Hey @Alpinemaps, we were there earlier this week as well! California Adventure on Monday and Disneyland on Tuesday. We go pretty much every year, except last year due to COVID. The park being at 35% capacity was amazing. The park never felt super crowded, and the lines for many rides were ridiculously short. Incredicoaster 10 mins, Goofy’s Flying School 10 mins, Star Tours 5 mins, Haunted Mansion 10 mins, Big Thunder Mountain 15 mins, Pirates of the Caribbean 10 mins, Autopia 15 mins, Indiana Jones 20 mins, and so on. You get the picture. Many of these rides are easily 40+ mins pre-COVID. We used the Disneyland app to check wait times and hit them when they were short, which was very often. The one criticism we had was that the Fast Pass system was shut down. We normally utilized that for popular rides like Radiator Springs and Guardians of the Galaxy. We waited 50 mins and 35 mins for each respectively, and they were our longest wait times due to that; however, we did hit Guardians two more times when the wait was 15 mins or less. We were stressing a bit about not being able to get into the virtual queues for Web Slingers and Rise of the Resistance, but we got into both when they released at 7am each day. Just had to be super quick with the clicks. Web Slingers was great, but I was a little disappointed with the Avengers Campus. The only new ride there was Web Slingers and the rest of the land was just food, shops, and some photo op spots. I guess I was hoping for more. Rise of the Resistance was AMAZING. We were in boarding group 10, and when we got into the ride around 9:20am, we were literally the only ones there. We got to stop and take pictures. Without spoiling too much, this was my favorite part of the ride. Walking into this room was jaw-dropping. The picture doesn’t do the room any justice. The room is huge, and you’re just immersed in the experience. I hope you had a great time there too.

And that is exactly how I do NOT like to spend my vacations - having to prebook all my commitments for the day. I think it is easier if you live close to a park, but for me, when I need to drive 1000-1500 miles, I like to relax and play each day by ear, and often only make decisions that day on what to do the next day. The new Disney reservations system is a total disaster for people like me.

They need to go back to the E ticket system, like when I was a kid, would fix all of these first world problems

I think Target has been fulfilling from individual stores for some time, so this is becoming more and more common.

After really digging episodes 1 & 2, "Lamentis" was a bit lame…definitely had a filler feel to it. The only interesting revelations are that Loki casually mentions he's bisexual, and Sylvie tells Loki that everyone who works in the TVA is a variant. Other than that, lots of running, chasing, fighting…but no real forward plot development.

Guardians is great! I loved the original Tower of Terror, but the revamp is great too. Two years ago, my son was 7 and super afraid after riding it. He's 9 now, and we rode it three times. Nuff said. On this topic, I saw a guy talking to a Disney Avengers Campus employee about the Web Slingers ride. As he walked away, I overheard him say to his friends, "What's a virtual queue??" Best piece of advice when planning a trip to Disneyland is to plan, plan, plan and know about what you need to do in advance. I'm lucky that my wife loves trip planning and making reservations for Disney restaurants, etc. when the windows open. It makes for a better experience.

Now that we're past Prime Day, any word on Walmart, Target, Kohl's, etc summer clearance dates?

Oh yes. You wont even need to buy the larger set to get this GWP!

Well, if you feel that was his point I would understand you feeling that way but I didn’t come away with impression. He did what he thought he needed to do and he didn’t even get a reasonable chance. Never said he deserved a better chance than anyone else. My impression anyway . . . Oh well, glad your daughter had a good time. I miss those days.

This is new! Two boxes from target. One with sets in good shape with some bubbles. The other with every set individually bagged or shrink wrapped with labels on them (never seen this before). They added bubble to that box but some sets were slightly creased, nothing major. Also missing two sets from that box. Anybody else get target items wrapped like this? It's too bad about fastpass. I've been to DW once with the gf now wife and Fastpass is what made everyone happy and everything go smooth... Well that and an empty universal studios when we went. Fastpass being removed will definitely make us reconsider our plans to return in 2023 or 2024. Yay LEGO!

Fastpass is non-existent at the moment. Which is a bummer, because it's definitely useful. The reservation system works great. It's pretty easy to change your reservation. When I bought my tickets 6(?) weeks ago (when Disney put them on sale), I schedule for Tues, Jun 15. About a week before, I was watching the weather, and saw the 10-day outlook was showing extreme heat (100*) for Anaheim. So I cancelled and moved it to two weeks later. But when I saw the weather for this week was going to be much better, I was able to cancel and reschedule again. It takes a little time to do it - you have to watch the reservation system a few times during the day, but people cancel and reschedule all the time so dates will become available (or get filled out) randomly throughout the day. There's also no penalty if you miss your reservation - e.g., you can't make it to the park after all, nothing happens. As for the rides, there's only two rides that have a "virtual queue" - Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland, and WEB Slingers at California Adventure. There are two opportunities to try to get passes, 7AM and Noon. You have to be very quick, and it is difficult to get passes. You don't have to be in the park, but you do have to have a reservation for that day. It's not a perfect system, but it does work. And doesn't prevent you from participating in everything else at the park. We ended up having a blast. Got soaked on the rapids (twice), had lots of laughs. Got told repeatedly by the kids that "this was the best day ever." Wife and I agreed that this was one of our best trips ever (and we've been to Disneyland hundreds of times).

I'm okay with that. I can live vicariously through your posts. Your pictures of the beach certainly has brought back some memories and senses. How much I miss the scent of the cold calming ocean breeze caressing my lungs. New park, same problems. I have not been to any amusement theme park since before high school and was wondering how the latest technology would incorporate into everything to make the experience more 'streamlined' or at least better managed. Well the methods changed but the experience continues to be the same. Buy a ticket in advance. Get to the park soon as it opens at the crack of dawn. Trudge through a crowd thick as soup. Wait in line for hours at a chance to actually get on the ride. If successful, ride lasts less than two to three minutes. Repeat step 3 until too tired or hungry or it's closing time. Realize you spent an entire day (and a few paychecks) for maybe two rides. Now to be more negative, anyone trying to get on the most popular attractions (or latest additions) at any theme park within a moderate time-frame to even at all is going to be disappointed. Last and only time I visited Six Flags Magic Mountain in California was around the time Batman The Ride was constructed. One glance at that waiting line and there simply was no bleeping chance at getting on before the sun set. I can somewhat recall waiting markers spaced down the length of the queue with the end one stating "anyone past this point will be waiting 4 hours and (some odd number) minutes" and the line went way past that. Also my mother saw how the floor gave away and riders were going upside down flying all over the place and she was like "f**k that!". Hahaha. Anyhow the dude is upset and I will not discredit his frustration. It is annoying to spend all that cash upfront and still not get to do what they wanted to in the first place. At the same time it really isn't much different now than it was before is it. Also picking the two most popular attractions? Think, John!
