I don't believe in free money. I think it's a terrible idea. But if the government is handing it out, I'll gladly take my share....and hence the problem. This topic reminds me of the ethnic history of Hawaii. We all know native Polynesians were there then came the western ships and the Christians. What's interesting were the various waves of immigrants: Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, and Korean waves. Hawaii, once the population got hooked on modern conveniences was in deep trouble because the cost of transport. Their solution was cash crops: sugar and then pineapples (transporting these goods one way meant a subsidized shipping costs back to the islands) so the next issue is labor; hence the waves of immigrants. So why didn't native hawaiians work in the plantations...same reason why the "poor" in US don't work "migrant jobs"...because the government has subsidized native hawaiians for decades. Let me also say, white locals and native hawaiian treated the immigrants like dirt...they got nothing and was often kicked down. So why was there multiple waves? The Chinese came first and they worked their asses off and saved and saved..sent their kids to school and eventually was successful enough to price themselves out...then came Filipino..same...then Japanese...same...Korean....same And through it all, the poor class has always remained predominantly...Native Hawaiians. I recognize an immigrant's mentality is something fierce...I learned that from my own family...it's not a fair comparison...but there are clear lessons here.

100% I work with a lot of individuals who are terrible with financials. It's one thing to complain that one lacks money, but when they walk in with Starbucks everyday, and order delivery food 3 days a week, I start to question whether it is more of a function of poor decision making more than anything else. I'm totally aware of people having money struggles, and that I'm currently standing on my soap box, but when a person is in debt and getting $100 haircuts, nails done twice a month, etc etc etc, a lifestyle change may be in order.

I built Pirates of Barracuda Bay. Haven’t built a lego set in a while. I used the iPad app and only issue was the Technic rods are not the same size as pictured like in the printed instructions. Also, there were two minor mistakes in the instructions not sure if they are wrong on the printed version. Other observations seems like there are less spare parts then in years past and some of the small gold window screen elements didn’t have that snap tight fit. Looks like it would be a great play set lots of places for minifigs may have to populate it with my pirates chess set, but will probably do the ship conversion first.

I think the prices for 10198 are bad because 75244 overshadows it in every way. 75244 has no issues with translucent cockpit pieces (10198) and the proportions are correct. 75244 has the exact same minifigures as 10198 + Bail Organa (only found in this set). And it has a handle, which is always nice when moving a LEGO capital ship. It works well as a playset and display piece. Before 75244 came out sealed copies of 10198 were selling in the $300-500 range. I know because I decided I would try to get a used copy if I could. That wasn't too bad for a $150 set that had some serious flaws in my opinion. I don't feel 75244 really has any major flaws. Hopefully it does even better than 10198 at its prime.

Well, I know I happen to live here right now but I was born and lived most of my life in a 3rd world country, so I guess I see things a little differently. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities provided by this country for those of us who weren’t fortunate enough to be born in developed nations. Also, to be clear, I am not saying that we shouldn’t aspire to be better just because we know others are doing worse than we are (reason #1 why I left my country of birth: not wanting to settle for just not being as bad as others) All I wanted to point out was that saying the US “forces” people to live in poverty sounded pretty extreme, and that poverty level means different things relative to the particular society you are talking about.

This is absolutely true. I had the unpleasant opportunity to visit Djibouti a few times in the service. The squalor that the majority of the population lived in made me very happy to be born and raised in the US.

but why, so you are saying given people stuff, i agree, stuff can help like tax breaks etc etc, but this help people who wont help themselves has to stop. i know that comes across as bit of a ****, but nowadays its just excuse after excuse to not help yourself.

There are real world threats that I assume took part in our current events. These actors are probably accelerating global strategy to properly utilize US political unrest. 4 years with out new global conflict was nice. Unfortunately, I think that is coming to an end and the next conflict will be large scale with a capable adversary.

I am willing to bet my concentrate orange juice futures that it’s these two.

Oh, I generally agree with responding to incentives. I'm generally in favor of a society that rewards positive growth and good behavior. My general issue is that it seems like society generally has a massive addiction problem. Beyond the obvious culprits of drugs and alcohol, you also have issues with a significant amount of consumer products (Facebook, smart phones, video games) that are hugely reliant upon getting an individual hooked and keeping them hooked. It really begins to blur the lines between what is an individual choice and what isn't.

the fact that it went OOS online in like 1 day is a good indicator of stock numbers and “limited” availability... which does have something to do with future market value...

I wish this were true, I really do, but the more and more the government gives just erodes this out of people. I also agree that luck has a lot to do with success in life, but they say luck is the crossroads of preparation and opportunity.

i'm not shilling for the rich, i'm just not a fan of the attitude of 'i'm entitled to more because of' yes google & amazon should pay more tax etc but end of the day, my kids & your kids 99% most likely was offered the same education & start in life, if mine wants to sit on his ass all day & yours opts for education, why should you child subsidize mine forever...

Sorry for the length of this, but there really is a common thread to it. First, realizing that so many states did a first-time way of voting, I'm a bit stumped why we didn't mandate full-on recounts in every state. That would have been a good way to eliminate any "illegitimate vote" garbage. Second, I think it is pretty clear that we need to standardize any federal presidential election (meaning same rules, practices, etc.) This taking weeks to count votes in some states while others are completed within 24 hours is beyond ridiculous. re: hate speech. I feel like most of us would agree hate-speech is hurtful, inciting violence, etc. But when I have Christian friends being told that talking to their non-Christian friends about Jesus is hate-speech, then I get worried about who defines "hate speech". For a Christian, that is the most loving thing they could possibly do. People may disagree, but is it really "hate speech"? It behooves us to pay attention to history just how quickly a democratic country can go to pot in the name of progress. The Weimar Republic in Germany collapsed under the weight of restitution payments and hyper-inflation, post-WW1. It gave rise to the National Socialist Worker's Party (anti-big business, anti-wealthy class, anti-capitalism). After coming to power the NAZIs made all other political parties illegal. Then, if you weren't a NAZI party member, you were deemed a threat. I have spoken to German immigrants whose families were sent to work camps (not concentration camps). Hate speech was what the government told you it was. "Provda" (The ONLY News Agency in the former Soviet Union) means "truth" in the Russian language. It was gov't controlled and told the people what the gov't approved. Everything else was "hate speech". So who are the arbiters of truth in the USA? I would dare to say it's not the USA government otherwise Trump would not have been endlessly dogged for four years. So from whom are we receiving "truth"? When facebook, twitter, and YouTube are shutting down people on their platform because they have a different political view than their parent company, we can debate if we have an issue and if they are actually publishing or not. Of course, that discussion won't be allowed on their platform.... so people try to set up alternate platforms to discuss. Except, those platforms are being blocked by other privately-owned providers. The end result? Whatever the media giants permit becomes truth. Everything else is deemed "hate speech". Where then is the dissenting voice? It is effectively cancelled. Although those you oppose today may get cancelled, what is to stop you from getting cancelled tomorrow? There is a quote from a Lutheran Pastor who lived through WWII - Rev. Martin Niemoller: First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me. Pastor Niemoller served most of WWII in a NAZI concentration camp because he dared to speak out against the mainstream attitude, not just of the government but the press as well. If we think what happened in Germany can never happen in the USA, then we're not paying attention. I pray for love, peace, mercy, grace, and forgiveness within our government leaders and our nation as a whole. On a less serious note. My last complaint tonight is not having enough money for all the rumored Star Wars sets coming out in 2021.

I would suggest not to lump all the groups together; because anyone looking can find critical flaws with any group; especially the extremists...for every BLM protesters that throws a molotov cocktail and yells profanity at the police there are thousand of 100% peaceful protestors just like there's a thousand peaceful protestors OUTSIDE the Capitol for every protestor inside the Capitol causing trouble...lumping folks together w/ their extremist counterparts only makes folks defensive and does not facilitate open discussion.

Also based on the census:https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2015/cb15-33.html U.S. Cities are Home to 62.7 Percent of the U.S. Population, but Comprise Just 3.5 Percent of Land Area now if your argument is based on land mass representation then maybe but that's not a rational argument since we're talking about people...it's really easy to see a map of red and blue and think most of the country is red because of land mass coverage.

I am yet to see any rational person with some kind of a road map to how to move forward and bring people together. For the majority here that doesnt know, I was born and raised in a civil war torn country that is still divided to this day with no light at the end of the tunnel. I moved to the USA about 20 years ago because of what this country stood and still stands for , and hopefully someone smarter than me can fix this . I've seen firsthand what hatred and violence does, at the end of the day there are no winners other than warlords and politicans .

Same here actually. I dumped Facebook 4 years ago (briefly went back after pressure from friends - crazy, but this actually happens), never had twitter. Not to go full Ron Swanson, but I tend to see the people I care about in real life, so I don't need to fill my life with random thoughts and pictures of people I last saw 10 years ago. Edit: I also have you lot of unconventional knights.

You don’t *have* to have social media. I dumped all of mine over the last couple of years. It’s been over a year since I’ve had a social media presence at all. I don’t care what Trump or anyone else says on social media. Social media is a “push” medium. You are getting pushed into that you may not want to see. You’re passively being inundated with information.

Was surprised how cool this Architecture White House 21054 was to build. Also nice how the set fits into the box when storing. I did one minor change. The included transparent antenna looked dumb as a water fountain so I used a trans blue element from some Marvel set.

Bought and built this Bonsai Tree set with my son today. Nice-looking, and if you don't already know, the pink flower pieces are previously designed as a frog.
