  7. Picked up a complete no instructions or box 10262 Aston Martin DB5 for $105 shipped from EBay the other day. Was still looking for one to build and they were out of stock everywhere, I guess I happened to come across the listing just at the right time. Officially it would have been $120 shipped but I used my $15 coupon from switching to Managed Payments to bring the price down further. $5 for a manual from Bricklink, and just missing 1 LBG plate 1x1 (I've got plenty of those). While inventorying the set, I tried this for the first time. Probably also the last time

  8. That fox was an easy lock based on previous elves performance. Easily the best animal of the last run in the series. I see it in the $250 range easy on eBay by next year. IMO Elves are some of the best sets Lego ever produced. I’ve built many of the sets to sell used and they are fantastic, technical, “girls” sets. Nothing compares. Trolls is a half hearted attempt to recreate which doesn’t cut it.

  9. Time to break out the train. No big Xmas dinner this year or dinner parties so the wife granted the kids the use of the dining room table.

  10. Hi everyone, I resell mostly SW sets (because it's the area I know most about) as a hobby. I use the income to fund my own lego purchases. I also design mocs for fun. Been checking out Brickpicker for a long time and while I'm not at the level of volume or dedication as many of you I do my best to make the most level headed decisions about my purchases - for resale that is - for personal use all logic is out the window! Glad to be here and to continue to learn the best methods to increase my margins!

  12. To be fair to people saying goodbye - the forum is nice and all, but it was the Brickfolio that made Brickpicker the go-to site for LEGO investing. Lots of tangible data rather than just another forum where people share opinions. I'm still holding out hope, but even as an ardent supporter of this website - you've got to agree that it's missing a vital piece for much longer than anyone ever thought possible. I'm not going anywhere, but I see why people are frustrated and looking to other sites to support their investing habit.

  14. retired in oz. still TOOS in US. this is reassuring. triceratops still hasn't retired anywhere - SOLD OUT in north america - TOOS in rest of world. triceratops retired in poland and a few other countries in eu. with the delay in the new JW motion picture i have been worried these could stick around longer if they ended up delaying the new sets based on the motion picture which isn't coming out until next year. the "Newman" minifigure from this set will be in demand after the Seinfeld ideas set gets released.

  15. Honestly, how deep can you go on these knowing they are still cranking them out? And most likely some sort of remake is probably coming next year? Slap discolored and rust stickers on it a la Ecto-1.

  16. That was just your common sense. You are saving yourself from future headache. USPS is a dud no matter which service you use. Now, if you told them "are you sure?" on UPS 1 day airmail shipping...

  17. I had one on a Harry Potter set a few days ago, but it was fixed and dropped off my dashboard. Then I got one of those emails today. I think it's just a delayed notification.

  18. My Christmas conscience must be getting to me - I just sent an "are you sure" letter to a would be buyer who wants to not only pay a lot (for a small set), but also pay extra for Priority Express shipping.

  22. Maybe just me, but I don't care for them. The Brickheadz line has zero playability. The draw of it is for collectors who want to collect their favorite licensed characters, yet is seems like the pets are aimed at kids. I think these will be about as good for resellers as the seasonal Brickheadz are, which isn't saying much. Of course, as a Brickheadz collector who has them all, except the rare SDCC ones, I will be buying 1 of each.

  23. I understand that people are upset/disappointed, and it is a feature that many have utilized on here (I haven't because I use other methods for tracking my sets, buy-ins, etc.), but I think people need to remember: this site is free. If you were being charged for a feature and that feature disappeared, you should absolutely be up in arms, but if the Macks or anyone else dedicating time to keeping the site going decided one day to just shut it all down, that's up to them. I know the disappearance came out of nowhere, but I don't think they intended for it to go down in the first place, so it wasn't just like Admin said, "Guess what? No Brickfolio for you!" They have lives outside of here, which may require more attention than random people on the Internet who quietly enjoyed something but started to get loud only when it disappeared.

  24. I was gated on some sets like Downtown Diner, Slave 1, Tantive IV, porsche 911. Sold a bunch of Lego last week and I just checked today and I'm now ungated in all these sets. Not sure if you have to hit a sales amount for the brand but like other say just keep going and you get ungated.

  25. As we learned with the many non-UCS Millennium Falcons, AT-ATs, & ISDs since 2010, some fans don’t care & want to make up for missing out. I believe this Slave 1 will appreciate like crazy leading up to the reissue. Back in the day when I was big into selling, space would have been created to store 30 of these given the Disney+ circumstances. I only need to hold for 6-12 months after becoming permanent OOS. Granted, I wouldn’t have needed much space since my for sale sets were listed as “New/ No Box”.

  30. Great to also see the Lambda Class Shuttle being used in the final episode! I still hope for a Lego UCS Imperial Shuttle remake to someday come out, as I never got the 10212 set. This appearance in The Mandalorian might boost that chance.

  31. My advice: send one more email expressing your sympathy with his situation but that there is nothing you can do. He can pay the import fees or refuse delivery, and you will refund once the package is back to you (with all the deductions yada yada). Then stop responding. The more you engage, the more he will try to make this your problem.

  32. As the x-wing flashed past the window I said to my wife, "Was that Red Five?" I grabbed the remote and backed up to that scene - "Yep, it's Red Five. This is the Luke the entire Star Wars fan base has been looking for." She said, "How can you tell it's Luke?" Me: "The stripes on the wings." My wife: "You're such a geek." lol I confess I almost had tears in my eyes while Luke toasted the entire squad of dark troopers. If only the sequel trilogy had given us this Luke. *sigh*

  33. Some sets will fail to hit 100% ROI for sure, but others could blast past that many times over, helping the average. Example: I bought some 41194s (Elves) for £20 in clearance from Argos. Just sold the first of them for £160. After fees (£1 FVF thanks) and shipping, that's more like 600% ROI. Makes up for some of the turds one tends to be lumbered with. I also think that the absolute value of a set plays an important part. If I buy a set for £100 and end up making £150 back after fees, sure that's not great ROI but it's still £50 profit for one single set (that I only need to ship once). In contrast, if I buy some battle pack for £7.50 and get £12 after shipping and fees, that's a higher ROI but feels like a much bigger waste of my time.

  34. Ok, you just sent me down a rabbit hole of the differences between PAB and BAP...I had wondered how city builders find enough BURPs to build mountains... Now I know.. I just feel so... ALIVE!!

  35. Whoever wrote this scene, I'm assuming Favreau, just put clown shoes on everyone involved with the sequel trilogy. There are probably some that are calling this empty fan service, but if this kind of fans service is wrong, I don't want to be right.

  39. In the mean time I am working through some problems/opportunities. We will have trains, and I would prefer that they aren’t just on the first level. But... lego trains and inclines... so, my son and I were testing some solutions for adding a drive motor that would constantly run, but only engage when on the inclines... sort of like a cog railway. Video is too big... you can se it here: https://oneoriginalthing.com/2020/12/16/lego-cog-railway-and-mold-destruction/

  40. Finished a 40289 last night. Nice little Harry Potter site. Already lost the light purple hat and had to use one from the 1960s Batcave set. D’oh. That hat is only in 3 sets.

  42. Oh wow. I know what you mean. The same three folks work the front desk at my post office (which only has room for 3 people to stand in line with social distancing). All three are really pleasant. There’s one that also interacts with my 12 year old daughter when she does the drop off for me and then asks me about her when I do drop offs. I’d be pretty punched too.
