‘The Mandalorian' Will Not Recast Gina Carano's Character with a New Actress https://www.slashfilm.com/the-mandalorian-not-recasting-cara-dune-after-gina-carano-firing/9 points

Leaving it up to the government to make sure of your safety in situations like this is probably a mistake no one should make. 99% of the population is woefully unprepared for 48 hours without electricity. There are solutions. Government isn't one of them.8 points

First Preliminary photos of the next HP sets have surfaced online (here). Not overly impressed but the final versions may be more tempting - I don't think they'll have much of an impact on the future prospects of the 75953 & 75954!4 points

Say what you will about Cruz’s rhetoric—that dude is rocking a legit carney mullet. Nothing quite says I’m here to challenge your policy but up to party afterwards.4 points

Yes, he made a jerk post about California a while back. He's getting a bunch of "didn't age well" replies today.3 points

Same. Shipped this morning. It varies. At 20 minutes you were probably only a few minutes away from a person. Toss that **** on speaker and continue your day. Chat is unavailable. Email will take... hahahahahhaa... forever.3 points

Stumbled on someone selling a Captain Marvel and the Asis 77902 on Facebook Marketplace. Had never seen or heard of that set before, but after some quick research decided it was something I needed to get. They also said they had an original Mos Eisley Cantina 4501 (blue box) so I grabbed that as well. I'm still pretty new to the game but thought these two were some great finds. I am pumped. Got both for of these for well below the current market value too!3 points

I'm sure Disney has final say over that. Zavvi taking preorders on it for 10.99. I don't mess with funko so unsure of it's prospects. May take a flyer on a few.2 points

I'm a fan of the PROPANE powered portable generator available at Costco for $700. Connects to the same propane tank I have for the Weber; flick the switch and voila; power for over 48 hours straight w/ a full tank. Never felt comfortable w/ the gasoline ones (altho this can also handle gasoline). It's a godsend and I high recommend it.2 points

https://www.sfgate.com/news/houston-texas/article/Ted-Cruz-Twitter-California-blackouts-energy-power-15953893.php here's his tweet "California is now unable to perform even basic functions of civilization, like having reliable electricity. Biden/Harris/AOC want to make CA’s failed energy policy the standard nationwide. Hope you don’t like air conditioning! also Some angry Lefty actor thinks California is the only place that has Summer. It’s hot everywhere—try Texas every summertime—but the rest of the country doesn’t have such a dysfunctional state govt that you can’t turn the lights on or run A/C. That’s a policy failure of the Dems. also by dan Crenshaw: Alexa, show me what happens when you let Democrats control energy policy. Texas Senator Joh Cornyn: "Texas luring jobs away from California with the promises of electricity.2 points

That was my past life. First career. Hence the "map" in my name. Used to use ArcGIS daily. They can do some pretty cool things in ArcGIS Online these days. I don't know how I'd handle it. I was outside here in SoCal last night, and it was a chilly 45 degrees and I was freezing, even bundled up. I can't even imagine single digit temperatures, and not being able to retreat inside to get some level of comfort.2 points

My ex is in Texas...wait, isn't that a country song? Anyways, two days ago, she posted on Facebook "No power, no hot water. We are screwed!" Then yesterday, "Hallelujah, we have power!", and then this morning "No electricity, no water, no food. This is getting ridiculous." I feel for her. She moved out of the San Francisco Bay Area 10 years ago. She says she loved it back then. Then a few years later, she says she misses the Bay Area. Late last year, she posted that her and her boyfriend had a custom house built (nice and big). Looks like she's staying there long term, but I know she misses it here.2 points

Someone posted on Nextdoor that they were moving and put a bunch of stuff in their driveway for garbage/donation. They said feel free to come by and take whatever. One of the pics had two skateboards in it, and I wanted to get them for my kids. Got there 25 mins after the post and as I pulled up, I saw some lady grabbing pretty much everything and putting it next to her car. All the stuff wouldn't even fit in her Jetta, but she was selfish about it. Anyways, I saw the skateboards in her car and was bummed out. I decided to look anyway and lucked out on a box of Lego that was sitting under another box that she hadn't seen yet. Woohoo! Take that selfish lady!2 points

Yea, I do that all the time. Sometimes I have something backorder along with reward, I would add a keychain or minifigure to get the reward shipped with it first.1 point

WTH am I looking at. I want to believe that is fake, but that just cannot be. They say politicians are out of touch with reality. May I present Exhibit A. Crazy? Or SurprisedPikachuFace.gif?1 point

Sure, it's different if you don't own your residence. I'm just talking about having a plan, nothing more. Whether it's relatives, hotels, or shelters, a person can't afford to not think about these situations ahead of time.1 point

I live in Texas closer to the countryside than the city - people that arent prepared suffered - yes some places have had it hard - several of my employees havent had power for three days - but despite what you see on the news - we have fuel, roads arent that bad and there is food available. I have been driving every day with no issue. We dont want the government to protect us - protect yourself.1 point

I just had a fire in my pit outside, it was 17 degrees out. The booze helps take off the edge. But I love snow, the cold, ice drinking (fishing), snowmobiling and snowboarding. But then again, your definition of bundled up is no doubt different from mine. He also voted against the 2012 Hurricane Sandy emergency aid bill that wiped out millions of homes. Now he is calling for federal aid.1 point

benefit of email is that, if it's not time sensitive the issue gets resolved w/o additional communications. When I asked for a refund of VIP pts from a coupon that was not used; they put the points back on my account....but took almost 3 weeks. Just make sure the original email has all the facts a rep needs to help you.1 point

I love it here, but I do admittedly miss the water. Standing on a beach looking out over the ocean releases my stress like nothing else.1 point

ArcGIS is the defacto standard in mapping software. It was my every day ten years ago, never did any online stuff though, it's my understanding they have come a long way in that department.1 point

Those "beatbox" sets are unique and make for a nice storage display unit but twenty bucks a pop is a rough sell for essentially one minifigure in a plastic case. The characters in blind boxes upholding the tradition of randomness are an almost equally difficult sell at $5 each with the likelihood of duplicates. At this point a polybag build included would be nice and help mitigate the sting of RNG. Getting copies of the printed tiles or "beatbits" is not a bad thing honestly. Still I am merely looking at the minifigures as they are instead of the child friendly music video sharing platform they are supposed to be for which sounds like a good idea. While I understand this is a collaborative project between the LEGO company and Universal Music Group, I would still like to know who to actually credit for the playlist. As of now I can only surmise the tracks are copyright free or something along those lines.1 point

I find this concept interesting but I find myself wondering who the target demographic really is. The sets say 7+ but I picture kids age 9-11 actually playing with this... maybe. Smyths has put out some videos to advertise them:1 point

yeah...that's what they said about wildfires being unprecedented...we just experienced 5th year in a row (and has gotten worse every year). Climate change is real and a "once in a generation" weather event seems to occur every 5 years and a "once a decade" is now the norm annually. I realize nothing it that simple, but the supposed "extremes" seem more and more the "norm" nowadays. Best of luck dealing w/ the current issues...they say electricity prices are sky-rocketing in Texas...is that actual or just headlines?1 point

huge variability about when a set is labeled RETIRED across the world. most sets that we expect in north america to be retired are already retired in eastern europe. sets that are long ago retired in north america are listed as temporarily out of stock on australian shop at home. eastern europe seems like it has its act together and has the retirements done the quickest. not sure if that helps you at all or if you're just waiting for it to be retired in US so you can advertise it as RETIRED. us shop at home likes to drag their feet - my theory is to discourage resellers from gobbling up last bits of retail stock when something goes to RETIRED.1 point

I have a friend who makes these kinds of these action figures. He says they sell out pretty fast but I don't know if he's making them in vast quantities. More limited.1 point
