The new tractor 60287 is on backorder already. That's a good sign. May also indicate that the buyers want a new farm theme! Seperately, and not City theme, but the new Creator Tuk Tuk 40469 went backorder also, I found that interesting. It's fun informally monitoring what goes backorder right after a big drop of new product like this for clues as to what is popular.4 points

While I'll agree the quality of submissions isnt what it once was, I also think AFOL's have a hard time creating sets that arent the whole kitchen sink.2 points

what are the odds that the piece we are just missing on the UCS MILF happens to be part of the advent calendar Day 17? I got the set used back in June and my boy and I started off strong but had gone months with no progress...(I learned my lesson, NEVER EVER EVER buy a set that big used..we spend 90% of the time just finding the piece)...anyway to the seller's credit only missing a couple of relatively common pieces so far. ANYWAY, wife gave an ultimatum...By New Years or it all gets packed up (You can imagine what the incomplete MILF and a sea of sorted parts look like in the middle of a living room...my wife is a saint)...ANYHOO yesterday we discovered a missing piece...and I went thru all out general bins to no avail..and then this am we do our Advent tradition...thank-you Day 17 Harry Potter grand piano...you Ain't ever getting built...but how sweet it is!2 points

One more build by me. A few months ago I stumbled upon some digital renderings made by Reddit user u/brxstr of a Back-to-the-Future DMC DeLorean, which looked fantastic. He/she had (has?) the Stud.io file available on Rebrickable.com, so I downloaded it and planned to build it. In doing my due diligence I found out that the model was originally designed by user Troelskf on Brickshelf, so I want to make sure (s)he gets credit as well. I ended up redoing large parts of the design for several reasons: Part availability and cost. Several parts were very expensive (the F40 windscreen for example) so I came up with alternative solutions for those. Stability and Buildability. As the design has never been built IRL, certain parts of the design looked great in Stud.io, but did not work in the brick. For example, the click hinges for the shaping on the back were originally positioned right in between two clicks, which meant there was an ugly gap. The doors were so flimsy in their original design, they would fall apart when touched lightly. Operability. The doors were not opening in the original design, as there was no tolerance for the swing movement (they looked great opened and closed, but would have to be removed and reassembled to change them from opened to closed. The lid for Mr Fusion could not be opened for similar reasons. Improved looks. I completely redesigned the dashboard, adding more and more detailed instrumentation. I changed the gear lever and created a different flux capacitor design. I modified the hose work around the engine, and redesigned the back section to make it look more like the BttF version, including custom license plate. Generating instructions. The original file was a purely digital design, with no consideration for building the set with real bricks. I spent many hours redesigning the build sequence and creating detailed, step by step instructions. They are almost complete (Isn't it wonderful that if you move a part from one step to another in Stud.io, it decides to undo all the call-outs in the instructions which in turn leads to page layouts resetting?). I still have one change to make but then the 300+ page instructions are ready. Here is the final product. Hope you like it. More pictures in my Flickr album (https://www.flickr.com/photos/129210197@N05/with/50605610828/). Total cost was ~$200 (US), but I had most of the common parts on hand. Would likely be closer to $300 if all 1600+ parts had to be purchased.2 points

Lego basically has two retirement points each year...7/31 and 12/31. A smaller number of sets is retired 7/31 than 12/31, but there's no real rhyme or reason about whether a set goes mid-year or end-of-year. And when a set is retired mid-year, it may disappear as early as April or May, or remain available until later in the year.1 point

I think you should be fine with those. I usually get cancel emails on hard to find items like things that are listed as sold out then temporarily back in stock and I placed the order. Those usually don’t go through.1 point

All items in my single order at “In Warehouse”. I’m sure the holiday weekend, and made of orders is delaying shipments. I’d expect to see a lot of movement tomorrow.1 point

Did yours not get shipped in bags? I've had a rough time with Kohl's shipping practices.1 point

All three of my double-GWP orders are now “in warehouse.” Tempted to order more, but don’t want to push my luck until I get shipping notifications.1 point

Just had the same thing happen on my one and only outstanding pre-Christmas eBay order. Ironically, said order is finally moving again in the USPS system, so the buyer will likely have it before eBay steps in. If you haven't already, at least complete a USPS help request form, which is usually enough of a nudge that the delayed package will magically start making its way. https://www.usps.com/help/missing-mail.htm Once I do this, I usually message the buyer with the case number to let them know I'm aware of the issue (this can also buy you some time) and ask nicely for their patience, as there's not much else you can do on your end. I have yet to get dinged by eBay using this method…and with so many unprecedented delays with the mail, I would hope that they're holding off on dinging sellers as long as they can. In the meantime, hold tight and don't offer a refund…make eBay pry it from you. That way, when the item shows up on the buyer's doorstep, you should be able to get your item or funds back. Good luck!1 point

TTG is not openly hostile to the great TT series (which I also like). Maybe light jab here and there but most of the jokes were on TTG's expense. I can watch them both and accept they exist on 2 different dimensions (as shown in the latest TTG movie )1 point

I think it aged like wine. I love TTG (who has a ton of its own haters), and I think this is totally making fun of that piece of crap Thundercats reboot.1 point

So true, and I own many fantastic Idea sets. However, if Lego continue the trend of spitting out an entirely differently mold than the original idea, the whole range itself will start to see less quality submissions if it hasn't already.(it has)1 point

My local LEGO store had nearly a case of ice rinks left and train polybags. I walked out with four GWPs: (train polybag, ice rink, ideas car, and MBoM). Worth checking out if you live near one.1 point

Boxes also? I'd get him to $600. I personally would not verify each set except for the minifigs and then list on ebay and amazon seller fulfilled. Also I always regret used lots as I think i have more free time than I actually do.1 point

Finished a 40289 last night. Nice little Harry Potter site. Already lost the light purple hat and had to use one from the 1960s Batcave set. D’oh. That hat is only in 3 sets.1 point

Built the corner garage on Monday/Tuesday and the Bookshop on Wednesday/Thursday. I like both builds and really notice the improved techniques in the modular line, especially for similar areas to other modulars, or when comparing to city mini builds. As blasphemous as this is: Green Grocer needs an update. The Garage feature is excellent (at least it's my son's favourite besides the fire truck) and is well designed. The rolling door is not for little hands though and the greebling was VERY annoying. I hope Lego figures out a way to take a similar set and make it a reverse corner in the future. I have 5 corner buildings which is enough. The Bookshop was a very strong build and I love the colours, but would like to see a little more work on the walls of the shop itself. The trees suck (and always have) and the corner garage tree looks stupid. The Bookshop is the nicer finished product but suffers like Pet Shop and Detective's Office with a half building each. A full floor bookstore would have been really cool. I am very thankful that they are full size buildings unlike the DO and BB. The best feature of both is that they don't have the stupid Diner staircase. Parisian Restaurant and Green Grocer still rank 1 and 1A for me. Bonus photo of the buildings around the tree this year with both Holiday trains (wall isn't done, but whatever). I hope to light them back up next year if my kid stops touches them .1 point

If I had $1.50 for every time someone used the "dumb move" line regarding Lego retirements... well, I wouldn't have to sell Lego anymore.1 point
