  1. One of the employees at my local Lego store needed some money and asked if I was interested in some employee Christmas sets....I said yes...of course.

  2. Looking at used sets. Title says - 99% complete Description says - Over 700 of the 746 pieces I'm no math wiz, but I can't get to 99% and show my work.

  3. It's why I throw shade on certain sets at times. I threw shade all over 10243 about it being out too long and being the next Pet Shop... all while cleaning them up from Walmart at $110. Each flipper that you convince a set is going to under perform... is one less competitor you need to deal with.

  6. So many are clueless on math. My favorites are craigslist and facebook sales for "tons of Lego". Tons plural? You have 4000+ pounds of Lego? That's worth your asking price of $300. But the photo you have looks like about two gallons of crappy parts and I cannot see even one minifigure.

  8. honestly I am surprised how those thin crinkly bags stay sealed as much as they do...reminds me of the rice paper that warps white rabbit candy

  9. Here’s the info I could find with a quick search. Not sure if the date has been determined for release yet. As a SC collector, lots of 6 wide builds between the ideas gwp, this and Cars in City 2020. Proving the demand for a 6 wide to cruise the modular Streets is there. Makes me even more curious why they would make that switch to 8wide? Anyways I digress. with all the out of stock and back order, the problem will be to find a set for the thresh hold.

  12. Or, it could be a mistake to bet against humans to succeed in doing what they do best. Current pent-up demand seems to be off the charts. From this point forward, we could see a steadily dropping unemployment rate - one weekly catalyst that will continue fueling optimism. Today's huge unemployment numbers could end up working to the market's advantage, as the weekly numbers improve. But I'll still be depressed for failing to be more aggressive in March at DOW 18,500.

  13. I personally think it's near impossible for LEGO to be fully stocked by Christmas...especially large sets (>$79)...which I think is the target price for the well to do LEGO buyer for Christmas presents. I would (and have) go after any large sets that has 15% or more discount currently. I already have my boy's birthday and Christmas presents at about $25% off so I won't be caught off-guard or "desperate".

  15. Oh no, I'm not even putting DO in the shadow of a pretty good UCS set. And I have several turds in my inventory that won't move at all no matter what. So I know well enough that even time can't save every set.

  17. same here. but I told my wife that my Lego selling days are numbered, and blowing out this much inventory this quickly is super sexy to her

  18. Folks can keep mis-representing their products to their own self-detriment...as far as I care. In pretty much every incident I was able to recoup 20% refunds or more. ebay isn't amazon for better or worse...and I like to think I'm more well informed than most buyers and sellers of LEGO thanks to BP so I'm typically ahead.

  20. In the same vein, I'm getting a little tired of EBay sellers putting "RARE" and "EXTREMELY RARE" in their listings for items that are not at all that rare. I love the listings that say "Complete" in either the title or the description, because >75% of the time there are clearly pieces missing and I am happy to point that out post-purchase.

  22. I consider it a win if people understand the difference between "sale" and "sell" on either of these two platforms. Let's leave math out of this.

  23. This is what my favorite LEGO store manager told me they were planning. In NJ it will be weeks before they open the malls and allow foot traffic. When they do, LEGO will have "teams" of employees working together. So if one employee becomes sick, it doesn't wipe out their entire store, just one "team" of employees will have to go into quarantine. Re: not touching the merchandise; can you imagine someone who is sick coughing on the merchandise and then leaving the store so everyone else inside can get sick? Or the LEGO play area having one sick kid touching and coughing on the bricks and every kid that day touching those same bricks? The "new normal" is going to be a royal pain in the butt and not fun for anyone for the next several months. More than likely, the large sets are going to be the ones backlogged. My favorite store was sold out of all their larger sets within four days of doing curb-side pickup (I had called back that weekend because I forgot to ask about the Disney Castle. But I'm betting that is the Disney version of the Death Star so I'm not too worried). On the other hand, they have a glut of smaller sets because no one is doing curb-side pickup for $15 or $30 sets.

  24. A flood of Need For Speed nostalgic vibes rushed over me with the music choices here. How they picked the build up with one hand around 1:25 is a great sign of how structurally sound this is. I can even see a face there. Not sure if a happy one or just surprised.

  31. I wouldn't worry about strains until we have more info. And as far as worry there's a human limit to how long you can stay inside worrying. I've about reached mine. The cure can be worse than the disease if we let it.

  34. Honestly? I think it's 50/50. The fall is when all viruses start coming back and making people sick. This will be one of them but will it be as virulent as it has been? We don't know but everyone who already got it should have antibodies to protect themselves.

  36. Not everything is guaranteed to sell well after EOL. 75177 FO heavy scout walker can still be found on ebay below MSRP (even in the midst of this pandemic). I don't think DO will do as poorly as 75177, but considering how expensive DO is right now, it'll take a pretty deep discount before there is any money to be had from selling this after EOL. Don't forget, DO has never gone backorder in the midst of this pandemic either. Just saying...

  37. IDK...I felt a general dis-satisfaction after the prequels but have recently found that they grew on me...decade or so later 🙂 (without the previous expectations). Maybe these films will be similar. I am a general fan of more content (even if its crap) rather than waiting 2-3 years before a major film.

  40. I think the thing is that a lot of car enthusiasts who have no other Lego have been buying up these sets. They're overpriced, no doubt, but patience should be rewarded with this as it definitively was with the Porsche and has been to a lesser (so far) extent with the Bugatti. I won't be paying whatever the UK RRP is (presumably £340 or £350), but the RRP for the Bugatti is £329.99 and I got mine for £160. Give me the same sort of discount and it's much fairer.

  41. I use my bathroom scales for large packages in 2 steps: 1. Weigh myself without the package 2. Weigh myself holding the package Subtract 1 from 2 and there is your package weight. Downside: A painful reminder of my own weight.....

  45. My 30-day sales are ahead of my December total. I'm selling stuff that I didn't think would ever sell. Benny's Spaceships for $200 T1's for $225 I even sold my Sopwith Camel, which I think is the longest hold in my inventory at close to 10 years - for $270.
