  1. You know your local Lego store loves you when you go in to buy something and they say " Hey....we are recycling these but you can have them if you want " and they give you 6 cases of the Hidden Side juice bar promos. I did end up buying the new Chinese themed sets.

  3. I bought a used, nearly complete with all boxes, instructions, and packaging UCS Falcon (75192) for $380. It's missing one of the Porgs, but other than that its good to go. I have been looking for one of these to build for less than $450 and finally got one! Woohoo!

  6. It all starts innocently enough...flash forward a year and you're driving across the country with a rented trailer full of 2015 Bionicle sets wondering, "What am I doing right now?"

  11. I stopped off at 2 different targets. Found the following sets at 50%, with the listed prices: 76114 - Spider-man's Spider Crawler - $19.98 76116 - Batman with bat sub - $9.98 70824 - Introducing Queen Watevra Wa'nabi - $9.98 76134 - Junior Spider-man : Doc Ock DIamond Heist - $14.98 41315 - Friends Heartlake Surf Shop - $11.19 10572 - Duplo All-in-one-Box-of-Fun - $11.98 10897 - Duplo Minnie - $4.98 21150 - Minecraft Skeleton Big-Fig $7.48 The only one I was really excited about was 76114 because of Spider-man 2099. YMMV.
  12. Been awhile since an update. If you need extra help I am sure someone would be willing to lend a hand or maybe a donation button to speed things up thanks for all the work very useful website!
  13. I clean all my stuff through a heated ultrasonic cleaner (Mine is about 3L in size). Add a tiny drop of dishwashing detergent. If they are really dusty, a second wash will be required. After the wash run under cold water to make sure they are clean of any suds or dust that may be in the water. Then layout a towel in the sun and dry them. Comes out looking like new again.
  14. I used to have fun - The excitement of the hunt, the find, the deal. It's hard to believe that there was once a time when every day felt like christmas morning.
  15. Like most Brickpickers, I’m not right in the head. I think that’s why I enjoy it so much. Everyone loves the chase or finding the great deal, the trick is learning to love selling. I only sell on EBay, which has different considerations verse Amazon sellers. Don’t buy every set just because it’s 50% off. Buy shipping boxes to fit your sets, most boxes are under $2 and are worth every penny. I stay away from mid-size sets [$50 ish] unless I have a good feeling about them cause fees and shipping take a big bite. Little sets under a pound are easy, cheap 1st class mail. Larger sets give you more margin and shipping seems more reasonable given their size and weight. A lot has changed over these 7 years but, still having fun.
  16. The best advice I can give is to go slow and make sure that you have outlets where you can realistically move everything that you buy before you buy it. It's very easy to buy way more inventory than you can easily sell and get overwhelmed. If you're operating on a smaller scale, the price you pay for each set you buy is critical...you want to get the largest discount you can to maximize the absolute value of the profit you make on each sale. This matters less as you scale up and start moving volume, but is pretty important when you're starting out.
  17. Palace Cinema. I’ve had a used one sitting here for 5 years that I’ve always wanted to build and just didn’t. So I finally cracked it open. I remember why I don’t like big sets - so many pieces to rifle through. But I really enjoy the look of this set and it will go on permanent display. I also mounted it on a MILS plate, since that’s the direction I’m heading for permanent display.
  18. I just finished 80105 Chinese New Year Temple Fair. Hands down one of the most enjoyable builds of 2020 so far. I know its only January, but this set is amazing. I was on the fence about the Lion Dance, but this set will make me buy and add to the layout. Still need to build the Dragon boat race from last year, and find a way to make 80102 fit into the scene without the bottom mechanics. Highly recommend and stock up while you can. This will be a keeper down the line for sure.
