I thought I was hot stuff, getting an original Taj for $40 in my neighborhood. Only to discover 1) the first third was missing, 2) this was two days before the rumors of a new Taj hit, and 3) the new Taj wasn't a rumor anymore two days after that. I do have a bunch of nice white bricks for my winter village, tho.4 points

l also got this bad boy: $100 ebay (ofcourse the night before the 8% ebucks)...anyhoo; the source material is so iconic to me; I'd really like to re-create it using current larger LEGO sets...anyone have some ideas?4 points

There is no "file as a hobby" option. You either take advantage of all the deductions, or you don't. Before the tax reform in 2018 there was a "miscellaneous deduction" section on the Itemized Deductions form. This line no longer exists. The IRS would love for you to claim the income without the deductions. You are welcome to put the income on the 1040 and eat taxes on the full sale price. You don't have to have an actual registered business to file a Schedule C. Most people selling on eBay do not have a business. You file the Schedule C to deduct all your fees so you only pay taxes on the profit made.3 points

I heard an interview with AMC's CEO yesterday. He said, "We're not worrying about bankruptcy for a while now." Take away? They were worrying about bankruptcy until the influx of cash came through yesterday. Also, part of AMC's liquidity influx is the issuance of another $500 million in 164.7 million shares of stock. That will effectively double the number of shares outstanding for the company. So earnings per share are going to be much more diluted if you buy the stock. Granted AMC stock has about doubled from their lows earlier this year, but everyone should be informed before buying-in. AMC was having problems pre-pandemic and they are not out of the woods yet. I have been watching this stock nearly all year but I'm not touching it even after the announcement yesterday. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/amc-secures-917m-lifeline-avert-075015824.html If you must own a theater stock, CNK Cinemark is a better bet - much healthier pre-pandemic. They also have a better dividend than AMC.3 points

Nice pickup! I still remember when the original Taj Mahal was worth $1500+ a bit after it retired. I still remember buying a sealed 10179 UCS Falcon for $1000 and then flipping it a year later for $3200. Man, those were the days.3 points

Bionicle is trash. Splitting up the Castle themes killed them as they should have lumped them together and then when it overwhelmingly would have won they could have specified which sub-theme we would have wanted.3 points

These funds are not big banks, Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae, I think it's less likely to have a domino effect. The way I see it this will instead be a transfer of wealth from the ultra rich to the man in the street which is unprecedented. I am quite pleased to see the reddit posts of folks paying off student loans and donating to charities with the money they made.2 points

Im sure they have plenty of leftover Jyn Erso parts to create a whole new Bionicle lineup. I'd hate it.2 points

I can’t believe none of the 40 somethings on this thread have mentioned, mused or asked about the classic space coin. Space. Coin. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw someone buy a whole ice cream cake with a space coin at 31 flavors last night. How / when can I get my hands on that? Anyone? Bueller?2 points

It's not about fundamentals and valuations, it's about funds shorting this stock into the ground and millennials wanting to take back some of the billions these funds have by banding together to create a short squeeze bigger than the one in 08. It's really ridiculous that a stock can be shorted more than 100% and I have no sympathy for them if the squeeze does materialize. There will be lots more volatility going forward, hedge funds managers will not go down without a fight. BTW, Elon Musk just tweeted as well pumping it up another 45% in after hours trading.1 point

Placed 2 orders of 10 in the hopes of getting at least a full set, and magically received an entire complete box (2 sets of 10) including the display box.1 point

yup just ordered 1...that $49.95 and free shipping of $50 got me...ended up getting a two of the ones w/ the handle thingy that may be for pulling up between legs or for feet (no clue).. .I did dig this though (but sold out...maybe next season): replaceable inner tube and classy design1 point

We got ours a couple seasons ago so hopefully they haven't changed this, but the plastic material is much thicker than what you typically see. Also this round disc shape made it easier for my kids to carry back up the hill than the typical sled shape (my kids are short, lol). fwiw they have a decent satisfaction policy as well (of course it doesn't hurt that we have a store 10 min from our house). Good luck!1 point

As mentioned in another thread, I picked up a full box using Target Drive Up early last week. $4.99 per bag. Max 10 per order.1 point

don't know if you have an LL Bean out there but these have lasted us pretty good.1 point

What’s with the obsession over the elf house? It’s new and is a two year hold. 🤷1 point

I had about 80 of these from a Walmart clearance a couple years ago. They've been very good to me. And yes, it's a tough decision, but I figure, I can always buy more baseplates with the proceeds. I guess it depends on how you use baseplates, tho. If you're using it just as a plate, and you *need* sand color for a Star Wars display, then maybe you can't. I use MILS system so my baseplate color can be anything.1 point

Greetings new Tax Payers, and those who were surprised by a 1099. The worst part of the Schedule-C is the inventory portion on your initial filing in Part III... especially if you've been under the radar and not exactly reporting in previous years. Your buddy BV doesn't judge you. Essentially, you put the purchase price of the items you sold as part of Line 22 "Supplies (not included in Part III)". Here is an oversimplified idea of where things go on the Schedule-C, when it comes to online sales. If you're in the 1099 "surprise" group, and this is your first time filing a schedule-C, these are the basic lines you may fill out. You likely won't be filling out much other than this, unless you were actually running a business, but not reporting it. I would be highly surprised if more states did not start lowering the reporting threshold to capture more tax dollars. Just like the online sales tax trickled in from state to state... this will as well. Better to get familiar with this ahead of time, than to have it crash on you.1 point

Brickset has really scathing review of this coin and the accompanying storage case. I did maybe want these, but I might pass.1 point

The only thing that is different this time around is that Amazon has a new interface for submitting the information...it doesn't let you submit anything if you don't have both a testing report and the CPC.1 point

You do it by creating different MSKU in your inventory for the same ASIN. But, per the T&C, you are only allowed to have one MSKU per fulfillment method. So, you can't have the same item listed twice for FBA at the same time, but you could have one for FBA and one for FBM at the same time.1 point

Not a real deal but if you have Kohl's cash to burn: Kohl's has a few high-priced sets in stock that aren't readily available (Ecto, Batwing, Sesame Street). All MSRP and no KC earning right now but helpful if you have 3 more days to burn $200 in KC.1 point

I bought 5 Lord of the Ring sets (used) Offerup: $500 Tower of Orthanc Helms Deep Mines of Moria Battle at the Black Gate Ship Ambush I know the price ain't great but it was a chance at getting pretty much all the LotR sets I wanted in one swoop. Condition looks great from an adult collector. This series has really taken off in the past year or so. I would say in general prices have almost doubled in the the last 1.5 years. This is my 2nd Tower of Orthanc so I will flip it to recoup some costs.1 point

What impresses me most about TB12 in this day in age?!? How many QB's have left upto 100mil+ on the table to spread around to the rest of the team? Not only did his play elevate the Pats, his willingness to restructure and never taking a max contract is something always overlooked when talking about his legacy.1 point

Picked up Mickey & Minnie (using points) for my wife and I to build (earning a different kind of points). Also grabbed the Mandalorian keychain, 42119 Monster Jam Max-D, and some Mario Series 2 blind bags because why not.1 point

Lantern Festival same footprint as Assembly Square. They put a lot of expensive pieces and build techniques that you will never see in the finished product when they could have just used some grey 4x2s and decreased the cost. All printed pieces, some dual sided prints and translucent prints. This is a premium set.1 point

So now we are officially into 2021 and our 2020 sales sheets are complete, sort of. For those of us that unfortunately used the brickfolio for tracking, can we get some sort of clarification, pretty please? I ask this fully understanding it's probably not issue #1 for the brickpicker team, but some of us are really stuck in a tough spot since this disappeared. I know, hindsight is 20/20, I don't need any "you should have had a separate sheet" crap from the peanut gallery. I do now, but that doesn't help for older purchases. Thanks for all the work on the site, please help those of us unfortunate souls that relied on this function.1 point
