LOL. Is it really surprising that things aren't going to go as expected in what has otherwise been an entirely predictable year in which there have been no surprises or unexpected turns of events for anyone anywhere in the world???

Not strictly a Lego deal persay, but I picked up a bunch of these tip-out bins for parts storage for $1 a piece at Menards (usually $2 there and at Harbor Freight): https://www.menards.com/main/p-1486970287264.htm They fit together to create an array of bins and you can pop the bins out easily. I'm excited to put them into use with my bulk Lego sorting.

Yes, the sky has been falling this year.

There have been so many "the sky is falling" posts in the past several days, that I'll give him a pass on this one. I'm sitting here making money on DC Super Hero Girls, of all things, so the sky may be falling, but not in terms of selling LEGO.

I’m not sure I’d agree with that. 2020 has been an epic year for AFOL-level sets. But who knows what people in Billund are thinking.

I'm hearing rumors that the reason Lego is rereleasing some sets is because they are really struggling with having enough variety of product. I've heard that they didn't launch enough good sets in 2020 and need to bring a few old ones out to make the shelves look full again.

SO to answer the question - Yes you can sell $10,000 in Lego from a garage in a weekend 🙂 The final total is $10,438 in sales for a profit of $4496.91 on 190 Lego sets sold. I will post a list of sets and prices at some point but I wanted to update the thread. Yes- I am shocked- I have gotten close to 5,000 before and been happy. I am in utter shock - I am going to have dinner.

I do what I have always done. Buy sets I like. If they dont sell I build something cool.

Stone wars is reporting that LEGO is retiring it’s road baseplates permanently in favor of a brick-built alternative. Maybe time to invest in some base plates or stock up if you have a city.

Welcome to the group. The best way to get your child started in freebuilding is to build with them. Have an idea and have them join you in the build . Have them suggest an idea and support them in the building of it and eventually they will take over. I would have you child pick out a set they really like to build and get a Creator box aswell and use it to expand and add it to the set. As a father to three daughters I can tell you that building along side of them really is time well spent. They see you building and they will want to join in.

Any half decent company knows that having a secondary market means you’re doing something right with your brand. The strategy of course is to find that balance of profitable sales and allowing a secondary market to indirectly boost your brand value. LEGO trying to mess with secondary market will be shooting themselves in the foot. So those rumors are either some schmuck messing with people trying to induce a sell off, or LEGO is really really stupid. You just have to ask which is more likely.

The 21103 Delorean is being re-released around next Easter as 92162, the RRP will go up from £34.99 to £42.99 due to licencing costs. There is in fact a plan to re-release most IDEAS sets over the next 18 months. Set number 92166 is already reserved for WALL-E, but RPP will remain the same due to ongoing Disney licence. The only ones I know of that will NOT be re-released for a least 18 months are Hayabusa, Minecraft The Forest, Exo Suit, Caterham Seven, Doctor Who, Maze and Research Institute. I can also confirm that two modular buildings are being re-released around Easter. These are the Green Grocer and Cafe Corner. They will be identical from the outside, but will contain new elements and a more detailed interior. RRP for both will be £149.99. The Tower Bridge also returns in a black 18+ box in an extended version with the extra anchor towers for £319.99. 10225 Star Wars R2-D2 is also coming back next Summer in a new Disney box and will have a higher RRP of £169.99, in line with other "UCS" sets. How do I know this? Please don't ask as I can't tell you for obvious reasons. he also says this. personally i think he's a troll , who thinks he works for lego.

Everything is speculation, even sets tagged by Lego. Some have gone retiring soon - sold out - 6 months later available. No guarantees, all risk, lots of reward potential. Pretty sure the Lego movie sets won’t get a remake so maybe stick to those. We see a new AT-AT, Millenium Falcon, snowspeeder, etc. all the time. It happens.

Seriously, stonewars is providing data/information as they have it, they owe you and us nothing. Generally their lists are over 95% accurate, without sites like Stonewars and BP you'd most likely be flying blind. Be grateful for the data you are getting for free and stop complaining.

I have to say, I was highly sceptical when this poster said apollo would be re-released, but seems like he was right on the money. I only had 1 NC and unloaded it during the corona madness couple of months back, seems like if u have multiple NC, might be a wise idea to start unloading now before the price tanks in January...

I went rage shopping today because someone cleaned out a store in my normal area (while I was on my way to it) yesterday, so I went a little out of my normal range today, but it was worth it. About 2.5k worth of stuff marked down 75-80% off. Granted, half of that was TLM2 stuff, but even that I'll take at 75-80% off. The best part? Not one of the sets has a damn clearance sticker on it. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :zen:

I've got one left and was really struggling between building it or selling it since the price was so high. TLG made this decision for me and I really do look forward to building it in the near future.

some things to consider before everyone finds the nearest bridge to throw there stock from. 1. they cannot re release sets permanently, they can't keep up with idea's theme as it is. 2. how long will the creator release be? stonewars says the duration of 2021, so maybe a 1 year release then gone again this is not the end of the world, people or collectors may still want the original over the re-release. 3. at some point the sets will retire, it just becomes even more important for set selection & buy in & maybe a longer waiting game. but they have to leave eventually. 4. this will spook the reseller market without question, especially people starting out, which is not a bad thing as its becoming a bit of a bandwagon, people in it for the long term will just adapt & evolve, we have seen it before with Taj etc just not as shotgun speed like this, so the aftermarket for Taj will be interesting. 5. is it exclusive to the Ideas theme, Idea > creator? as someone who goes deep on ideas sets myself this is a problem, but if it is only aimed at the ideas theme the damage is limited. if legosteve is correct and we are looking at 5 sets per year from sets less than 1 year EOL retired across multiple themes randomly, it will become extremely difficult.

BL fees depend on order batch value. If a batch is more than 500 USD the fee for the portion over 500 USD is 2%. and for the portion over 1000 USD it is 1%. So for very large orders (over 1000 USD) BL seller fees are lower.

I just received my biggest bricklink order (size wise). It's 3500+ pieces in 252 unique lots. I have no clue where to start to check that everything I ordered is there. I know...first world problems.
