobbit marathon during Christmas break
