  1. Ed and I want to create a page here in the forum (or somewhere) that will allow anyone who has an eBay and/or Amazon store to create a banner ad and advertise their store during the holiday season. Just PM me with a 728x90 banner and any small message about possible deals that you might be offering. Also make sure you include a link to your store and store name if there is one. If you want to include your Brickpicker name, let me know, otherwise I will keep it anonymous. This can be a good way for you to bring some new life to your store and get your holiday season sales off to a good start.

  5. The LEGO boomers (the generation that spent their childhood in the 80s), is just now entering their prime income earning years (mid/late 30s or early 40s). The typical LEGO boomer has 2-3 kids, at least one is probably a boy, and that son is most likely at least 3 by now (I know girls like LEGO too). This is the prime season of their life to leave the Dark Ages and rekindle their love for LEGO. I think its only just begun. Christmas of 2015 will be even more special when LEGO capitalizes on Star Wars. After that will be the new LEGO movie featuring Batman and who knows what else LEGO has up its sleeve? So I agree with Ed, I have no concerns that I won't be able to sell a TH, SSD or HH in 3-5 years for big bucks.

  6. Well, a completed Modular street is quite a display and the Town Hall is the centerpiece IMO. I think you underestimate LEGO fans and their habits.

  8. A comment like this dosnt make sense. You have no idea what one paid for them. I got 7 of mine for free.... Without purchasing a thing. Some I did purchase. I used points and gift cards. Many got these with purchase of actually doing promo. Your assuming people paid 20.00 for all of theirs which just isn't the case.

  9. My guess $19.99 on birds and $49.99 on TBBT.

  10. If part of Lego's strategy is to introduce new AFOL's to the brand, TBBT is a great set to approve. I don't follow the show myself, but the ratings don't lie. From Lego's perspective, this set may introduce a massive new audience to their products. And the more AFOL's acquired, the better for Lego, and, we investors.

  11. It seems like a lot of people are disappointed by the big bang theory (TBBT) set in this forum. I'm extremely surprised. Of course you have to be a fan to understand of incredible is this Ideas set. Cool details, like the heating switch or green lantern's... lantern next to the skyrocket. And seven minifigs ! About the display, it can easily been MOCed and have the kitchen added, etc. Great. In my country, TBBT is extremely popular, as much as walking dead or game of thrones (to compare with series which are on TV screens at the same moment). The only (fun) TV serie which is as popular here is Malcom. Next, I would say American Housewives or Friends (but it's not as fun as it was in the 90's). But Dr Who... I'm sure a lot of french people don't know who he is. Well, geeks do know of course. Why isn't he popular ? Because the series have not been on TV screens, or for a short time. David Tennant and Matt Smith episodes have been on TV screens but I'm not sure about the others Doctors... at least I can't remember them. We have not that much TV series here. Lots of stupid shows (supposed to be fun, ah ah.... kill me please). So when a fun TV serie like TBBT come to us, it's a success. I can imagine TBBT lego set being as much popular as the ecto-1 here. No problem.

  13. Someone just sent me a best offer - $6,000.00 for 2 10230 mini modular sets. Should I horrify them by accepting?

  14. It will never get cheaper.....even less after the holidays when there will be fewer available.....

  15. I was not able to resell those, even for a cheap price. I can't blame people, I think it's not appealing. The minifig reminds me an orange Woody Woodpecker and the vehicule is far too small. I gave my polybags as freebies with the big chima and ninjago sets I sold.

  17. I know most people didn't pay $20. They came with the $75 purchase so you either spent $500+ before coupons to get 7 of them or knew somebody at the store who gave you a special deal. Driving to multiple stores and paying fees, shipping, and taxes will whittle that $140 or less down to $100 or less. Alot of people are working really hard to flip LEGO short term for less than minimum wage.

  18. Me not personally liking a set just makes it easier to offload the last few when they are going for huge money. That's all I'm saying. Also, any guesses as to MSRP on these? My guess is that between the licensing and 7 figs that TBBT set will be pricey.

  21. There is but one thing: The DS factor. Personally I think R2D2 will be a winner. The only question is "when". Even after its retirement there will be a lot of resellers. With the three upcoming movies and all I can see how LEGO would like to keep this one alive. So if you do have the money and the space to go all emazer/ed on this one... (see the pun? ;-) ) it's worth a try. As for me I will be a little bit (maybe too) cautious. (If it does go EOL next year BAM!)

  22. 90% of my sets are also long-term holds. I use to be the same exact way about box condition. Then reality set in. It's just a box. Being sealed is what matters to the majority of AFOL buyers in the secondary market for expensive sets. Additionally, no matter how well I pack my sets when selling (and my packing skills are solid), I'm still at the mercy of the postage carriers. I rarely ever buy sets when they are released but if I do, that's when I'm anal about box condition. Same goes for if I'm at the store and there are 2+ copies of the same set, of course I'm buying the better box. Since most of my set purchases are toward the end of a set's retail life, box condition is less important especially when I'm buying online. Additionally, severe damaged boxes are sometimes discounted either before or after the sale so that money saved is more important to me. But hey, everyone is different,

  23. relatively healthy in Europe meaning that its not selling as they expected. which would be the case in us as well "has it not been people hoarding it for investment" probably LEGO is not an investment vehicle in Europe. whatever they are doing they are just feeding "the same people they hate"

  24. When does the $600 in fees hit your account? It will get reversed but not sure you want to deal with that hassle unless they do not charge your account until it is paid (I've never looked at that in all the hundreds of my sales). I would message them and not accept.

  25. After holidays the leftover sets will be raised in price to because less availability and sellers won't be as urgent to sell a month after the Christmas rush. Slow and steady with big $$$$

  27. It depends on how the buyer sends a PayPal payment. PayPal would refund the buyer if the buyer sends the payment as payment for goods and services and specifies a delivery address. PayPal Seller Protection only protects sellers for physical goods that are shipped by a third party major shipper (government postal service, DHL, UPS, etc) that has online tracking available that they can independently verify. If the Paypal payment for goods/services does not have a delivery address, it can be considered local pickup/delivery where verification is not required and the money can not be taken away. There are also PayPal payments that are gifts, not for goods/services. Those can not be taken away either.

  35. I always loved the knights theme so personally I cannot wrong with it I'm a little bit sad that I missed out on the other cool kingdoms sets but to be honest I could buy them if I wanted to since the price didn't go that high. I cannot imagine that LEGO will not eventually bring out even cooler sets for that theme. The Joust Set always reminds me of Game of Thrones ;-)

  37. 6987 Message Intercept Base - pieced together from a bulk lot I bought. Saw the big trans-yellow piece and took a chance that the rest of the set was in there. Only missing a few common parts that I easily found in my collection. It was also missing the crater baseplate, but I had a stack of those on hand. The trans-yellow pieces are in great shape, very clear. This is the only Blacktron I set I needed to complete my collection, very happy to finally have this. It's sooo cool.

  38. It was not referring to you, but let me comment anyway. I was referring to people who clean a store out of any item. It brings negative attention to all of us. We do not all hit the maximum purchase amount when buying something like ravenb99 said. Many of us do not buy and flip short term. Moderating purchasing techniques and spreading around your purchases will help us all in the future. A guy like emazers spreads his purchases out, by stores and time. He doesn't acquire 50 of an exclusive set in a one time purchase, that is why he hasn't been banned at every LEGO store. Do what you want. I am speaking from experience and how not to draw attention to yourself. I have well over 7000 sets and never was banned, questioned or left Little Johnny with no sets to buy.

  40. After (a while ago) seeing jaisonline modifications (which I really liked) I bought some 1x8 door rail pieces and modified my DeLorean Time Machine myself. I'm pretty satisfied with the results. Just where the window is I had the feeling that something was amiss and my solution is far from being perfect... but somehow I still like it more than leaving this area "naked" ;-) Here are some pictures so that you can see what I did and how it looks. I added: -Some smooth elements on the doors lifting arms (or however you call it... ) -a 1x1 brick and a 1x4 brick both black underneath the door because of -a 2x6 brick on the roof underneath the smooth brick (+ two 1x2 smooth bricks) and additionally two 1x2 bricks to elevate the roof even more (just on top of the flux capacitor and the bricks behind it). -an angular smooth 1x1 brick on both sides (rear mirror) and I replaced the smooth black 1x1 bricks with those round smooth silver 1x1 bricks -a 1x2 silver grid behind the... eh... binoculars brick thingy on the roof - and those bricks you can see where the window is situated Now it does not only look better/cooler (at least to me ;-) ) but there's also enough space to put Doc Brown into the car. Maybe even both minifigs but I guess putting one minifig inside already is a great achievement ;-P Thanks again to everybody who posted his modifications, without I probably would not even have had the idea to modify anything. I feel much more pleased with my result now than with the original design of the set.

  41. It gets even worse when you compare it to the ecto 1 ** sigh ** And you're right. Minifigs hardly fit in. Every time I look at those pics makes me more depressed they didn't make a UCS out of that gullwinged car.

  42. Everyone settle down. Listen, these same exact words were said last year. Everyone was freaking out about lack of sales. Black Friday was decent last year - couple of nice things, especially the Walmart deal. But Cyber Monday, none of us expected or knew about. Amazon has had some super deals and will continue to. I trust TRU will do some serious selling again. It is true they have had less sales as of late, but they just increased their points back for the TRU CC which is awesome, and they have had a lot of coupons, etc. I think you will see a lot from them during Christmas. Barnes and Noble has proved that though they aren't big on Lego coupons anymore (mine luckily still work at my store) but they already started the Toy and game BOGOs they had late last year (I destroyed my BN stock with these). Target and Walmart have been the exact same all year. You know why I trust all these places will have huge sales? Because Lego sells better than anything else. They have room and will sell insane amounts of it. No way Amazon looks at what was sold on Cyber Monday last year and says "lets not do that again". Like 30 sets went OOS. Im taking Cyber Monday off work BTW.

  43. But I WANNA see them NOW! ;-) I have high hopes for this theme in particular and am somewhat afraid at the same time... Did the Dino theme do well in the secondary market? Though I really liked the first movie I was disappointed by the other two movies. You can argue about it but I would say that they've only been released thanks to the first one. Those did not have any stand alone potential. I hope I can reenact the scene where the velociraptor is infront of the door and Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler push against it with all their weight to keep it outside while the girl tries to active the door locks. They have this shotgun with them but cannot reach it (Alan dropped it when the velociraptor tries to push the door open ^.^)... I wonder why he just didn't use it though.... anyhow at some point they try to reach it but do not succeed... bad luck for them that there is nobody else in the room who could just pick it up for them... (the boy for example who just kind of stands there doing nothing). When they finally succeed in locking the door the velociraptor somehow finds another way in and Alan uses the shotgun... to make noise I would say since you only here it getting fired once or twice and then he is out of ammo... no velociraptor have been hurt tough... since we do not see the scene (must look brillant though!) but only hear the sounds I was always looking forward to reenact it with LEGO ;-) so i'm really looking forwards to those sets! oh and the fat guy! wonder what LEGO will make him look like! And they'd better not skip the first movie!!!
