  1. I popped into Wal-Mart where I've been watching some older sets for discounts. They have an entire 2-sided isle of legos marked down and an additional 50% off the marked price. I spent $2000, but scored 10 Lego 9398 for $45 each; 3 Millenium Falcons for $32 each; SW Jek 14 $15 each; and 5 Goblin Attack Sets for $22 each. I also grabbed a bunch of smaller sets for kid's Christmas gifts. I broke the bank, but I'm set for Christmas selling. The only set I left behind was TMNT Shell Raiser. I figure if they have to discount them when the new movie just came out than TMNT must be a loser. Now I have to bust the blow dryer to pull off the clearance stickers without damaging the sets.

  3. I got this deal on EBAY last friday but did not want to post until I actually received them. I tought it was to good to be true. It was on the toysrus canada ebay page. The deal lasted like 5 minutes and it was all gone (well five minutes after I got there) I managed to get 5 Fire Transporter (4430) at 11.50$ CAN shipped and tax included. Pretty sweet deal but tought they might cancel the order. But they got here today Will be an easy flip for christmas at around 55$ a piece around here. Should I hold to one or two? Its retired and its kind of a unique fire set.

  7. If a major restock is coming, we can all just re-Tweet the heck out of that NYT article and get the ball rolling again.

  8. Careful, you're handling hotcakes using that strategy! We don't get that many deals, don't hog them all! And if you do that too often, we might just have to resurrect the White House posts from that other thread to recover a little national pride....

  9. My Wal-Mart reports that all Wal-MArts are clearing space for new Super Hero and Turtle Sets coming in this week. The amount clearance depends on the space available

  11. This is a topic for another thread, but buying LEGO on credit is a viable practice...and actually smart at times. Using someone else's money to buy an appreciating asset(especially when bought at a discount) works for many on this site. You just have to be careful not to overextend one's self.

  13. Oh ok, I misunderstood situation then. Like Ed Mack said, it is a very good investment. If I say i'd never buy a set above retail, i'd be a hypocrite because I bought 2 rovers at 45

  14. One is licensed, the other isn't perhaps? If Lego has paid for a Ghostbusters license, they're going to want to make the best of it for its duration. A small set of a few generic minifigs and some bits and bobs (RI) selling at $20 a go, probably isn't worth taking any further, even with the high (for now) demand. They'll have a new Ideas set out soon enough to cash in on.

  17. I think this is wrong advice. What if next month there is an accident with his car or any other financial problem. Don't think people should be advised to buy Lego on credit even if it would be a possible good deal.

  18. i have to thank you for that. without your help i wouldn't have been able to acquire them.

  20. I called. Nice person. They have been overwhelmed with calls on it. They are only getting in enough for backorders at LEGO Shop at Home. I asked about restocks at other stores. She said, any extras will go to retail lego stores in a few weeks so keep in touch with your local store. I said so production is winding down on this rather than up and they said yes. Sounds like there will be a small window and then it is gone. I agree with legodeloreans info.

  23. I know that I just talked with someone at LEGO Shop at Home and understood what she said, clear as day. If you are referring to what I posted, I was just relaying info from an actual Lego employee that I spoke with and shared it with you all because I thought you all might want to know. Could she be wrong? Sure. Could she be right? Sure. Take it how you want it.

  24. Without any knowledge of the Series 2 lineup, I would guess that there would be new characters introduced as minifigures across the board. The only way I see Series 1 dropping is if they reintroduced all or most of the same characters from Series 1. I highly doubt TLG would do that - woudn't they just extend Series 1 in that case? EDIT - I will be interested to see if there are any eBay or Amazon price spikes in Series 1 Simpsons with this rumor swirling...

  26. There are 5 RCS stores I hit in the GTA and some are better than others by far. While the better ones do have a good variety of themes (Star Wars, City, LOTR, Super-heroes, Ninjago, Chima, Friends) they almost never have any sets higher than $80 MSRP. But that's okay because my best deals have always come from RCS and I'm easily able to sell any set at least at MSRP, which is a 100% return based on the clearance prices I pay. My best ever deal was the other month when one store had 7 Wolverine Choppers suddenly and they were on clearance for $11 (and I paid only $7 due to other discounts) at a time when they were (and still are) fetching $70 US on ebay!!!

  30. Well, I did get to the point where I was just going in and buying the toys/coupons straight up for a buck a piece. Although, I did have loads of free waffle cone frosty vouchers I cashed in on while I was there. I can eat, but I can also lose it when I need to. It's a fine balance.

  31. Exciter, if I hadn't seen a picture of you I would have guessed you looked like someone off Honey Boo Boo with all these food things. I mean you ate at Wendy's last year like 30 times in a month.

  33. I mean no offense, but I think you did not get my point. I agree with you in general, but LEGO shouldn't have targeted kids with LotR from the beginning because that audience just doesn't care about it. That's where your argument fails: nobody, neither adults nor kids needed those playsets you are talking about. LotR is obviously an AFOL theme with no clear potential among children. Hobbit sets would have been enough to cater for the kids' needs since the related movie is more childish. In essence LEGO fell between two stools. It picked a very popular AFOL theme and made sets for children from it and now they wonder why it was selling bad. Additionally they released them in conjunction with the Hobbit sets and kids want the ones they see in the movies. The children's market was oversaturated. I concluded that releasing regular playsets was pointless, since I guess that even like this way mostly adults bought them. LEGO should have known this and released LotR only as exclusives, just like they did with the Simpsons.

  36. I went under the house today to clean it up and it was a disaster. But after a few hours i was able to move all our junk of to the side to make easy access to my lego boxes. I may be a little bit of an addict lol. Oh I'm currently missing my simpsons house box. The kids made a wreck of it and I'm fixing it.

  40. Hi, I found this very interesting, but wasnt sure where to post this thread. Feel free to move it. A pair of back-to-back Lego heists last week exposed a flourishing trend in the criminal underworld that's been quietly building for years. Stolen Legos are as untraceable as cash. 47. Guess I should be patient and ask more for mine, if this is it the price is definitely going up. Something tells me Lego will release more though, it`s just strange. Remind me of Minecraft a couple years back, major spike in price, then more is released and the price comes down.
